Heartfelt tribute paid to Ramsgate couple feared to be in Air India crash

Lucy Taylor, who works for Ramsgate Pride - which was set to host Fiongal and Jamie Greenlaw-Meek - paid tribute today to the 'electric' couple.

00:05Goodbye, 10-hour flight back to England.

00:09Smiling and joking on camera, Jamie and his husband, Fingal Greenlaw Meek,

00:15had just wrapped up a wellness retreat in India.

00:19Okay, yeah, my biggest takeaway is don't lose your patience with your partner.

00:24Yeah, you're already starting to, you've already snapped at me while we're having chai at the airport.

00:29Their charisma shines in their final video, filmed in the departure lounge.

00:35Going back happily, happily, happily calm.

00:38They boarded the doomed flight that took more than 200 lives,

00:42leaving behind heartbroken friends and family.

00:47In Ramsgate, Lucy Taylor, who worked closely with the couple

00:50and is helping organise this weekend's Ramsgate Pride, says the loss is unimaginable.

00:57I didn't know where to compartmentalise it because I just imagined,

01:04because once we'd heard the news, we weren't sure if it was true.

01:07I wasn't sure if it was true.

01:08So Heidi, she phoned Jamie's phone.

01:11I just had this image of the phone ringing in the plane in the crash.

01:16It's just harrowing.

01:18I still haven't processed it yet.

01:20I think it's something that will sink in in the coming weeks, I think.

01:27And a couple, how will they both be remembered here at Ramsgate?

01:32They will be remembered as an example of love and light.

01:36Two people can love each other no matter who they are,

01:39and that we will not allow anything more than that to be remembered for them.

01:46They have big plans ahead, bringing their wellness business home to Ramsgate.

01:51We've already helped thousands of people live their most soulful, connected selves.

01:57Earlier this year, Fingal appeared on This Morning.

02:01Today, the programme paid tribute to them.

02:04In Ramsgate, local councillors told us the couple's presence will be deeply missed.

02:09Fingal and Jamie, I think they were new to this community,

02:13but had their own unique energy that had permeated already.

02:18Even people that don't know the two young men will remember them with fondness and kindness,

02:24as I think we will all of the people that lost their lives.

02:27You can feel a stillness in Ramsgate today,

02:31as the community comes to terms with the sudden loss of two of their own.

02:36Meanwhile, in India, investigators have found the black box,

02:40which could be the key to unlocking what went so wrong with Flight 171.
