00:08Values to Improve Education.
00:10For decades, Dominican schools have failed to teach moral and civic classes.
00:14Because of this omission, new generations have been educated without a clear foundation of respect, coexistence, and citizenship.
00:22Added to this is the lack of patriotic and constitutional teaching, despite having been established in the Reformed Constitution of 2010.
00:31Now, the Ministry of Education announces that both subjects will return to the school curriculum, as part of a broader strategy to raise educational quality.
00:40This decision comes at an opportune time.
00:42The challenges facing Dominican education, poor performance, school dropouts, violence, and lack of commitment, demand not only better resources,
00:52but also better values.
00:54As Minister Luis Miguel de Camps rightly stated,
00:58the education system cannot limit itself to transmitting knowledge.
01:02It must educate citizens.
01:04Reviving these lessons will help strengthen students' sense of responsibility, national identity, and respectful coexistence.
01:11We fully support this measure.
01:14Educating in values is key to building a more just, more humane, and more committed society.
