The forecast is tracking rain across the U.S. from Tuesday morning through Thursday evening. Storms develop and intensify from the Southern Rockies through the Central Plains and into the Midwest, with widespread downpours and pockets of heavier rain likely. By midweek, showers and thunderstorms expand eastward into the Southeast and Great Lakes region, following the northern rim of a persistent heat dome. Flash flooding is possible where storms repeatedly track over the same areas.
