00:00If the Turtles aren't careful, the start of this guy's ecstasis may be the start of their extinction.
00:05Here's your look at the Mattel Turtles of Grayskull, King Hiss, Mutated Disguise, Leader of the Snake Men.
00:10Master of the Universe and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles worlds collide in the new Turtles of Grayskull line of figures by Mattel.
00:31The figures in this collection stand 5.5 inches tall and have 16 movable joints, so they're highly poseable for imaginative and action-oriented fun.
00:40Sending in the soldier that slithers, before we get a closer look at the Turtles of Grayskull, King Hiss.
00:45We'll take the tape measure, as we usually do, and we'll see how tall the figure stands.
00:49Not really sure, though, how King Hiss's backstory works.
00:53I'd be safe to assume that he's probably posing as a foot soldier, and not that every foot soldier under the wing of the Shredder happens to be able to turn into King Hiss.
01:02It's probably like a one character that does that, he just again happens to be posing currently as a foot soldier.
01:08With that still not being making much sense to me, we're going to still take, though, the tape measure, and hopefully what will make more sense is just how tall the figure's going to stand.
01:16According to the tape measure, he's going to be about 6.25 inches in height, or roughly 15.5 centimeters tall.
01:23Speaking of the kitchen utensil, here's what the figure looks like, along with the Shredder.
01:27While we're also at it, as well, let's bring in some of the other Turtles of Grayskull figures.
01:30Now, this line also has come to a close.
01:33We're moving now our focus to the MOTU Thundercats line, and I'm definitely looking forward to collecting those, being a big fan of both Thundercats and Master Universe.
01:41In the meantime, though, while I've been yammering on away, I've brought in the Shredder, I've brought in Krang, let's bring in two Bop Steady.
01:48Let's also bring in some other figures, as well, that change their appearances.
01:51Not only did we have that with Ninjor, but we also had that, as well, with Ratlore.
01:56The figures as a whole, again, they vary, they range from different designs, different looks, different colors.
02:02The thing that's consistent, though, and probably something that you've noticed here on this channel,
02:05I'm definitely geared more towards collecting the bad guys.
02:08They've certainly been more interesting than the Turtles themselves.
02:11Molting, some movable parts, King Hiss does come in clear with quite a lot of snake parts.
02:15Now, really, even though the figure comes out of the packaging with his snake form already present,
02:19there's no mystery, there's no surprise at all.
02:22I did kind of want to start the review working backwards.
02:24I wanted to kind of transform him first to a foot soldier, and then we would eventually turn him into King Hiss.
02:30I don't know why I'm really making hand gestures like that.
02:32And before we, though, do that, let's look at some of the other things that come in clear with it.
02:35One that will be discarded right away, the paper pamphlet, of course, is there as well.
02:40Just to tell you, though, that the top half of the bottom half of King Hiss can then be swapped around with other Origins figures.
02:46Cartoon Collection figures, I think, also work the same way as well with the ball joints.
02:49Either way, though, this will be discarded quickly, quickly.
02:53Off it goes.
02:54It doesn't come in clear with a mini comic, though, what we get instead.
02:57And with most deluxe figures, we tend to have gotten these index cards.
03:00It shows you on both sides.
03:02So, again, like, he's probably posing as a foot soldier.
03:06I know I'm spending more time than it's necessary to really kind of figure out what exactly is going on with King Hiss.
03:10But if I'm looking at this correctly, King Hiss is the main guy, right?
03:14And then, of course, you've got the foot soldiers on either side.
03:16They're just regular automated automatons.
03:18They're not going to be doing anything other than following the lead.
03:21Now, would they follow the lead of the Shredder?
03:23Or would they follow, though, King Hiss, who was formerly looking like either one of them?
03:28Do we really even care?
03:29Do we even care about the yammerings of this magic storyteller behind the camera?
03:33I don't know.
03:34Either way, though, on the back, though, of the index card, this is the Reptile Wars.
03:39King Hiss, it does indicate he's a mutated disguised leader.
03:42Ah, disguised leader of the Snake Men.
03:45King Hiss, interstellar conqueror, master of disguise, who sheds his skin to reveal his true fanged form.
03:51Poison can control the minds of mortals as they change into Snake Men.
03:55Snake Foot Soldier, though, is the masked minion of Shredder's army, venomized with the strength of the Snake Men.
04:01I hold on to these for now.
04:04I don't know if my long-term plan is to actually keep these or just to put them back in the recycling bag with all the other, you know, little pamphlets that we get from time to time.
04:11Again, some of these I've held on to, other ones I've gotten rid of, I think, for right now.
04:16I like the look of the artwork.
04:18I'm going to hold.
04:19I'm going to cherish this for at least a moment.
04:21We're going to put that off to the side.
04:22Okay, so with the Foot Soldier, we actually get ourselves snake parts.
04:27Obviously, with King Hiss, we get some parts over here that are all in gold.
04:29On the other side, we get some parts here that are all in green.
04:33You have to disassemble everything and then put them together.
04:36But before we do that, though, let's actually have a closer look at the Foot Soldier.
04:41Now, I want to tell you, though, I don't actually have a King Hiss in my collection.
04:45If I did, from the Origins, I would have brought one in.
04:47It still is one of those figures that, like Randor, King Randor, for one reason or another, I just kind of had missed not collecting that one.
04:55And I know with, unlike Randor, who got a re-release, I think King Hiss, the original Origins, is still one that you can only get the original version.
05:03And he's going for a little extra money online.
05:04A similar style of armor, though, in the fact that you're going to be having to take the armor off.
05:09You're going to also have to remove these arms, too.
05:11I'll show you how everything comes off in a moment.
05:14The head sculpt, though, definitely does read very much like a Foot Soldier.
05:18The only thing that's really now different is they've also added a little fang piece right above the top of, I guess, well, right below his eyes.
05:24Instead of having, though, the traditional Foot Soldier, we get something that actually, as a Canadian, looks like the symbol for Canadian Tire.
05:31Some of you may not even know what Canadian Tire is.
05:33It's Canadian, though.
05:35Canadian Tire and Tim Hortons go hand-in-hand.
05:37Not that they're always put together, but you see a lot of Canadian Tire stores.
05:41Basically, just a hardware store.
05:43It has other things as well.
05:44So it's kind of like a Walmart.
05:45It's kind of like a hardware store.
05:46Kind of like a Home Depot.
05:48Canadian Tire.
05:49Canadian Tire, though, would have been a red triangular piece like this.
05:52And they would have had, like, a green maple leaf in the middle.
05:55What we get, though, instead is sort of like...
05:56It's not really, again, a foot symbol.
05:58But it's kind of like what goes hand-in-hand with, like, the foot soldier, well, with Shredder.
06:02Shredder has something somewhat similar there on the front of his chest.
06:06The head itself is all cast here, of course, in purple plastic.
06:10They've gone in there and painted nicely, though, the yellow eyes.
06:13And then he has a top piece.
06:14Now, the top piece is attached to, like, essentially his armor.
06:18Even though, really, you could remove it if you wanted to and just take that off altogether.
06:22It's really technically a separate piece.
06:23The skirting is also something that's separate, too.
06:26I will say as a takeaway, the arms seem very long.
06:29Very long on the foot soldier.
06:31I mean, if you were to compare it, like, with the regular Shredder.
06:34He does seem, though, like he has much longer forearms.
06:37He also does have these guards.
06:39Now, these guards never really stay on his arms at all.
06:41You could take them really off if you want to.
06:43Just slide them off altogether.
06:44You could maybe use them for a Shredder if you wanted to instead.
06:48I wish, really, that these could have stayed on a little bit better.
06:51Not that I really would have wanted to have these straps.
06:53Because, you know, with straps, they're always a hard thing.
06:55You always feel like you kind of go back in there and have to keep tightening them every single time.
06:59But, again, short of just these always being loose, I do like the colors that they chose here.
07:04So, you got, again, the traditional purples of the foot.
07:06You got the green there for King Hiss.
07:08Green legs down below here.
07:09And, again, like, you got the same colors of shin guards that he does have for the gauntlets.
07:13Overall, it's a nice-looking figure.
07:15This would be one figure, though, I would really like to have army-builded.
07:19Unfortunately, though, I'd like to figure finding this guy in the wild was, again, next to impossible.
07:24I ordered this one or bought this one from the Facebook selling group.
07:28I paid probably, like, $45 or so for it.
07:30Which I think, really, for the fact that you get as many things as you do and the fact that he can then be changed into King Hiss.
07:35But I know, like, with just the order of this guy online, there are some sites that currently show this as a pre-order where he hasn't yet even dropped.
07:43It says June 2025, and then the sites are selling him for around $26.
07:48So, you know, if you can get him for the retail price, well worth, I would say, the investment of getting multiples of these.
07:54Because I don't think King Hiss is going to be a figure that's going to drop in price long after the Turtles of Grayskull line has ended.
08:01Now, again, for the articulation, though, for the foot soldier, standard fare here.
08:05So, the head's going to be on a ball joint.
08:06It does rotate.
08:07One thing, though, I noticed is that the post doesn't seem like it's almost long enough.
08:11So, when I'm putting, like, the head down all the time, I feel like it's on there fine until I go to start to turn the head.
08:17And then the head just pops off frequently.
08:20Normally, though, I would be able to say, like, the head would be able to move up and down.
08:23But, like, it's one thing if you've had this figure, you already kind of know the frustrations.
08:27The head never really does stay properly in place.
08:30Some of it may have to do with the fact that the head is just so large.
08:33I think a lot of it really has to do with the fact that the post is so short.
08:39I'm not going to keep doing that for the rest of this review.
08:41Standard waist articulation.
08:42So, of course, that's going to move forward and back.
08:44His arms are going to rotate forward and back as well.
08:46You can also bring them out.
08:47Not really quite fully at a T-pose.
08:50This arm is a little tighter.
08:51This one, I guess, could pull off a 90-degree angle bend.
08:54There is a swivel here in the forearm.
08:56There's an elbow bend, again, with the configuration that we have right now.
08:59And the hands rotate forward and back.
09:01King hisses legs as a foot soldier split out as far like this.
09:06The lower legs, by the way, are something that we're going to be keeping.
09:08We're also going to technically take and keep the torso.
09:10So, we're just going to kind of take the armor off.
09:12But the legs move forward and back.
09:13They are a little limited, granted, because he's got the skirting over top of it.
09:17The skirting, though, we will do away with in a second.
09:19The legs do have a standard knee bend.
09:21So, nothing new there.
09:23Legs rotate forward and back.
09:24And he does have articulation up and down in the ankle.
09:27You kind of rock it back and forth there as well.
09:30Of course, he does have peggles on the bottoms of his feet if you so choose to use them.
09:34But all in all, though, the foot soldier looks good.
09:37If you are collecting, of course, the Turtles of Grayskull line, maybe with the prices, maybe they may start to drop.
09:43Being that we're now moving into the Thundercats Master Universe line.
09:47There's so many collaborations that they have planned.
09:50Of course, we also have the WWE, a world of the WWE as well.
09:53But, yeah, I think if you could start to get these guys at a markdown price, I would be very, very tempted to get at least maybe two more.
10:01Where I can have, like, foot soldiers displayed on either side of the Shred.
10:04And then have one of them, obviously, displayed and configured to be like King Hiss.
10:10Speaking of the configuration, though, of King Hiss, like I said, he does have, again, multiple component pieces.
10:16He has the upper torso piece.
10:17He has some additional arms.
10:19All of which we will be discussing in a second.
10:21Now, as for the actual arms, the arms, if you look at them.
10:26So, this essentially is going to be a piece that's going to go on top.
10:29He has, then, if you look at him, like two separate serpent heads in the gold.
10:33And then he's got some additional ones in green.
10:35All of these, surprisingly, do have mouth articulation.
10:38I really wasn't expecting that at all.
10:40It's almost as if they really spent a lot of the budget with the figures, like, wrapping up the line.
10:45Because figures prior to that would not have had this level of posability.
10:49So, again, like, you can move the mouths around.
10:51You can also rotate these back and forth.
10:53And even, like, the arms themselves can also move forward and back, too.
10:56I do love the gold that they've used here.
10:59That's really nice gold.
11:00I don't think we've actually got much of this, really, with the other Turtles of Grayskull line.
11:04Even for that matter, have we used it?
11:05Have they used it much at all with, like, the Masked Universe figures?
11:09I don't know.
11:09But either way, though, a really nice looking head sculpt.
11:12Well, really nice torso piece here.
11:14You also get, again, these arms.
11:15And these arms are going to snap, really, on the side of, really, what he has right now.
11:18So, we're going to take these arms off.
11:21We're going to be replacing it with these.
11:22Right?
11:23These are all cast in green plastic.
11:25Again, you can get in there and you can open and close the mouth.
11:27Like, if you look at this and you look at these, the heads are very, very similar.
11:31Let's actually close the mouths.
11:33Very similar.
11:33Identical, perhaps.
11:35And that's not a bad thing.
11:36I'm not faulting at all that Mattel chose to use the same heads.
11:39If it means that we get as many things as we do.
11:41Okay.
11:41The one last thing he does also have, though, is a really neat looking mouth.
11:46Something, certainly, I would have expected to see in, like, Cobra.
11:48Maybe even, like, Serpentor.
11:50But the mouth does also open and close for this.
11:52The only thing he doesn't have, though, is any head articulation.
11:54But really, though, that this piece is going to attach onto the ball joint of the foot soldier.
11:58So, that's going to be where you're going to get your posability there.
12:01Just to show you guys what the head sculpt looks like.
12:03They've really gone well in there and painted the tops of the fangs.
12:06If we actually open the mouth again.
12:08Get in there.
12:10There we go.
12:10They've painted the tongue.
12:12They've also painted the bottom of the teeth as well.
12:13And they've painted the crest in green.
12:16Nice looking head sculpt.
12:17So, to disassemble everything that we've got going on here.
12:21It's usually best to kind of just take the head off first.
12:23That's going to be an easy thing anyways.
12:25You can take the skirting off or the top shoulder piece.
12:28Take that off also as well.
12:30Also, when you do remove this, it gives you a chance to kind of see the snake armor detailing underneath.
12:34Almost like he was hiding that the whole time.
12:37I think that's a nice little feature.
12:38You can also go ahead and just remove the arms.
12:40You don't need those either.
12:42So, we'll just pop them off on both sides.
12:44And we can also go ahead too and we can just split it like a lobster tail.
12:48Just get the lobster juice everywhere.
12:51We're also going to take this piece off.
12:52We don't need the skirting anymore.
12:53So, what we have left behind is a pair of legs.
12:58We've got a torso.
12:59The torso we're also going to disassemble too.
13:02I suppose you really could leave this on if you want to and then just go ahead and take the torso piece.
13:07Snap it on that way.
13:08But to get the look that it's supposed to look like, we're going to go ahead and take the armor off.
13:13Now, the armor is strapped on the side.
13:16I don't personally like doing this a whole lot of times because I know eventually this is going to happen.
13:20I'm going to probably rip this or I'm going to probably rip the connecting pieces.
13:24So, kind of get in there with your finger as best as you can and sort of just like pry the pieces apart from one another.
13:33Again, it's once I do this this time in this review is probably the last time this is going to be done to this figure.
13:39Do it on one side.
13:41Do it on the other.
13:43There we go.
13:44And then you're just going to take the armor piece off altogether.
13:47You're really not going to have a place for this once you've done everything I'm doing right now.
13:52And then you have this snake piece.
13:54So, like this is the front of his body.
13:55You can kind of tell by the fact that there's the heads on the sides like this.
13:58And, of course, he's got a serpent that's wrapped around the front.
14:01He's snake everywhere.
14:03From there, we're going to go ahead and maybe what we'll do is we'll attach the torso piece.
14:08So, this just snaps in place like that.
14:11So, now, again, you've got the consistent look of the gold and then you've got some nice green on the side.
14:14The green will also give you the suggestion, too, of where the arms are supposed to go.
14:18So, kind of just move these arms out of the way.
14:20Take these green arms.
14:22Snap them on one side.
14:24And snap it on the other side.
14:28It gives you at least the clues of telling you, okay, well, there's green here.
14:31Where are these arms supposed to go?
14:32Well, the arms are green.
14:33So, we'll know to plug them right there.
14:35So, you've got arms on the top, arms on the bottom.
14:38Then, we're going to take the torso, the lower end of the torso.
14:41Snap it in place.
14:43The legs, that is.
14:44And now, you've got this piece.
14:45The only thing that's really left then to do is to take the head.
14:48And the head's going to plug onto the top.
14:49Where it only loses the illusion, though, is in the actual head.
14:54Just because, like, if you look at the size of the neck and then you look at the size of the torso, one doesn't really quite jive with the other.
15:01It looks a little oversized.
15:03But the end result, though, is a really cool-looking King Kiss.
15:08Of course, now you've got all these extra foot soldier parts.
15:10Really, what are we going to be doing with these extra foot soldier parts?
15:12They're just going to go in a bag because there really isn't a place for these.
15:15I suppose you could probably use these maybe if you want to customize another figure.
15:18If you want to kind of go back to shredder, for example, maybe, hey, why not?
15:21You could also use some of these parts with a shredder.
15:23Customize a figure that way.
15:25But to show you guys how the sizing now changes, just getting the standies a little more top-heavy.
15:31Hey, bring back in now the leader.
15:33He isn't so much now the leader anymore.
15:35And here's what he looks like next to the shredder.
15:37So there's, you know, again, like that much taller of a figure.
15:40I mean, he goes to a really about like the green arm area of King Kiss.
15:44So the figure is now quite a bit taller.
15:46Of course, now because we've also added some additional parts, we've also tacked on some additional posability.
15:51So now with King Kiss, with the state that he's in, unfortunately, though, his head's a little on the loose side.
15:56But the head does now have a full freedom to move all the way around.
15:59You couldn't do that before with the foot soldier.
16:01The mouth, again, can open and close.
16:03You've got articulation here for the shoulders.
16:05You can move those back and forth.
16:07You can also rotate these.
16:08Those move back and forth.
16:10You can also open and close the mouth.
16:12So what I've just now done here, take that idea and multiply it by four.
16:16Because you're going to be able to do the exact same with all the other arms as well.
16:20There's now a waist swivel.
16:21Not really so much a ball joint.
16:23Even though it really does work like a ball joint, you can't do too much, though, moving the torso up and down.
16:28More so just back and forth.
16:29He still rotates forward and back this way.
16:31And again, like the leg articulation is going to stay the same.
16:33So there's nothing really new there.
16:35But man, oh man, King Kiss is a really awesome looking figure.
16:39One that I definitely had to add to my collection, whether the line was ending or not.
16:43Yeah, he is a little on the top heavy side, but he's well worth the price of picking this guy up.
16:48Whether you go the route of getting him in the aftermarket or if you're lucky enough.
16:52Like again, like some of the sites right now have a pre-order of this guy showing for June 2025.
16:57Like we're within that month right now.
16:59So you probably could get this guy for retail price.
17:02Whether you find this guy in brick and mortar stores or if you probably go the route that I would have to go if I want to get any more of these.
17:07Because here's again what he also looks like with Robot Crang.
17:10Just to give you an idea of how much taller now King Kiss actually is.
17:14Why not?
17:14We'll bring back in Shredder there too.
17:17Dropping in June.
17:18Dropping in June.
17:18This guy's going to sell for $25.99 online.
17:21That's US prices, by the way.
17:24I didn't pay that, nor did I actually buy this from an online site.
17:27Well, I guess technically I did.
17:28I bought this through the Facebook selling group.
17:30I got it still, I thought, for a pretty good price.
17:32Like it was a little over $40.
17:33For the fact that he changes into what we see right now.
17:37Granted, though, I have like all now these extra parts.
17:39I don't really know what I'm really going to be doing with these.
17:41But though, what I might just end up doing is now that he's going to be dropping on an online site for, you know, figures and collectibles.
17:47For the $25, I might see myself getting another couple of these.
17:51One then to be displayed as King Kiss.
17:53Two then to be displayed as foot soldiers.
17:55Either be on either side of the Shredder.
17:57Or maybe perhaps their new leader, King Kiss himself.
18:00The ending of the Turtles of Grayscale line is a bit bittersweet to me.
18:02I mean, we've gotten so many notable characters released, not only under the Master Universe, but also the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as well.
18:10This is, in this case, a combination of obviously both.
18:12Because on one end, we have the original form, the concealed form of King Kiss posing as a foot soldier.
18:19But then on the other end, when he fully reveals himself, you get a figure that looks very cool like this.
18:24You know, it really is a disappointment that I didn't get the chance to grab myself a King Kiss at the time of doing a review like this.
18:31Because I really would have loved to have the chance to bring in the Origins King Kiss to show you guys the differences there.
18:36Granted, with all of these figures, and it's always been the case with the Master Universe Origins, that you can take the parts and swap them around.
18:42If you like some of the things that King Kiss is doing right now and would like to maybe do that with another figure, easily just pop and swap.
18:48That's the whole thing that's made this line such a success.
18:51Master Universe has done that.
18:52The Turtles of Grayscale continue to do that.
18:54And we will be looking forward to doing that as well with the stuff that we're getting under the Thundercats banner as well.
18:59Now, with this figure, he's not going surprisingly for that high of a price.
19:03Looking online, and again, this guy's going to be dropping sometime during June in 2025.
19:08So, like, we're within that month right now.
19:10Most sites are selling for $25.
19:12He's not seeming to be going for the prices of what, like, for example, a slacker.
19:16A slacker, I think, is going for a little bit more in price because he was a bigger, bulkier figure.
19:20But then when you start to add the parts to King Hisser, you start to kind of add up the cost.
19:26And you think to yourself, it's surprising that this guy was selling for the price that he is.
19:30Now, he is still more, though, than a regular Master Universe figure, but not really by much.
19:35So, it does give a chance for collectors, now, knowing that this guy is going to be available soon, to go back, buy a couple of these.
19:42You know, and not all of them have to necessarily go on your shelf looking like King Hiss.
19:45Some of them, in fact, can be army built and have them displayed as foot soldiers.
19:50The foot soldier, though, unfortunately, and you can understand now why, he doesn't have any accessories.
19:55He doesn't come with a sword.
19:56He doesn't come with, like, you know, any melee weapon.
19:58But you can kind of understand why they couldn't, because so much of the budget went more so into the disguise that he was concealing inside.
20:06What do you guys think of King Hiss?
20:07Let me know down below in the comments section.
20:09Have you guys had the chance you had to pick this figure up?
20:11Or is this one that's definitely on your radar?
20:14Are you guys also excited as well that we are going to be getting a Thundercats MOTU line?
20:18Or are you also a little disappointed that the Turtles of Grayskull is line, as good as it was, has to be, unfortunately, ending to move on to the next?
20:26If you guys also did enjoy this video, do it a solid, throw it a like.
20:29You guys want to stick around for more, so?
20:31I hope so.
20:32Went for the dramatic pause there.
20:34Yeah, make sure you hit the subscribe.
20:35Make sure to turn it on the bell.
20:36But the most important thing is coming back.
20:38We may be wrapping up things right now for stuff that's MOTU, but there is stuff still coming your way for the rest of this week.
20:44So, as always, thanks for watching.
