A slow-moving frontal boundary will fuel widespread rainfall from the South-Central U.S. to the Northeast this weekend. The forecast data shows 3 to 4 inches of rain possible across parts of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, and western Virginia, with totals exceeding 2.5 inches across portions of Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Some locations may approach 4 inches, raising concerns for flash flooding Sunday into Monday.
Lighter rain is also expected from the Southern Plains into the Upper Midwest, with scattered activity across the Four Corners region. Areas north and west of the system—including much of the West Coast and central Rockies—will remain mostly dry.
