78th Glasgow Taxi Outing To Troon

GLASGOW. Kelvin Way.

78th Glasgow Taxi Annual Outing

Since 1945, thousands of taxi drivers have donated their time and effort to make the ‘Outing’ the annual success that it is. Most of the drivers don fancy dress costumes, much to the delight of the children and the people who line the route through Glasgow and in Troon itself.

About Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund
The Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund takes over 300+ children and a carer from Additional Support for Learning Schools in Glasgow to Troon, Ayrshire, for a fun packed day at the beach free of charge .Taxis provide the transport there and back with lunch, funrides, disco, beach toys and lots more provided.

Please note, with so many taxis taking part, our usual service may be affected – but it’s all for a brilliant cause. Thanks for your patience and continued support as we help create unforgettable memories for some very special young passengers

00:27Hi, my name's Stephen Lally, I'm with the Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund, I'm the treasurer.
00:57Today we've got 130 taxis taking over 300 children down to Troon for the 78th annual outing to Troon, the Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund.
01:05We get down to Troon, when we get to Troon we've got the kids rides for them, they've got the bouncy castle, bouncy trampolines, they've got a slide, they've got ice cream sweets at Maggie's Tuck Shop, so it's a great fun day at the beach.
01:20We fund it through Glasgow Taxi's, the actual drivers, they give us a donation every year, they've got a fantastic donation again this year from Celtic Charity Foundation, £7,000.
01:30There's people in Troon all congregating together and giving us money through Girvan's Bar, and just donations here and there, and we do some fundraising golf days and bowling days.
01:39Right down through Glasgow City Centre, it's absolutely tremendous, we've got somebody on every single set of traffic lights, and it's really good.
01:47All the way down through Glasgow, down through Shawlands, up to the Mallee Shore, and down into Troon, where we meet up with over 2,000 people that have lined the streets, and it's just tremendous.
01:57It's Glaswegian, it's just a Glaswegian thing to do, we just give something back, you know, that's just what we do in Glasgow, we're just kind giving people.
