00:00Grayskull gets honored with He-Man's sister's second release.
00:03Here's your look at the Mattel Massie Universe Masterverse New Etheria She-Ra.
00:19For the honor of Grayskull, She-Ra stands with the powers of New Etheria against the evil Horde
00:24and protects the boundaries of the universe from an invasion.
00:27It looks like Adora has been adorned with some new armor.
00:30Before we look at her armor and all the accessories that come in clue with her,
00:33let's take the tape measure and see how tall the brand new Etheria, not New Eternia, She-Ra actually stands.
00:39With that, of course, I'm going to need the help of the tape measure,
00:41and the tape measure is going to tell us that she stands at 7 inches in height.
00:45She does. You can see it for yourself.
00:47That works out to be a figure that's 18 centimeters tall.
00:50It's now the second time we've gotten ourselves a She-Ra of this scale,
00:53but if you actually look at the scale, the new Etheria release of her is actually considerably taller than the original one.
00:59That still holds true as well.
01:00When we look at, like, Catra, for example, Catra's going to be about the same size as the original She-Ra,
01:04so because of that, of course, she's going to be a little bit shorter than the new release.
01:07Bringing in some other figures also as well.
01:09Here's what she looks like with Hordak.
01:12Why not bring in as well Shadow Weaver?
01:13I love to look at her.
01:15And here's also what she looks like with Grizzlor.
01:17It's so quick to throw away the packaging, because located in the side of the packaging,
01:20you'll find yourself a bag that contains She-Ra's shield.
01:23She-Ra's shield, that's a hard thing to say ten times fast,
01:27is all cast here in gold plastic, adorned with a jewel on the front of that.
01:31It's a really nice look to the shield.
01:33The shield does attach onto her arm.
01:35She does actually have one larger hoop on the back,
01:37a slightly smaller hoop that attaches around her hand.
01:40Not the easiest thing, though, to do,
01:41because when you're trying to put this around her hand, for example,
01:44sure, it fits fine around her forearm,
01:45but then when you get to her hand, unfortunately,
01:48you kind of have to pry the fingers around just to fit around the second handle.
01:51You can also even just phone it in and cheat as well.
01:53If you're looking from this side, you'd never be any bit the wiser
01:56until, of course, somebody goes like this.
01:58Wait, what was that?
01:59Hey, wait a minute, you're cheating.
02:00Okay, yes, I admit I was cheating.
02:02So you can have the shield displayed that way.
02:04She does also, while we're still talking about that little baggie,
02:07have a pair of closed fists.
02:10Fine and good, I suppose,
02:11but considering that she already has a good-looking shield
02:13and an equally good-looking power sword,
02:16I can't ever see myself having a need to want to display her with a closed fist.
02:20Personal preference.
02:21Speaking, though, of the power sword,
02:22she does, in fact, come and clear with that.
02:24The sword itself is cast here nicely in gold plastic.
02:27It's pretty much the same kind of gold plastic as the shield,
02:30although you can see it's a little bit lighter.
02:33So it's not matching 100%, but it's pretty close.
02:36The sword can also fit, obviously, into her hand as well,
02:38because, of course, she does have gripping hands on both sides.
02:40So let's go ahead and do that right now.
02:42I'll tell you one thing, though, about She-Ra,
02:45is that, unfortunately, while the figure does have some decent levels of posability,
02:48they seem to have left off, though, one little bit of posability,
02:52that being her biceps.
02:54Strangely, though, that all the other figures of this scale
02:56have all usually had bicep swivels,
02:58yet this She-Ra now does away with it.
03:01We're going to talk more about that in more in a moment.
03:03But that looks good.
03:04I mean, I like the way that she's actually displayed now
03:05with a shield in one hand,
03:07the sword then in the other.
03:08There's no stored space, by the way.
03:10If you look at the back of the body,
03:11there's no holster, for example,
03:13where you could sheath the sword.
03:15So you're going to have either the choice
03:16of having them displayed with the way that I'm doing it right now,
03:18or the other choice of just not having her displayed with anything.
03:22Removing both those accessories right now,
03:23let's put them off to the side.
03:25Yeah, you know, one of the things, again, with this She-Ra
03:27is not only does she have a brand new design to her,
03:29but she has, again, no bicep swivels,
03:32which is, again, really strange.
03:34As for the head sculpt,
03:34I think it's actually quite good.
03:37I'm glad I had still the chance
03:38to kind of pick up this figure
03:39because, like, initially seeing it online,
03:40I wasn't really sure if I loved the design of her.
03:44The outfit, in fact,
03:45actually does kind of remind me
03:46of the He-Man She-Ra power tour,
03:48which came out in 1987.
03:49If you ever look at the poster of that,
03:51there's a real actors, of course,
03:53of both He-Man and She-Ra.
03:55She-Ra's wearing a very similar style of headpiece
03:58as what we get in that promotional poster.
04:00I think, actually, her little side feathers,
04:02for example, stick a little further up.
04:04But I get very much that kind of poster
04:06when I'm looking at the design of the character.
04:08To bring back in that original She-Ra,
04:10to take a look at them,
04:11you can clearly see
04:12that they're using a brand new body.
04:14She hasn't skipped leg day at all.
04:16I mean, if you look at the thighs,
04:17for example, on the new She-Ra release,
04:19granted, though, a little paler
04:20than I would have liked it,
04:22she has definitely a much more muscular leg,
04:24and she's also a much more muscular arm as well.
04:27Now, both She-Ra's did also have capes.
04:29The original She-Ra,
04:30more closer resembling that of the cartoon,
04:31would have had a red cape.
04:32The new She-Ra's now sporting
04:33kind of more of a magenta cape.
04:35Both kind of attach the same way
04:37onto, like, the head.
04:38So, for example, if you...
04:39To get the cape off,
04:40you'd have to remove the head,
04:41then you'd have to take the entire piece off.
04:43What's rather interesting, though,
04:45is that the shoulders that she has
04:46don't attach at all
04:48to the front of her torso.
04:49They only seem to attach
04:51on the back of her body.
04:52So, like, if I was to kind of
04:53lift up her head, for example,
04:55she essentially has, like, a collar ring,
04:57and then that goes to the back
04:58and attaches to the cape.
04:59Then the shoulders attach
05:01only to the back of the body,
05:02not to the front.
05:03So she's kind of free
05:04to do whatever she wants
05:05on the front of her body.
05:07Again, I really think
05:07that the head sculpt is really good.
05:09I know to bring back
05:10also the packaging, too.
05:11Let's just put her down here
05:12for a second.
05:13I know we don't really
05:14spend a whole lot of time
05:15really discussing the packaging,
05:16but even, like,
05:17just the way that she's drawn
05:17right here,
05:18the only thing maybe
05:19I'd be able to offer up
05:20for things that I would have
05:21improved to the figure
05:22is that just adding
05:23a little bit of darker color
05:24around her eyes
05:25I think really would have
05:26made the face a lot prettier.
05:28It still, though,
05:28is a nice-looking face,
05:30but I think a little bit of paint
05:31probably could have made
05:32the face a little bit nicer.
05:34But really nice-looking armor overall.
05:36And, of course,
05:36she does have the shield,
05:37she does have the sword,
05:38just the way that had
05:39her displayed earlier.
05:41One thing I also really think,
05:42and I take away
05:43from this figure, too,
05:44is that it doesn't just
05:45follow the format
05:46of what a She-Ra
05:47has to look like.
05:48So to go back
05:49and to look at the original one,
05:50for example,
05:51yet, you know, again,
05:52like, this one is so much
05:53closer resembling
05:53to that of the cartoon.
05:54I don't think it's that bad
05:56of an idea.
05:56Now, this is a guy
05:57that usually likes
05:58the classic look of characters.
05:59I'm actually defending
06:00a She-Ra this time around
06:01because she's doing
06:02something a little bit different.
06:03To look at the two,
06:04you'd still say that,
06:05well, I think both of them
06:06look like a She-Ra.
06:07This one just is
06:08a little bit different,
06:09and that's not a bad thing
06:10at all.
06:10The thing that's cool
06:11about this, too,
06:12is that all of her skirting
06:13on the front
06:14first is made of
06:15softer plastic,
06:16but they went the approach
06:17of giving it more
06:18of a pearl color
06:19as opposed to
06:20just simply a white.
06:21In fact,
06:21that pearl color
06:22makes its way as well
06:23to the feathers,
06:24although instead of
06:24being a white,
06:25it's more of a pink.
06:26I love the way
06:27they've tipped the end
06:27of that all in gold.
06:29The gold, though,
06:29is pretty close to her hair,
06:31so from the side,
06:32it does kind of look like
06:33it blends a little bit
06:34too much.
06:35But I think overall,
06:35I think the face
06:36is really good.
06:37I think the outfit
06:38is nice on her.
06:39Really nice,
06:39interesting-looking way
06:40they've sculpted
06:41the boots, too,
06:41so instead of just
06:42the regular gold boots
06:43that she would have had
06:44before,
06:44this new She-Ra
06:45now has these
06:46sort of,
06:47I don't know,
06:48like seashells
06:48or even like
06:49fanned-out wing boots.
06:51Those are really neat,
06:51as well.
06:52The figure does have
06:52two pegels
06:53on the bottom of her feet,
06:54so there's also
06:55available means
06:56to attach her
06:56onto a display stand.
06:57Not that a display stand
06:58really is available
06:59at the time
07:00of these figures
07:00coming out,
07:01but I'm sure
07:01you probably could
07:02use yourself
07:02a display stand
07:03from another figure.
07:05Looking to hear
07:06the articulation,
07:07though,
07:07of for She-Ra,
07:08she may be a little
07:09bit more limited
07:09just by how much
07:10locks that she has
07:11on the back of her hair.
07:13Because of that,
07:14rotating her head
07:15can be a little bit
07:15more difficult.
07:16She can only really
07:17turn her head
07:18side to side,
07:19and that's about it.
07:20Moving her head up,
07:21forget about it.
07:22Moving her head down
07:23is a little bit
07:23easier to do,
07:24but it's one
07:25of those trade-offs
07:26just by having
07:26longer hair like this.
07:28You can't get
07:28as much mobility
07:29from the head.
07:30You can certainly
07:31do a lot more,
07:31though,
07:32when it comes
07:32to her arms.
07:32Now,
07:33the arms come out,
07:34keeping in mind,
07:34again,
07:35like those shoulders
07:35are attacked
07:36only by the back
07:36of her body.
07:37You can bring
07:38those arms out
07:38at a T-pose
07:39or the 90-degree
07:40angle bend.
07:41You can take
07:41the arms,
07:42of course,
07:42and you can
07:43move them forward.
07:44I did notice,
07:45though,
07:45with She-Ra,
07:45that moving her arms
07:46forward are a little
07:48more tighter,
07:49almost to the point
07:50where I feel like
07:50there's a little bit
07:51of resistance happening.
07:52Again,
07:53I'm a little disappointed,
07:54though,
07:54that the figure
07:54doesn't have any
07:55bicep swivel.
07:56Maybe they chose
07:57to do it this way
07:58so that the arm
07:59looks more seamless
07:59so that the bicep
08:01blends then
08:02into the shoulder.
08:03I personally
08:03would have preferred,
08:04like,
08:04even again,
08:05like to look back
08:05on the original She-Ra,
08:06the first She-Ra
08:07and every other figure
08:08that's been released
08:09at this scale
08:10always tend to have
08:11bicep swivels.
08:12So this is the first time
08:13I think that we've gotten
08:13ourselves a figure
08:14that doesn't actually have that.
08:16Single hinge only
08:17in the elbow,
08:17but at least the elbow
08:18does all the work
08:19for the forearm.
08:20So while we lose it here,
08:21we still manage
08:22to have it here
08:22in the forearms.
08:23Hands rotate
08:24all the way around as well,
08:25whether you want to use
08:26these hands
08:26or the other hands.
08:27She does have
08:28an upper torso ball joint.
08:30A really nice thing to see.
08:32Granted,
08:32the original figure
08:33also had that as well.
08:33She does also have
08:34sort of just more
08:35of a waist swivel
08:36where,
08:37so again,
08:37like this moves up and down,
08:38you're only going to be
08:39really relegated
08:40to having the waist
08:41move back and forth
08:42side to side.
08:43The legs do split out
08:44as muscular as they may be.
08:46You can take the legs
08:47and move forward
08:47and back.
08:49Three quarters of the way
08:50up the thigh,
08:50there's a swivel cut there too
08:51so you can rotate the leg
08:52all the way around.
08:53There is a double hinge,
08:54although with my figure,
08:56it's really tight.
08:57And not that I'm
08:58complaining at all.
08:58I would really rather
09:00have tight joints
09:01on knees and elbow joints
09:02and anything really
09:03on a figure
09:03than having overly
09:04loose joints.
09:05But I did notice though
09:06on her,
09:07she's really tight.
09:09There is a swivel
09:10down below
09:10because the boot
09:11essentially is a separate
09:11piece from the calf.
09:13There is an ankle
09:13pivot up and down.
09:14There's a nice
09:15little ankle rocker.
09:16Yeah,
09:16she was a nice
09:17looking figure.
09:17Not really sure though
09:19why they chose
09:20to leave the bicep off
09:21other than the only thing
09:22I can really think of
09:23is that they wanted
09:24the arm to look
09:25a little bit more seamless.
09:26Also,
09:27they could probably
09:27clearly not have done
09:28that with the rest
09:29of the arm
09:29because then the arm
09:29would have had
09:30no possibility.
09:31So she does lose
09:32a little something
09:33in that regards.
09:34But what she does gain
09:35at least is a different design.
09:37Again,
09:37if you like the cartoon look
09:38by far,
09:39there's still the,
09:40there's always the available
09:41option of going back
09:41to the original She-Ra
09:42whether,
09:43you know,
09:44again,
09:44I don't know what prices
09:44she's going to be going
09:45for now online.
09:46But the new She-Ra
09:47does benefit as well
09:48by being a taller figure too.
09:50The design again
09:51is very different
09:52but still recognizable enough
09:54to look at her
09:55you know still
09:56who the character is.
09:57I think a lot of it
09:57really has to do
09:58as well
09:58that she's got again
09:59like the headdress piece
10:00so again we know
10:01that that's what She-Ra is.
10:02She has the cape,
10:03she has a very similar
10:03style of armor.
10:04It clearly isn't based
10:05on this design at all,
10:06it's a brand new thing
10:07and the brand new thing
10:08works out to be
10:09a pretty cool looking
10:10She-Ra overall.
10:11One of those individuals
10:12that buy into the idea
10:13that Mattel teases
10:14their future characters
10:14on their packaging
10:15then located on the packaging
10:17for the new Etheria She-Ra,
10:19you'll see Swift Wynn,
10:20you'll see Cal,
10:20you'll see Mantena
10:21but also in the far corner
10:23you'll also see Lookie.
10:25So I'm wondering
10:25if at some point
10:26we might get a release
10:27of Lookie.
10:28I think if anything
10:28if they choose to release
10:30a Cal,
10:30Cal's small enough anyways,
10:32that would probably be
10:33a most logical way
10:34to release both a Cal
10:35and a Lookie
10:36as possibly a two-pack.
10:38Not to go too far
10:39ahead of things though,
10:39looking back though
10:40at She-Ra,
10:41you know again
10:41like it's one of those things
10:42that sometimes you need
10:44to pick up a figure
10:44and see her in hand.
10:45I'm not that I'm going
10:47to necessarily sell
10:48on anybody on the idea
10:49that if you don't like
10:50this look of She-Ra,
10:52whatever thing I say
10:53in this review,
10:53whatever best I do
10:54to kind of talk about
10:55how the things I like
10:56about the character
10:57may not convince you
10:58at all.
10:59But though seeing it
11:00physically in hand,
11:01I think I actually like
11:02the look of the figure
11:02a lot more than
11:03when I initially saw her
11:04of online.
11:05You know,
11:05pictures don't always
11:06give a good idea,
11:07a good reflection
11:08of what a character
11:09looks like.
11:09Like I said,
11:10sometimes you either
11:10need to see her
11:11in the wild,
11:11which unfortunately
11:12as Canadian collectors
11:13is very few
11:14and far between.
11:15We can't even find
11:15anything like this
11:16new in local stores
11:17or sometimes you just
11:18have to take a leap,
11:19a leap of faith.
11:20Pick up the figure
11:21and hope that you like it.
11:22I went for a leap of faith.
11:24I picked up She-Ra
11:25in the hopes
11:25that I would have liked it
11:26because I already had
11:26picked up the other
11:27new Eternia figures.
11:29The end result is
11:30I actually do like
11:31this look of She-Ra.
11:32She's different enough,
11:33but she's still same enough.
11:34She's kind of the best
11:35of the both worlds.
11:36Again,
11:37this comes from somebody
11:37that normally likes
11:38the classic look
11:39of the characters.
11:39This isn't so much
11:40a classic look to She-Ra,
11:42but it's still a look
11:42that I actually like.
11:44What do you guys think
11:44of the new look of She-Ra?
11:45Let me know down below
11:46in the comments section.
11:47Do you also think
11:47it's a little strange
11:48that Mattel chose
11:49to omit bicep swivels
11:51on a figure that
11:52for up to this point,
11:53all the other female figures
11:54have all had bicep swivels,
11:56even like Shadow Weaver,
11:57for example.
11:58But what do you guys think
11:58of She-Ra?
11:59Let me know down below.
