Art Zoo Museum of taxidermied animals to open its doors in Amsterdam  Elevating taxidermy to an art form, Art Zoo will open its doors in the heart of the Dutch capital, in an illustrious 17th-century mansion built in an era that inspired the duo of artists behind the project. Although the animals are "still anatomically correct, they rise above the harshness of nature," explains Ferry van Tongeren, one of the taxidermist artists speaking on their poses and presentation. 00:53we make our own poses so we don't use standard mold so we like to take a different route or you know so

01:03not make everything the same everything in the world is already the same so we try to do something

01:09different also because of the internet and YouTube when you want to know something you can look it up

01:15and we learned so much by when we started this so we we can now do welding woodworking

01:22making chemicals every make patinas for metal you can everything you can learn and that's what I like

01:30it's like there's too much to see it is it's everywhere but that was our goal our main goal

01:38was to to have people in awe and we we said to each other you have to if your jaw should drop

01:46if you step into it and so we kept working to achieve that well we we always work by the golden rule

01:55that all the animals are sourced by from breeders and zoos where they died of natural causes people

02:04sometimes don't think that animals also die but they die lots of them die and most of them end up in the

02:14garbage which we think is like a real pity so we collected from them we have like a very large freezer filled

02:23with dead animals although it's still anatomically correct it rises above the the harshness of nature
