La 48e édition du Giro Next Gen, le Tour d'Italie U23, l'une des courses les plus prestigieuses du calendrier Espoirs, s'est élancée ce dimanche avec une 1ère étape sous forme de contre-la-montre de 8,4 kilomètres autour de la commune de Rho. Et c'est le Slovaque Matthias Schwarzbacher qui s'est imposé. Le coureur de la formation UAE Team Emirates Gen Z a effectué le parcours du jour en 9'17", soit à 54,29 km/h de moyenne. Le Belge Matisse Van Kerckhove (Visma | Lease a Bike Development) et le Britannique Callum Thornley (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe Rookies) ont eux pris les 2e et 3e places, à 1 et 3 secondes de Schwarzbacher.
