00:00This poor puppy was caught up in a fire that left her orphaned and all alone.

00:05It was a three-hour drive to our clinic, but thankfully this couple took the time to bring her here.

00:10Pongo was in bad shape.

00:13She could hardly open her eyes and couldn't walk properly due to malnutrition.

00:22We treated her burn wounds and each week Pongo improved more and more.

00:25She's been here for two weeks already, so as you can see her wounds are getting better.

00:31With regular nutritious meals and vitamins, Pongo slowly started to put on weight.

00:40She could walk with more ease and even run and play.

00:46By the one month mark, she finally reached a healthy weight.

00:49She weights 3.6 kilos.

00:52We were so relieved to see her begin to improve.

00:56After a month, she finished her treatment and was able to join the other puppies in our puppy area.

01:11She became a happy, energetic, playful puppy.

01:15Soon enough, Pongo was ready to find a forever home.

01:18So we are here with Pongo. We are getting ready to go to our new forever home.

01:23She was adopted by a local elderly family.

01:30Our clinic will continue to check up on her on a monthly basis to make sure she's doing well.

01:36It's animals like Pongo that inspired me to create the dog care clinic.

01:41When I first came to Sri Lanka, I witnessed the heartbreaking situation of dogs.

01:45There were sick and injured dogs literally everywhere.

01:48I know.

01:50I wanted to do whatever I could to improve the dire situation of millions of dogs in Sri Lanka.

01:55Our main goal is to reduce the number of stray dogs through CNBR.

02:00Catch, neuter, vaccinate, release.

02:03We run spay and neuter campaigns 365 days a year and have already TNR'd 85,000 animals.

02:12We go on a daily feeding tour to feed up to 500 animals on the street.

02:17Our clinic also responds to emergency calls and picks up the animals that require medical care.

02:23There are currently over 1,500 dogs we successfully have placed with loving families.

02:29After these dogs are adopted, we do monthly unaccounted check-ins to ensure the dog's welfare.

02:35All adopted dogs get free medical care from us directly.

02:39Pongo was one of the many dogs who have benefited from our program.
