Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, President Trump was asked about sending Marines to Los Angeles, California.
Transcript
00:00The Marines is, a lot of people think, an escalatory step, though.
00:03These are guys who fight wars.
00:04Are you at all concerned that things could get out of hand with Marines in American City?
00:08When I see people throwing concrete into cars,
00:11when I see people, the kind of people that I saw on your network,
00:15doing danger to the police and to the military and to the National Guard,
00:20no, it's okay.
00:21You know, you start running out of people.
00:23When you have 2,000 people from a National Guard standpoint,
00:26we have a very big military.
00:28But the National Guard, they needed a little extra help,
00:32and we sent them a little, and we did a great job last night.
00:35We had, well, a lot of cars go up in smoke and flame and a lot of bad scenes,
00:41but it was pretty minor by comparison.
00:45This morning, it's very calm.
00:47We'll see what happens later.
00:48But they know if they go there, they're not going to get anywhere
00:51because we have the National Guard.
00:52We backed it up with a number of Marines, yeah.
