00:55The flames of this chaos have destroyed public order, basic services, agricultural production, and hospitals.
01:04The thousands of Haitians who have fled that hell have, despite everything, found refuge in our country.
01:10Here they have received medical care, including free maternity services, access to informal employment,
01:17and the tolerance of a system that has postponed strict enforcement of its immigration laws in the name of a humanitarian response.
01:23But when the ravages of the Haitian collapse began to seriously affect Dominican security, the economy, and social stability,
01:32the state had to act with legitimate immigration control measures.
01:36Repatriations are part of the sovereignty of every country, although in certain cases excesses may occur that must be corrected.
01:44The Vatican News report distorts this reality, deliberately omits the context of extreme violence in Haiti,
01:53and projects an unfair image of the Dominican people and their authorities.
01:59It also ignores the country's consistent voice in international forums,
02:03calling for a comprehensive solution to the Haitian crisis,
02:07as well as its long-standing policy of welcoming humanitarian emergencies.
02:11The Dominican people cannot and should not be held responsible for the mistakes of others
02:16or singled out for exercising their right to preserve their territorial integrity, security, and legality.
