00:00It's always fascinating to observe folks talking about things they've never
00:06experienced. With a great deal of authority up in this bizarre body reading
00:16scripted, hateful, planned rhetoric and directing them at you gentlemen who do
00:25indeed know what it is to stand a post. Let me address first to General Cain. I have
00:35to say good sir and researching your service career, my goodness gracious, 35
00:44years of distinguished exceptional service. I can't imagine that there's a
00:52better American man to be the chairman of our Joint Chiefs of Staff. Thank you good
00:57sir. As an enlisted army grunt, I thank you for being where you are and for your 35
01:05years of service. Mr. Secretary, in general, and I have plenty of questions that I don't
01:15have to get to because you're almost finished with this thing. I have
01:19questions on recruitment and training and Fort Polk and software modernization,
01:25artificial intelligence, shipbuilding, our new army rifles which I find
01:31questionable by the way. But when I met with you in the Pentagon a couple of
01:40months ago, Mr. Secretary, to dive deep into the reconciliation considerations and a
01:47budget, what the DOD would need and primary threats facing our country. I'd never really
01:54sat down with you like that before but what struck me, good sir, was that was that
01:59you are a committed and dedicated patriot and and I know that I can expect that
02:07sort of transparency and accessibility and candor from your office. So I'll get to
02:13these questions down the line. I know you'll answer the phone and your people will
02:17respond because that's a man that you are. You've covered a tremendous amount today and
02:24you've been subjected to some politically motivated vitriol on behalf of Congress. I apologize for that.
02:36So let me just state that from my humble position, I'm going to make a promise to you
02:44two gentlemen and by extension to the country that we love and serve. Whatever you
02:51need to accomplish your mission, we're going to work very hard to provide. May God give you
03:03your strength and may he provide shields of protection and peace for your families. I know
03:12your nights along, you probably each work in 20 hour days every day. Thank you for that,
03:20for being here today, for your accessibility. May God bless you each. Madam Chair, I yield.
03:32Amen.
