00:00For 35 years, Air Force Special Operations Command has answered the call, adapting,

00:25innovating and overcoming any challenge to meet our nation's needs.

00:29However, FSOC's story began long before the command was officially established, in the

00:34skies over Europe and the Pacific during World War II and in the jungles of Southeast Asia.

00:39In 1980, Operation Eagle Claw proved the need for a force that could meet any challenge,

00:44anytime, anywhere.

00:46The failed rescue mission became a turning point, with later missions in Operation Urgent

00:51Fury and Operation Just Cause showcasing the lethal precision and rapid response that would

00:56come to define Air Force Special Operations Command.

01:00Meeting the demands of an evolving state of warfare, FSOC was established on May 22, 1990

01:06as the air component to U.S. Special Operations Command and the special operations element

01:11of the U.S. Air Force.

01:13Precision Strike, Specialized Mobility, ISR, Special Tactics, Combat Support.

01:20Air Commandos took on the responsibility to deliver specialized air power and integrate unique

01:25skill sets where conventional forces could not go or would not attempt to go.

01:30During Operation Desert Storm, FSOC crews led the way, operating deep behind enemy lines.

01:36These missions laid the foundation for the agile and adaptive team FSOC is today.

01:41Following the terrorist events of 9-11, FSOC forces were among the first to deploy and fight

01:46striking at the heart of terror networks.

01:49From the harsh terrain of Afghanistan to the urban battlegrounds of Iraq,

01:53the Air Commandos pioneered new methods of combat in support of a joint and coalition soft party,

01:59leveraging technology, adaptability, and sheer determination.

02:03Along the way, we executed daring hostage rescues and stood at the forefront of humanitarian support

02:09and disaster relief.

02:11Hurricane Katrina, Beirut, Haiti, Fukushima, Tom Long Cave.

02:17When called, FSOC was always ready to be a beacon of hope to those in need.

02:22No matter the challenge, Air Commandos have always found a way.
