00:01TV footage showed smoke billowing from the crash site near the airport in Ahmedabad in western India.
00:08The jet, a Boeing 787 belonging to Air India, crashed into a residential area five minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport, the Civil Aviation Authority said.
00:19The agency said emergency teams had been activated at the airport.
00:24The plane was bound for London's Godwick Airport.
00:26It had 232 passengers and 12 crew members on board.
00:32Of these, the airline said 169 are Indian nationals, 53 British and 7 Portuguese.
