00:00...come from, or how they pray.
00:03Policies may shift, but the human need for safety, for family, and for hope does not.
00:11...people behind these policies.
00:14Let us ensure that Afghan family, other community impact...
00:18The President's order is clearly unfair, discriminatory, and will impact millions and millions of people
00:26who pose no risk whatsoever to our country.
00:29And when we couple this travel ban with everything else that we are seeing in this country at this moment,
00:35including the President's violent escalation of events in California this week,
00:39we know what we are seeing from the President of the United States of America is creeping authoritarianism.
00:45We are seeing dictatorial behavior.
00:48We're seeing suppression of what the President views as the opposition.
00:52We're seeing efforts to erase history, to silence powerful voices against him.
00:56And we're seeing, time and time again, a disregard for the law.
01:01These are all characteristics of a fascist government.
01:04And we need to use not only our legal tools, but use our collective voices to reaffirm the moral righteousness of this country.
01:14Washington stood up in 2017.
01:16And I remember, at the time, working for Governor Inslee.
01:19The President says his travel ban is about national security, but this racist order will not make anyone safer.
01:28The ban has stalled life-saving medical...
01:31I am proud to introduce Governor Bob Ferguson, my predecessor in the Attorney General's Office, to say more.
01:37Thank you, Governor.
01:42First, everybody, please join me in thanking Nick and the incredible team in the AG's office for the fantastic work they've been doing these past few months.
01:49That team works very hard under great leadership in that office.
01:53With federal partners, community organizations, and legal advocates to ensure that...
01:59While it does seem difficult to believe we are back here again, you know, one thing has not changed.
02:04That is, Washington will not just stand up to what's going on.
02:09We will lead on this issue, just like we have in the past.
02:12And I want all Washingtonians to know that.
02:14And as Governor, it's a challenging time.
02:18Nick, you talk about some larger issues that are going on.
02:21But we have a president who just does not seem to understand some basic things about what our country is all about.
02:26We reject the lie that our families are threats.
02:29We reject the silence that tells us to wait our turn.
02:33We reject the cruelty that treats immigrants as disposable.
02:37This ban will hurt people, real people.
02:41It will tear families apart at life's most sacred moments.
02:45Keep loved ones from mourning, celebrating, and holding each other close in their final moments.
02:51It will steal opportunities from brilliant students who deserve a future.
02:56It promises four more years of separation, four more years of sorrow, and we cannot allow this.
03:02Because you don't know how your fate will be.
03:06So in that way, we are kind of affected in one way or the other.
03:09We will not be erased.
03:11We will not be silenced.
03:13We will organize.
03:14We will vote.
03:15And together, we will win.
03:17My heart is heavy, but I find strength in knowing that we are our ancestors' wildest dreams.
03:25We will win.
03:34Pull it out.
03:35Pull it out.
