Little Caesar is a 1931 American pre-Code crime film distributed by Warner Brothers, directed by Mervyn LeRoy, and starring Edward G. Robinson, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Glenda Farrell. The film tells the story of a hoodlum who ascends the ranks of organized crime until he reaches its upper echelons.

The storyline, based on real life Mafia boss Salvatore Maranzano, was adapted from the novel of the same name by William R. Burnett. Little Caesar was Robinson's breakthrough role and immediately made him a major film star. The film is often listed as one of the first fully-fledged gangster films and continues to be well received by critics. The Library of Congress maintains a print.

Plot: An aspiring small-town criminal, Caesar "Rico" Bandello (Edward G. Robinson) relocates to Chicago to hit the big time, accompanied by his buddy, Joe Massara (Douglas Fairbanks Jr.). While Rico makes a name for himself in the underworld, Joe decides to leave the life of crime and ventures into show business, where he meets the lovely dancer Olga (Glenda Farrell). Though Rico and Joe try to honor their friendship, eventually their choices take them down dramatically different paths

00:03:23And then I'd quit, Rico.
00:03:25I'd go back to dancing like I used to before I met you.

00:03:32Dancing.
00:03:33That's what I want to do.

00:03:44Oh, I ain't forgetting all about the money.
00:03:46Yeah, money's all right, but it ain't everything.
00:03:48Now, be somebody.
00:03:50Look hard at a bunch of guys and know that they'll do anything you tell them.

00:04:03We're pulling out.
00:04:05Where are we going?
00:04:07East.
00:04:08Where things break big.
00:04:09And so I beat it east, like I told you.
00:04:23That's all there's to it.
00:04:24I want to run with your mouth if you're letting me.
00:04:28What do you say?
00:04:30You won't be sorry for letting me in, Mr. Vittori.
00:04:32I'll shoot square with you.
00:04:33I'll do anything you say.
00:04:34I ain't afraid of nothing.
00:04:35Well, you think you're a hard guy, huh?
00:04:37Well, there's nothing soft about me, nothing yellow.
00:04:39I don't quit.
00:04:40You got an idea you're good, huh?
00:04:42Well, give me a chance to show you.
00:04:43What do you know about me?
00:04:47Oh, I heard plenty.
00:04:50How you run things this end of town?
00:04:52About this here Club Palermo, how it's your front, I got told enough.
00:04:56I guess you're good with the rod, too, huh?
00:04:57Yeah, quick weather.

00:05:12And I give all the orders.
00:05:14And when we split, we split my way.
00:05:18And no squawks.

00:06:08Oh, little Caesar, huh?
00:06:11Yeah, sure.
00:06:12Sure.
00:06:12Where did you get the new dancers, your boss?
00:06:34Olga brought them around a few days ago.
00:06:36Not bad.
00:06:38All right.
00:06:39I'll say he is.
00:06:58Well, I got hold of a real dancer for a partner, didn't I, Mr. Devart?
00:07:00Oh, he's an elegant dancer.
00:07:03Say, we'll panic them after a few more rehearsals.
00:07:05Say, you're not trying to sell them to me, are you, Olga?
00:07:07Uh-huh.
00:07:08Well, young fellow, I guess a hundred a week ought to buy you.
00:07:12That's more than I generally start them with.
00:07:14That's swell with me, Mr. Devart, even though I don't buy no limousines.
00:07:18Gee, thanks, Mr. Devart.
00:07:19Oh, you will never be sorry for this.
00:07:21Come, Joyce.
00:07:22Come.
00:07:23Come.
00:07:23So, it's you and me from now on.
00:07:29Well, I'm glad.
00:07:32You're not ashamed of service.
00:07:34I guess you know by this time how I feel about you.
00:07:38And that's all right with you, isn't it?
00:07:40Or, or have you got another girl?
00:07:43A steady, I mean.
00:07:45Hundreds of them.
00:07:46Sure, only.
00:07:49Only, what's the difference?
00:07:50This is going to be real, huh?
00:07:53We'll make it mean something.
00:07:55Yeah, Joey.
00:07:57Never.
00:07:58Because I need somebody.
00:08:00Somebody like you.
00:08:02Awful bad.
00:08:04Do you believe me, Olga?
00:08:05I want to believe you.
00:08:14What's that?
00:08:17What you got there, Joe?
00:08:20What are you doing with that?
00:08:34Can't you forget you've seen it?
00:08:37It won't make no difference.
00:08:38Not between us, Olga.
00:08:42Don't worry, baby.
00:08:44It's just a little good luck charm I carry around with me.
00:08:47Is that your racket?
00:08:48It won't make no difference.
00:08:49Maybe.
00:08:54I suppose I got no right to ask you, Joe.
00:08:59But now, now that we got an understanding,
00:09:04couldn't you leave it?
00:09:11No.
00:09:12I suppose I haven't got the right.
00:09:14What would be the good of you asking, kid?
00:09:19Once in a gang?
00:09:21You know the rest.
00:09:22I don't want to know.
00:09:24Only maybe,
00:09:26maybe it could be different this time.
00:09:29If we try.
00:09:33I've never seen the guy that could get away with it yet.
00:09:36I've never seen it.
00:09:45Nice.
00:09:47It's a very good.
00:09:53San Vettori is still waiting for you in your office.
00:09:57All right.
00:09:57I guess I'll have to see him.

00:10:23But they'll let me go first.
00:10:29Cut that.
00:10:29Hello, Arnie.
00:10:34Surprised to see me in your swell joint?
00:10:38Maybe I won't be.
00:10:40After you tell me what you want here.
00:10:42Oh, I'll tell you all right.
00:10:44Diamond Pete asked me to come up.
00:10:46He's coming up too.
00:10:48Pete Montana?
00:10:49That's who.
00:10:51Well, if Pete wants you here,
00:10:52it's got to be all right with me.
00:10:56Hello, Mr. Montana.
00:10:57Hello.
00:10:59Hello, Arnie.
00:11:12Hello, Pete.
00:11:12How are you?
00:11:13Hello, Vettori.
00:11:14Hello, boss.

00:11:25A message from a big boy.
00:11:30Now, listen.
00:11:31Here's the lowdown.
00:11:33The big boy says that...
00:11:34Just a minute, boss.
00:11:36Hey, you.
00:11:38Nobody asked you to be brought me in here, did they?
00:11:41Screw, mug.
00:11:42You ain't giving me orders.
00:11:43You're a fresh guy, huh?
00:11:45Take it easy, Rico.
00:11:47Or you go out there and wait for me.
00:11:51Check with me, boss.
00:11:52Now, listen, boys.
00:12:08Watch this guy, McClure.
00:12:09What's head of the new crime commission.
00:12:11He's putting the screws on, and make no mistake about it.
00:12:15Now, the big boy wants me to tell you guys
00:12:18to put the chains on your gorillas for the next few months.
00:12:20Because if any of them go too far, it'll be just too bad.
00:12:25Oh.
00:12:26I never seen nobody the big boy couldn't get to.
00:12:29He can fix anything.
00:12:30That's why he's the big boy.
00:12:33This boy, McClure, will be fine for him.
00:12:35He'll twist him around his little finger.
00:12:37Don't kid yourself.
00:12:39Nobody's squaring nothing with McClure.
00:12:42Not even the big boy.
00:12:44Small jobs are stiff.
00:12:46They could spring guys for them.
00:12:48But shooting?
00:12:50No, sir.
00:12:52It's guys like this torpedo of you on that cause all the trouble.
00:12:57Oh, Rico?
00:12:59He's all right.
00:13:00He's a little quick on the trigger, but that's because he's new.
00:13:04Yeah?
00:13:05Well, it's us that'll swing for him.
00:13:08If he shoots at the wrong time.
00:13:11Now, remember what I told you.
00:13:12Come on.
00:13:14Song.
00:13:15And you.
00:13:21You take it easy with that cannon of yours.
00:13:25Did you hear me?
00:13:31Yes, Mr. Montana.
00:13:35Good night, fellas.
00:13:36Good night.
00:13:37Good night.
00:13:37Good night.
00:13:37Good night.
00:13:38Good night.
00:13:41Do yourself a favor, will you, Rico?
00:13:44Leave your gat home on the piano the next job you pull.
00:13:47Yeah.
00:13:48Park it next to your milk bottle.
00:13:50Uh, run your own mob, Arnie.
00:13:53I'll take care of mine.
00:13:54Yeah, I'll park it.
00:13:56I don't need no cannon to take care of guys like you, Mr. Lortz.
00:14:07Don't try to get on the kader.
00:14:11Let's take a break.
00:14:13Let me show you, Mr. Lortz.

00:14:18Let me show you.
00:14:19Oh, no, let me show you.
00:14:20Let me show you.
00:14:21Let me show you.
00:14:21Let me know.
00:14:26Yeah.
00:14:26Yeah, we got to be careful.
00:14:27Little Arnie's interest in this here nightclub.
00:14:29Oh, they'll never get wise to it.
00:14:31It's gonna be a finch.
00:14:32They're careless, but we've never been tapped.
00:14:34Yeah, but I don't like to hold business.
00:14:36Neither do I, Sam.
00:14:38Honest, I don't.
00:14:39I couldn't sleep last night.
00:14:41I was that worried.
00:14:42I don't want to take any chances.
00:14:44Not now the way they're closing down on us.
00:14:46What's the matter, Tony? Getting yellow?
00:14:48No, but...
00:14:50Gee, none of us want to hang, do we?
00:14:51You'd like to quit, wouldn't you?
00:14:53You'd like to run out on us, wouldn't you?
00:14:55You're yellow, you dirty.
00:14:56Wait a minute, Rico.
00:14:58Where do you get that yellow stuff?
00:15:01You want to know who's yellow?
00:15:03I'll tell you.
00:15:04Joe Massara.
00:15:05Your pal.
00:15:07That's why he didn't show up here tonight.
00:15:09Joe will be here just because he's late.
00:15:10Well, I know all about that stuff.
00:15:12I'm gonna give him ten minutes more.
00:15:14And we'll see.
00:15:15Now, listen, Sam.
00:15:16Joe's all right.
00:15:17He's the best front man in the world.
00:15:19Why, he can go into a swell hotel and order a sweet.
00:15:21A sweet, and it's all right.
00:15:23Without Joe, we can't pull this job, and you'll know it.
00:15:26What's that paper?
00:15:27It's this layout I've been figuring out with Scabby.
00:15:31What, this nightclub job?
00:15:32Yeah.
00:15:33Well, let me see it.
00:15:35And until I say different, nobody's gonna plan for this mob but me.

00:16:35Oh, well, you know how it is.
00:16:36Yeah, I know how it is.
00:16:37They've been saying get in there, only I didn't believe them.
00:16:40They're crazy when they call you yellow.
00:16:43Uh, tell them they can go to...
00:16:47Say, what's the big idea of the rush, anyway?
00:16:51It's a little job we need you for.
00:16:54A little job at the bronze peacock.
00:17:00What do you mean?
00:17:02You trying to kid me or something?
00:17:06How can I take the chance?
00:17:08They're all my friends. They all know me.
00:17:10That's why. They'll never suspect you.
00:17:12Now, don't stall, Joe.
00:17:14I ain't stalling.
00:17:16You gotta get me out of this, Rico.
00:17:18You gotta.
00:17:20I don't wanna...
00:17:22Well, don't you see? I'm... I'm working steady now, and...
00:17:25Oh, can't a guy ever say he's through?
00:17:27Well, you're gonna be in on this, and you'll like it.
00:17:31The time is to be sharp midnight on New Year's Eve.
00:17:35I won't. I can't.
00:17:37I can't. Don't you see? I...
00:17:39Gee, I... I'll be working New Year's Eve.
00:17:41Now, listen, Joe.
00:17:43This is the joint where you're working.
00:17:45And don't you be forgetting it, either.
00:17:48Come on in.
00:17:51Well, maybe it ain't so hot.
00:17:53Maybe we can't buck little Arnie.
00:17:54I can.
00:17:55Oh, you're too good, that's what.
00:17:58Hello, Joe.
00:18:00You were in a big hurry about getting here, weren't you?
00:18:03Maybe this kind of work ain't your liking, huh?
00:18:04Oh, Joe's all right. He's in with us.

00:18:30And there's nobody else.
00:18:32That's plain, ain't it?
00:18:34Sure.
00:18:36Only who stands here?
00:18:38You kind of forgot that, didn't you?
00:18:40Well, I'm bossing this job, not you.

00:19:25I want to buy him a lemonade.
00:19:26Not tonight, Arnie.
00:19:27Some other time.
00:19:28Go on.
00:19:29Anyhow.
00:19:30Some other time.
00:19:31Come here.

00:19:45Come here.
00:19:47What is it, Arnie? What is it?
00:19:49Bring McClure over here. I want to buy him a lemonade.
00:19:53Not tonight, Arnie. Some other time.
00:19:55Go on. Do it, you're told.
00:19:57Go on, DeVos. Bring him here.
00:20:00As you wish.
00:20:02Oh, it's the way you see him for more.
00:20:05Good evening, Mr. McClure.
00:20:11Good evening, DeVos. Quite a party, eh?
00:20:13Thank you. Thank you. Delighted to have you with us, folks.
00:20:16Good evening.
00:20:17Uh, Mr. McClure.
00:20:19A, uh, Mr. Lodge.
00:20:21A financial backer of mine would like very much to meet you.
00:20:24May I bring him over to your table?
00:20:26Lodge? Lodge?
00:20:28You mean the man they call Little Arnie?
00:20:30Yes.
00:20:31And you say that he's a financial backer of yours?
00:20:34Yes.
00:20:35I didn't understand that a man of his type was connected with this place.
00:20:39I'm sorry, DeVos, but you might inform Mr. Lodge that we're leaving.
00:20:44I came to this place under a misapprehension.
00:20:46Now, Mr. McClure, I...
00:20:47I'm sorry, folks, but we'll have to go somewhere else.
00:20:57You like my hair this way, Joey?
00:21:00Sure.
00:21:03I used to wear...
00:21:05Where you going?
00:21:09Just to get a package of cigarettes.
00:21:10Well, hurry back, darling.
00:21:12It's almost 12 o'clock and I want to be with you for New Year's.
00:21:15I'll be back in a minute.
00:21:16I'll be back in a minute.
00:21:45Ugh.
00:21:46I'll be back.
00:21:47Let it go.
00:21:48Oh.
00:21:49We'll go.
00:21:50Oh, should I get a chance?
00:21:51Let's go...
00:21:53Oh.
00:21:54Oh, Lord!
00:21:55Oh, please, sir.
00:22:00You're gonna have to get to go!
00:22:02Yeah!
00:22:04It's noble.
00:22:34Hey, where you are, all of you.
00:22:47Go out! Go, go!
00:22:49Go, go!
00:23:01And open the roof, Rooney. This ain't no picnic.
00:23:04What's the matter, Tony? Losing your nerve?
00:23:07Come on. Get out of here.
00:23:10Come on. Get out of here.
00:23:11Come on, now.
00:23:20Happy New Year.
00:23:24Why, Joey.
00:23:27Joey.
00:23:30What is it? What's the matter?
00:23:32What's the matter?
00:23:35Nothing.
00:23:39It's all right.
00:23:43The joint's been held up, that's all.
00:23:45Held up?
00:23:47They... they shot McClure.
00:23:50Joe.
00:23:51Well, now you know.
00:23:52It was you.
00:23:53No. No, it's a lie.
00:23:54I...
00:23:55You shot McClure.
00:23:56No.
00:23:57No, I didn't. I swear I didn't.
00:23:58It wasn't me that shot him. It was...
00:24:05I don't know who.
00:24:09But it's our hips for this job, all right.
00:24:11Maybe...
00:24:12Maybe everything will be all right, Joey.
00:24:19Maybe he wasn't hurt... badly.
00:24:22But you're through with that bunch.
00:24:24Oh, you don't belong, Joe.
00:24:25You're not that kind.
00:24:27You'll never go near them again.
00:24:31Olga...
00:24:34You can't go back...
00:24:36On a gang.
00:24:43Well...
00:24:44Everything come off all right? Tell me.
00:24:46Everything was all right.
00:24:48Only I had to take care of a guy.
00:24:50Who was it?
00:24:51McClure.
00:24:55McClure.
00:24:57You shot McClure.
00:25:00A million guys in this town...
00:25:03and you had to pick the crime commissioner.
00:25:07What did I tell you, Rico?
00:25:09Didn't I say to make it clean?
00:25:11Didn't I say no gunplay?
00:25:12You think I'm gonna let a guy pull a gad on me?
00:25:15Any more of these cracks...
00:25:16and this is my last job.
00:25:18The head of the crime commission.
00:25:21The big boy can't do us no good this trip.
00:25:24They'll get a dead shoer now.
00:25:26What am I gonna do?
00:25:27Well, why don't you go and give yourself up?
00:25:30You're slipping, Sam.
00:25:32And Tony, what about him?
00:25:34Where is he?
00:25:35Getting rid of the car.
00:25:36Tony got nervous. He's just like a big baby.
00:25:57What a fine pick of where he is.
00:25:58What a fine pick of where he is.
00:25:59What a fine pick of where he is.
00:26:27You and that rod of yours.
00:26:39Flaherty's downstairs.
00:26:41A couple of dicks with him.
00:26:42They're coming right up.
00:26:44Now stand where you are, all of you.
00:26:46They won't know nothing unless they pick Tony up.
00:26:48Give them the sass.
00:26:50I'll be in here listening.
00:27:03Happy New Year, boys.
00:27:07Say, there's a lonesome touring car down the street.
00:27:10I was wondering if you happen to know anything about it.
00:27:14How should I know anything about it?
00:27:16Ain't it got license plates on it?
00:27:18Yes, but they're phony.
00:27:20It was stolen on the north side tonight.
00:27:24Oh, I got a good cafe business.
00:27:25I don't know nothing about automobiles, what's been stolen.
00:27:29Well, you might if some of the bright young men around here had anything to do with it.
00:27:34Wouldn't you?
00:27:36Wasn't there anybody in it?
00:27:38Yes, one guy.
00:27:40But not when we got there.
00:27:41He beat it.
00:27:44But we got a good description of him, though.
00:27:48I'm telling you, I don't know nothing about it.
00:27:52Well, come on, fellas.
00:27:53As long as Vittorah doesn't know anything about it.
00:28:01All say.
00:28:02Have you heard the news, Vittorah?
00:28:05No, what?
00:28:07Someone knocked off Alvin McClure over at the bronze pecan.
00:28:12McClure?
00:28:14No, that's terrible.
00:28:16Some guys are sure careless with the lead, all right.
00:28:19What a tough break for Arnie.
00:28:20It's gonna be a tough break for a lot of birds.
00:28:24Well, so long.
00:28:26Oh, I forgot to wish you fellas a Merry Christmas.
00:28:29Oh, I forgot to wish you fellas a Merry Christmas.
00:28:56It's Tony.
00:28:58I can't figure him.
00:29:00The kid's a great driver.
00:29:02Oh, he must have lost his nerve.
00:29:04I'll take care of him.
00:29:06Now, let's see the color of that mug.
00:29:07Yeah, just a minute, Sam.
00:29:08I got my own ideas of a split this time.
00:29:09And you can take it my way or leave it.
00:29:10We ain't begging you.
00:29:11Yeah?
00:29:12Well, I bossed this job.
00:29:13And I'm gonna get my split in the regular way or else.
00:29:14Well, how'd you boss this job?
00:29:15By sitting here in your office cheating yourself a solitaire?
00:29:16Well, that don't go no more.
00:29:17Not with me, it don't.
00:29:18We're done.
00:29:19I've been taking orders from you too long.
00:29:20Yeah, and you'll keep on taking orders too.
00:29:21Or you'll get out of here so fast.
00:29:22Yeah, well, maybe it won't be me that gets out.
00:29:23No?
00:29:24Yeah.
00:29:25Well, maybe the boys have got something to say about that.
00:29:27What about it?
00:29:28Well, I'm not sure I'm going to take it my way or leave it.
00:29:29I'm not sure I'm going to take it my way or leave it.
00:29:30We ain't begging you.
00:29:31Yeah?
00:29:32Well, I bossed this job.
00:29:33And I'm gonna get my split in the regular way or else.
00:29:34Well, how'd you boss this job?
00:29:35By sitting here in your office cheating yourself a solitaire?
00:29:36Well, that don't go no more.
00:29:37Not with me, it don't.
00:29:38We're done.
00:29:39I've been taking orders from you too long.
00:29:40Yeah, well, maybe it won't be me that gets out.
00:29:42No?
00:29:43Yeah.
00:29:44Well, maybe the boys have got something to say about that.
00:29:46What about it?
00:29:59So, that's it, huh?
00:30:01Yeah.
00:30:02That's it, all right.
00:30:04Sam, you can dish it out, but you're getting so,
00:30:07you can't take it no more.
00:30:09Well?
00:30:10Well, the split's okay with me, Rico.
00:30:11How about you, boys?
00:30:12No hard feelings, eh, Sam?
00:30:16We gotta stick together.
00:30:17There's a rope around my neck right now, and they only hang it once.
00:30:22If anybody turns yellow and squeals, my gun's gonna speak at speed.
00:30:27What's the matter, Antonio?
00:30:28Why you don't sleep?
00:30:32You sick baby?
00:30:33Huh?
00:30:34Yeah.
00:30:35You sick baby?
00:30:36Huh?
00:30:37Yeah.
00:30:38Oh, what?
00:30:39No, what?
00:30:40No, no.
00:30:41Can't a guy get up and he wants to without answering a lot of foolish questions?
00:30:45Stay out late night.
00:30:46You drink a lot of wine.
00:30:47Leave me alone.
00:30:48Oh, listen, Antonio.
00:30:49I'll...
00:30:50Oh, listen, Antonio.
00:30:51I have some spaghetti for you on this stove.
00:30:53If you feel better.
00:30:54Don't you?
00:30:55Don't you?
00:30:56Don't you?
00:30:57Don't you?

00:31:14Don't you?
00:31:15Don't you blow your pensions?
00:31:16I'll go to the psyche full day.
00:31:18Ah indulge you, arche.
00:31:22Just eggs and stimulants.
00:31:23Trials.
00:31:24O me?
00:31:25Don't you?
00:31:26No.
00:31:27On the prowad Calls of Dooley's Wife.
00:31:28All right, what?
00:31:29Can you cry?
00:31:30Don't I cry?
00:31:31But when you sing in the church, in the choir with Father MacNeil, you, in white, remember?
00:31:44Father MacNeil.
00:31:47The church was beautiful. You little boy with long hair, the tall, big candle, flower.
00:31:56Remember, Antonio?
00:32:20Don't leave me, Maury, you hear?
00:32:26You don't have to go now, do you? Can't you stay a little while with me?
00:32:31Please don't go away. Please.
00:32:33Oh, God, oh, mio, I'm sick. I don't go away.
00:32:40Oh, mio, go on. Oh, my boy. Oh, my boy.
00:32:46I'll be all right, Ma.
00:32:53You'd better run along, do you hear? You run alone.
00:32:58Take good care of yourself, will you, huh?
00:33:02And give my love to Mrs. Mancheer, will you, huh?
00:33:06Yeah, give my love to Mrs. Mancheer, will you?
00:33:09Yeah.

00:33:47I'm looking all over for you.
00:33:49Rico wants you to come and get your split.
00:33:51Hey, Tony, where you been?
00:33:54I'm looking all over for you.
00:33:56Rico wants you to come and get your split.
00:34:05What's the matter, Tony? Don't you want a split?
00:34:09Are you crazy?
00:34:11I'm not crazy.
00:34:12I don't want no split.
00:34:15Listen, Tony.
00:34:17Rico knows you'll lose your nerve.
00:34:19Now, he wants you to be a man.
00:34:21You better not turn yellow.
00:34:23Get away from me, Otero.
00:34:25Leave me alone.
00:34:26Listen, kid, I'm trying to tell you for your own good.
00:34:28Now, you come with me and get your split.
00:34:30Hey, Tony.
00:34:32Tony, where are you going?
00:34:33I'm going to see Father McNeil.
00:34:40Rico!
00:34:43I found Tony, but it's too late.
00:34:46He's crazy, crazy.
00:34:47I tell him to be a man, but he just shake his head and go to the priest.
00:34:50Well, I guess that's that.
00:34:52We ain't got any time to lose.
00:34:54Come on, Sam, get yourself a car and let's go.
00:34:56Not me.
00:34:57Take, take Scabby.
00:34:58No, Scabby's no good.
00:34:59No, I'm no good.
00:35:00Can you drive, Otero?
00:35:01Sure.
00:35:01All right, let's go.
00:35:02We lose the black road, sir.
00:35:03There it is.

00:35:43Well, this was no time to be tight with money.
00:35:46Tony deserved a swell send-off.
00:35:49Poor kid.
00:35:51Yeah, but Rico's wreath beat them all.
00:35:53It was me.
00:35:55And all it had on it was Tony.
00:35:57Not even Rico's name.
00:35:59Yeah, Rico's no biker.
00:36:02Tony looked like he was asleep.
00:36:05Didn't look a bit changed.
00:36:08Beats me how they do it.
00:36:10Got a match?
00:36:16Look, Rico.
00:36:19There's Flaherty, the bull.
00:36:21Huh?
00:36:25Ah.
00:36:28Things must be getting pretty hot.
00:36:30What's he want?
00:36:31I just stall and he ain't got a thing on me.
00:36:37Gee, we're moving slow.
00:36:38We got plenty of time.
00:36:42The banquet won't start until 8.
00:36:44Yeah.
00:36:48Too bad Tony won't be there.
00:36:54Ooh.
00:36:55Well, that's the goods, all right.
00:37:04That's the fanciest I've ever seen, Sam.
00:37:06It is.
00:37:06Well, look at those little turtle doves down here.
00:37:09Friendship and loyalty, huh?
00:37:12Well, how do you like that, Sam?
00:37:14Huh?
00:37:14Pretty good, Rico.
00:37:15You know, Tara was telling me I didn't look good in the derby.
00:37:17What do you think?
00:37:18Well, it's just like you, Rico.
00:37:19Yeah, I thought so, too.
00:37:20I guess I'll stick to him from now on.
00:37:23Compliments to a true pal, Mr. C. Bondella,
00:37:26from a true pal, Mr. Sam Batoil.
00:37:29That's nice.
00:37:30I appreciate, Sam.
00:37:31That's swell of you.
00:37:33Remember the...
00:37:34That's clever, sir.
00:37:36Why are you surprised me to give him a little more?
00:37:38I don't know how to give him a little more.
00:37:40That's why I want to say.
00:37:41That certainly is swell of you.
00:37:43I don't know how to give him a little more.
00:37:46How is it?
00:37:46100%.
00:37:47Hey, Joe!
00:37:48If you see...
00:37:49What's the matter with you, Bert?
00:37:58Don't you know how to act at a banquet?
00:38:00What do you think you are, a lot of gas honk yaps?
00:38:03Well, cut that chatter.
00:38:07Gabby's going to make a speech.
00:38:08Well, folks, you all know what we're here for.
00:38:22So what's the good of me telling you all about it?
00:38:27Rico here is a great guy.
00:38:30Well, I don't know how to talk fancy, but this here watch is for you.
00:38:51See?
00:38:52From the boys.

00:39:47Well, uh, I guess that's about all
00:39:51Hooray! Hooray!
00:39:54Yeah, and only I wish you birds wouldn't get drunk and raise a lot of cane
00:39:57Because that's the way a lot of birds get bumped off
00:39:59Yeah, come on, lay off that stuff, I know what I'm...
00:40:02A couple of newspaper guys out there want to take a picture
00:40:05What do you say, boss?
00:40:06Well, what do you think of that, huh?
00:40:08Sure, send them in, only tell them to make it snappy
00:40:10I'll see you later, Ricko
00:40:11Oh, don't go away, Pete, will you?
00:40:13We're going to have our pictures taken
00:40:14I haven't had my picture taken in the last 15 years
00:40:17Well, what do you think of that 15 years?
00:40:21Come on, boys, make it snappy
00:40:22We ain't got it all evening
00:40:23There you are
00:40:35Now, hold it, hold it, go!
00:40:49That guy's over there
00:40:51That was a bad play you made then, Ricko
00:40:53That flashlight
00:40:54They might pick you up on that
00:40:57Oh, what do I care?
00:40:59Don't I want folks to see what the boys think of me?
00:41:01Hey, Ricko
00:41:02What become of that pal of yours, that dancer guy
00:41:05Joe Massara
00:41:06He didn't come
00:41:11He ain't been around in a long time
00:41:15He didn't quit on you, did he, Ricko?
00:41:18Bad business to quit on me, Sam
00:41:20One guy feathered on me once
00:41:23Now, you mind your own business and let me tend to my own
00:41:26What does that bull want in here?
00:41:34I'll show him where he gets off
00:41:36Careful, Rico
00:41:37Who invited you here?
00:41:42You're getting up in the world
00:41:43Aren't you, Rico?
00:41:46The downstairs is open to anybody, even cops
00:41:48But the upstairs is private
00:41:50Thanks
00:41:51But I like to keep my eye on you, Rico
00:41:54You see, I'm your friend
00:41:56I like to see a young fellow getting up in the world
00:41:59That's all
00:42:00So long
00:42:02Hurry back
00:42:05I will
00:42:07Oh, say
00:42:11Somebody threw a brick through Maya Blum's window last night
00:42:15You don't happen to know anything about a diamond and platinum watch
00:42:19It was stolen, do you?
00:42:22If you hear anything about it, let me know, won't you?
00:42:49Banquet, eh?
00:43:02Hmm
00:43:03Rico got far
00:43:06Too far
00:43:08So now he's got to stop
00:43:11I'm saying he's got to stop
00:43:13Oh, Arnie, are you fellas going to start another scrap?
00:43:16What's the use of my paying heavy dough for protection if there's never any peace?
00:43:20Don't you worry, DeVos, there'll be peace soon enough
00:43:22I'm saying he's got to stop, so he's going to stop
00:43:26He's been cutting in on my territory
00:43:28And that's all wet with me
00:43:30Look
00:43:32I'm sitting here, see?
00:43:37I'm sitting here quiet
00:43:38Smoking a cigarette, see?
00:43:41For a couple of my boys
00:43:43Ain't sitting here
00:43:44They're out
00:43:46Looking for Rico
00:43:47And they got their guts with them, too
00:43:49Catch on
00:43:50And when they find him
00:43:52At what binog banquet that Rico gets
00:43:55It'll be awake
00:43:56Arnie, you know best
00:44:02I've never met Rico
00:44:04Help, through the way far
00:44:10Hello, Otero
00:44:13This is Joe Massara
00:44:14Listen, I just found out something
00:44:15This is hot
00:44:16Tell Rico to look out
00:44:17Little Arnie's gang's after him
00:44:18They're going to put one in him
00:44:19What's the matter?
00:44:23What is Rico?
00:44:24Look at me
00:44:24He ain't showed up yet
00:44:25Come on, quick
00:44:26We've got to find him
00:44:27I want ten of these
00:44:32Gee, you taking all these papers, Mr. Rico?
00:44:38Why, sure, ain't I got my picture in them?
00:44:40Hank!
00:44:41Come again!
00:44:42Hank!
00:44:43That's all right
00:44:44Thanks!
00:44:45Come again!
00:44:45Come again!
00:44:57How many
00:44:58Who
00:45:02Who
00:45:04Who
00:45:08Come on, come on!
00:45:28Fine shot, you are!
00:45:30Oh, no!
00:45:30Oh, wait!
00:45:31Oh, wait!
00:45:33Oh!
00:45:34So, somebody finally put one in you.
00:45:48Yeah, but they just grazed me, though.
00:45:50The old man will be glad to hear it.
00:45:52He takes such an interest in you.
00:45:54Now, you tell them the cops couldn't get me no other way,
00:45:56so they hired a couple of gunmen.
00:45:59If I wasn't on the force, I'd have done the job cheap.
00:46:03Hey, did you ever stop to think how you'd look with a lily in your hand?
00:46:06No, I never did.
00:46:07I've been in this game a good many years,
00:46:10and I put the cuffs on a lot of mugs.
00:46:12Someday you and I are going to take a ride, Rico.
00:46:15And when we do, I'll have the cuffs on you, too.
00:46:19No buzzer like you will ever put any cuffs on Rico.
00:46:23Hmm. Come on, boys.
00:46:25I'm going to get that swell-headed mug if it's the last thing I ever do.
00:46:34Want me to phone you?
00:46:35Boss, I'm sorry. I should have been with you.
00:46:38They thought they hit the target, boss.
00:46:39But bullets just bounce off of you.
00:46:44It was little on here, Rico.
00:46:46Joe Massaro got the technician called out.
00:46:48We couldn't find you in time.
00:46:50Joe, huh?
00:46:50Well, I didn't think he cared enough.
00:46:57Thought I was white of him, all right.
00:47:00I ought to give him a chance on my next job.
00:47:02There.
00:47:03Guess I didn't study medicine for nothing, did I?
00:47:05Thanks, Cappy.
00:47:07I'm going to see little Arnie tonight.
00:47:10If he's looking for trouble, why, that's what we got the most of.
00:47:13I want Killer Pepe, Otero, Kid Bean, and Bat to go with me.
00:47:17Hmm.
00:47:20Listen, Handsome, open up, or you'll tell nobody nothing, no more.
00:47:43Tell them we're all right and don't act nervous.
00:47:50These guys are all right.
00:48:03Come on, stick them up.
00:48:05Knock that door.
00:48:06Where's Arnie?
00:48:07In the office?
00:48:09Matt, you stay outside that door and don't let anybody come in.
00:48:12Kid, you keep them covered.
00:48:13Pepe and Otero, follow me.
00:48:15Come on, you.
00:48:15Give them the knock.
00:48:20Come on, tell up.
00:48:30Come on, tell up.
00:48:30Come on, tell up.
00:48:31Come on, tell up.
00:48:31Come on.
00:48:31Come on, tell up.
00:48:31Come on.
00:48:38Hello, Arnie.
00:48:40How's business?
00:48:41What's the game?
00:48:50I don't know what this is all about, but it's a private route.
00:48:55You guys better beat it.
00:48:57Ain't nobody going to leave this room.
00:48:59You guys are invited to this private party.
00:49:02Suppose we don't want to stay.
00:49:04And I wouldn't stop you for the world.
00:49:07Only these boys of mine have itching fingers.
00:49:11Sit down, gents.
00:49:12Arnie, you ought to have better sense than to hire a couple of outside yaps.
00:49:21Especially bad shots.
00:49:24Come on, what is it?
00:49:25Let's have it!
00:49:28Arnie?
00:49:30You're through.
00:49:32You hire these mugs.
00:49:33They missed.
00:49:33Now you're through.
00:49:34If you ain't out of town by tomorrow morning, you won't never leave it except in a pine box.
00:49:39I'm taking over this territory.
00:49:44From now on, it's mine.
00:49:46You're growing, Rico.
00:49:48So this is what you've been after all the time, eh?
00:49:51I seen it in your eyes the first time I met you.
00:49:54You're no good, Rico.
00:49:56But if you think you can muscle in on me like you did on Sanbatore, you're off your nut.
00:50:00I suppose you forgot all about Pete Montana, huh?
00:50:06How's the damn thing going to stop me?
00:50:08He may be your boss, but he ain't mine.
00:50:10Sam didn't feel that way about him.
00:50:13Sam knew who gave order.
00:50:14Yeah, Sam was too soft.
00:50:15Diamond Pete could scare him, but I ain't no Sam.
00:50:18Sam is through.
00:50:19Now you're through, too.
00:50:25Nice stick pin you got there, Arnie.
00:50:33Nothing funny about my jewelry.
00:50:35Ernie, you better quit this racket.
00:50:44You can dish it out, but you got so that you can't take it no more.
00:50:50And you better take your hats and beat it.
00:50:53The first thing you know, you'll be arrested for finding a rod in the city limits.
00:50:56Oh, uh, pleasant trip, gents.
00:51:13Come on, boys.
00:51:14Oh, thanks, boys, for the artillery.
00:51:22Well, boys, what do you think of it?
00:51:40Scabby, you're in the wrong racket.
00:51:42It's perfect.
00:51:55That means you have a new partner.
00:51:59Little Caesar.
00:52:17Everybody laugh at Scabby's story.
00:52:21Gee, boys, you give Arnie an awful wallopin'.
00:52:24You see, Otero, there ain't no use in being scared of any of these big guys.
00:52:40The bigger they come, the harder they fall.
00:52:43Hmm.
00:52:44Yeah.
00:52:44I ain't doing so bad in this business so far.
00:52:55I don't know.
00:52:57Oh, you look great, boss.
00:52:59Yeah, but it feels terrible.
00:53:01Oh, you're getting up in the world, Rico.
00:53:04You know, there ain't none of us ever been invited up to eat at the big boy's dump.
00:53:08And nobody ever crashed the gate except Pete Montana.
00:53:11See what I mean?
00:53:11Now, you don't want the big boy to think you ain't got no class.
00:53:16Yeah, they're rigging up better than this in the stir.
00:53:18If you think I'm going out in this harness, you're crazy.
00:53:21Oh, you look fine, boss.
00:53:22Go on.
00:53:23Go on.
00:53:23Take a peek at yourself.
00:53:24Oh, I don't know.
00:53:27Yeah, all I need is a napkin over my arm.
00:53:33Now, don't you look fine?
00:53:37Hmm?
00:53:37Hmm.
00:53:37I guess maybe it don't look so bad after all.
00:53:57Oh, hello.
00:53:58Oh, hello, big boy.
00:54:00Hello, Rico.
00:54:01Oh, yeah, yeah, thanks.
00:54:06Thanks very much.
00:54:13Well, you're rather lit up tonight, aren't you?
00:54:15Yeah, I thought I'd better put on the monkey suit.
00:54:19That's right.
00:54:20You may as well learn now.
00:54:22Yeah.
00:54:23Well, some joints you got here.
00:54:27It'll do.
00:54:28Well, I bet all this strict furniture set you back plenty, huh?
00:54:34Well, they don't exactly give it away with cigar coupons.
00:54:37I'll tell the world.
00:54:39Boy, it sure looks...
00:54:41Oh, look at that.
00:54:43You like it?
00:54:44Oh, I think it's elegant.
00:54:47That cost me $15,000.
00:54:50$15,000?
00:54:51Boy, them gold frames sure cost plenty of dough.
00:54:57Well, will you have a cocktail or a dash of brandy?
00:55:00Oh, no, no, no, thanks.
00:55:01I never touched the stuff, never.
00:55:03No?
00:55:03Oh.
00:55:04Cigar, then.
00:55:05Oh, yeah, I'll have one of those.
00:55:08Thanks.
00:55:09Thanks very much.
00:55:13Sit down, Rico.
00:55:14Yeah, thanks.
00:55:18Hmm.
00:55:18Hmm.
00:55:18Hmm.
00:55:21Why?
00:55:26Now, listen, Rico.
00:55:29I'm going to talk to you, but you're not going to hear a word I say, see?
00:55:33This is inside dope, and if it gets out, it'll be just too bad for somebody.
00:55:38Well, you know me.
00:55:40All right.
00:55:41Get this.
00:55:43Pete Montana's through.
00:55:46Yeah?
00:55:48Well.
00:55:49And I thought he was such a big guy.
00:55:52He's through.
00:55:55Suppose I were to tell you that from now on, you were Pete Montana.
00:56:01That you were to take over his territory in addition to your own.
00:56:04Would you shake on it?
00:56:06Would I?
00:56:09Would I?
00:56:10Yeah.
00:56:10All right, it's set.
00:56:17I'm doing a lot for you, Rico.
00:56:19But when I get you planted, I'll expect plenty of service.
00:56:23You'll sure get it.
00:56:26Permit me, then, to drink to the new boss of the north side.
00:56:31What did I tell you, huh?
00:56:33What did I tell you, huh?
00:56:55Otero, what did I tell you, huh?
00:57:01I knew it was coming.
00:57:03I knew he had his eyes on me all the time.
00:57:07Now, let me tell you something, Otero.
00:57:09It's not only Pete Montana that's through,
00:57:11but the big boy himself.
00:57:13He ain't what he used to be.
00:57:15Pretty soon, he won't be able to take it.
00:57:17And then, watch me.
00:57:20Sure, boss.
00:57:22Pretty soon, you'll be running the whole town.
00:57:24Otero, you said a mouthful.
00:57:26There's a guy by the name of Massara out there.
00:57:31He wants to see you, sir.
00:57:33I'll see him in a minute.
00:57:35Yes, sir.
00:57:36What's your one around here?
00:57:38He hasn't been near any of us for months.
00:57:40I sent for him.
00:57:42I heard that somebody in Detroit got to Florida
00:57:44and told him to start working on a dancer
00:57:46at the Bronze Peacock.
00:57:47He wanted to find out who shot McClure.
00:57:50See, boss, you're wise to everything before it happens.
00:57:54Yeah, I don't miss much.
00:57:56I'll soon find out if Flaherty's been working on Joe
00:57:58after I've had a little talk with him.
00:58:00I'll see you next time.
00:58:18Gee, Rico.
00:58:19What a pass!
00:58:21Oh, hello, Joe.
00:58:24Yeah, it'll do.
00:58:25Well, what do you expect?
00:58:27And I got 20 grand tied up in it?
00:58:30Hello, Otero.
00:58:31How are you, baby?
00:58:32First rate.
00:58:33Sit down, Joe.
00:58:35You sure I'm good enough to sit in such a swell chair?
00:58:37Oh, come on now.
00:58:38Cut the comedy.
00:58:39Sit down.
00:58:44Screw Otero.
00:58:45I want to talk to Joe Private.
00:58:47Sure.
00:58:48See you later, Joe.
00:58:51Cigar, Joe?
00:58:52No, thanks.
00:58:55Well, will you have a cocktail or a dash of brandy?
00:58:58No.
00:59:00Well, surprise you to hear from me?
00:59:03Kinda.
00:59:05I thought it'd be kinda nice to have a little talk together.
00:59:08Like old times.
00:59:10Certainly is nice to see you, Rico.
00:59:12Especially like this.
00:59:14You're looking good.
00:59:16Yeah, you're looking good, too, Joe.
00:59:18Living easy, kinda, huh?
00:59:20Not that easy.
00:59:21Dancing's no stench.
00:59:22Yeah, but you ain't complaining.
00:59:24No.
00:59:27No, I ain't complaining.
00:59:28That's good.
00:59:31Yeah.
00:59:33Dancing's all right for a sideline.
00:59:35It gives you a swell front.
00:59:37But it ain't my idea of a man's game.
00:59:40What's the difference, Rico?
00:59:43As long as I ain't kicking, why should you kick?
00:59:45Who's kicking?
00:59:46Well, why should a young guy like you be wasting his time?
00:59:53And I kinda took pride in you, Joe.
00:59:58Brought you into the gang, pushed your head.
01:00:00But now you're getting to be a sissy.
01:00:03We gotta go into that again.
01:00:04Can't you just forget about me?
01:00:05No, I don't wanna forget, Joe.
01:00:06You're my pal.
01:00:07We started off together, didn't we?
01:00:09Well, we gotta keep going along together.
01:00:12Who else have I gotta give a hang about?
01:00:14I need you, Joe.
01:00:16I got the biggest chance of my life.
01:00:18The big boy just handed me the whole north side.
01:00:21But it's too much for one man to handle alone.
01:00:22I need somebody.
01:00:23Somebody to work in with me.
01:00:24A guy like you.
01:00:25Somebody I can trust.
01:00:26Can't be me, Rico.
01:00:27I've quit.
01:00:32You didn't quit.
01:00:34Nobody ever quit me.
01:00:36You're still in my gang.
01:00:37Do you get that?
01:00:38I don't care how many fancy skirts you got hanging onto you.
01:00:40That Jane of yours can go hang.
01:00:41It's her that's made a softy out of you.
01:00:43You lay off, Olga, Rico.
01:00:44I ain't laying off her.
01:00:45I'm after her.
01:00:46One of us has gotta lose and it ain't gonna be me.
01:00:48There's ways of stopping that game.
01:00:50You're crazy.
01:00:51Leave her out of this.
01:00:52She's through.
01:00:53She's out of the way.
01:00:54That's what she is.
01:00:55You're lying.
01:00:56I'll show you.
01:00:57Rico, listen.
01:00:58I love her.
01:00:59We're in love with one another.
01:01:00Don't that mean nothing to you?
01:01:01Nothing.
01:01:02Less than nothing.
01:01:03Love.
01:01:04Soft stuff.
01:01:05When she's got you, it ain't no good for anything.
01:01:08We ain't out of this yet.
01:01:10And we don't want no softies spilling things.
01:01:12I ain't gonna spill anything if that's what you're scared of.
01:01:15You think I want my next stretch?
01:01:16Well, you know too much.
01:01:17I ain't gonna take any chances.
01:01:19You're hanging around with me, see?

01:02:41Do you hear what I said? Hurry, hurry!
01:02:43Yes, Joe.
01:02:43Oh, you're ill.

01:02:49He, Rico.
01:02:51He said you and me got to quit.

01:02:54I ran away.
01:02:55Let's see. We've got to get out of here.
01:02:56Anywhere, anyplace.
01:02:57Out of town as long as we get away.

01:03:32Clarity.
01:03:33You're crazy.

01:04:55Wait, Olga.
01:04:57Joe!
01:04:58There he is, the dirty yellow double crosser.

01:06:32Well, I'll talk.
01:06:33It was Rico's gang that held up the bronze peacock.
01:06:36It was Rico who shot McClure.
01:06:37That dirty, low-sneaking.
01:06:39Well, Joe, you ask him.
01:06:40He knows it was Rico.
01:06:41He knows it was Rico.
01:06:42Is that right, Joe?

01:07:25The cops are sure to be cruising around this street.
01:07:26Oh, you should have plugged Joe.
01:07:28Yeah, I should have plugged him in the day and two.
01:07:30Anything squeal about McClure yet?
01:07:31They'll sure do it now.
01:07:32Yeah.
01:07:33From now on, we're hot.

01:08:25Now they're after him.
01:08:26They got Otero.

01:09:09Take him down to the car.
01:09:14You better give up Sam.
01:09:16Drop that gun before we start shooting.
01:09:25Come on in.
01:09:27Get on your feet and put your hands up.
01:09:33Put the cuffs on him.
01:09:38You ain't got nothing on me.
01:09:40Nothing but the bracelet.
01:09:43And we haven't got a thing on Rico either.
01:09:47He's next.
01:09:57There's nobody in there.
01:09:58No.
01:09:59Well, listen, Mark.
01:10:00If you see Rico, you better let us know.
01:10:02Quick.
01:10:03Wait.
01:10:33Well, got yourself in a nice fix.
01:10:41Yeah.
01:10:42Coffee just here.
01:10:44I got Otero.
01:10:46Well, I'm gonna stay here a day or two, and then I want a car.
01:10:51Gonna cost you big, cause I'm taking big chances.
01:10:55All right, I got 10 grand planted here. Help yourself.
01:10:58When you're ready to start, I'll give you $150.
01:11:01You'll give me?
01:11:03Say, whose money is this anyway? Who do you think you're talking to?
01:11:06I need plenty.
01:11:07Most of my money's hidden in the apartment, and I can't get to it.
01:11:10I'll give you $150. Take it or leave it.
01:11:13Why, you dirty thieving old hangout.
01:11:16No, you won't, cause I'm the only one who'll say the money's here.
01:11:21Kill me, and you won't get a cent.
01:11:27I'll give you $150.
01:11:30If you'll be a good boy.
01:11:32If you'll be a good boy.
01:12:00That's enough to go.
01:12:01I'll give you a good boy, and you'll have a good boy, and I'll give you a try.
01:12:05Leave a good boy.
01:12:06Just give me a good boy, a good boy.
01:12:08If you've always had a great trust, I've had a good boy.
01:12:10I've had a good boy.
01:12:11I've had a good boy.
01:12:12I know I have to have good boy.
01:12:13It's more to have a good boy.
01:12:14It's more to have a bad boy.
01:12:16What does it say in the paper?
01:12:20Former gang chief faints on scaffold.
01:12:25After a futile battle in the courts,
01:12:28Sam Batore, former gang leader,
01:12:31today presented a pitiful figure
01:12:34as the hangman's noose was placed around his neck.
01:12:41Listen.
01:12:42Little Caesar has never been found.
01:12:45According to the statement of Lieutenant Thomas Flaherty
01:12:49of the Homicide Squad,
01:12:51Little Caesar, the once swaggering braggart of the underworld,
01:12:55wilted in the face of real danger
01:12:57and showed the world his cowardice.
01:13:01Flaherty stated further that Little Caesar
01:13:04has contradicted his off-repeated boast
01:13:06that he could dish it out and take it, too.
01:13:10When a real crisis arose,
01:13:12Rico couldn't take it.
01:13:16Flaherty ended his interview by remarking,
01:13:18Meteoric as was Rico's rise from the gutter,
01:13:24it was inevitable that he should return there.
01:13:27Well, just the same, he was the real leader of that gang.
01:13:33Don't you believe it.
01:13:35Rico didn't have the nerve,
01:13:37and he didn't have the brains.
01:13:39He was yellow, just like Flaherty said.
01:13:41Huh?
01:13:44That's what Rico...
01:13:45Here, give me a last paper.
01:13:46Here, watch it.
01:13:54What's the matter with you?
01:13:55I picked it crazy.
01:14:02There.
01:14:11There's no way to get out.
01:14:13There.
01:14:14Trying to put that kind of stuff up on me in the papers, huh?
01:14:17I'll show them where they get out.
01:14:19Hello?
01:14:20Hello, listen, I want Park 1000.
01:14:22Yeah.
01:14:23Well, I can't take it no more, huh?
01:14:25I'll tell that guy where they...
01:14:27Hello?
01:14:28Park 1000?
01:14:29Give me Flaherty and get him quick.
01:14:30Sure.
01:14:31Just a minute.
01:14:33Tom.
01:14:34Oh, Tom.
01:14:36I may be screwy, but this sounds like Rico.
01:14:38Yeah?
01:14:39Yeah?
01:14:43Flaherty speaking.
01:14:44Yeah, this is Rico speaking.
01:14:47Rico!
01:14:48R-I-C-O, Rico.
01:14:49Little Caesar, that's who.
01:14:51Hey, you're a big guy, now.
01:14:52Ain't you shooting your mouth off in the papers?
01:14:54So I ran out when it got hot, huh?
01:14:56You think I can't take it no more?
01:14:58Well, listen, you crummy, flat-footed copper.
01:15:00I'll show you whether I lost my nerve and my brains.
01:15:02Thanks, Rico, old boy.
01:15:03The same to you and many of them.
01:15:05Come on, tell me some more.
01:15:07The sound of your voice does my heart good.
01:15:10Trace that call.
01:15:11Find out where he's phoning from quick.
01:15:13Uh-huh.
01:15:15Say, why didn't you come to Sam's next stretching party, Rico?
01:15:18It was a big success.
01:15:21Hmm.
01:15:22Funny guy, ain't you, Flaherty?
01:15:24Well, you ain't got much longer to laugh.
01:15:26I'm coming after you, see, and I'm gonna put one in your dirty hide
01:15:29for every lying crack that you made about me in the papers, eh?
01:15:32I'm gonna show you who's gonna finish up in the gutter.
01:15:34I'll show you.
01:15:35We've missed you, Rico.
01:15:37The town has been nice and quiet.
01:15:39I'm putting on weight.
01:15:42River, 6547.
01:15:43It's a flop house down at 4th and Commercial.
01:15:46All right, all right, big mouth.
01:15:48Funny better get your hat and start running, see,
01:15:50cause you're all through.
01:15:51Call up the papers and tell them that, you rotten, dirty lying copper.
01:15:54Hmm.
01:15:56I knew we'd hear from that guy if I kept giving it to him in the papers.
01:16:00The conceit of that guy.
01:16:01Yeah, they'll have to build him a special noose
01:16:03to get that swell head of his through.
01:16:05Oh-ho.
01:16:09Well, wish me love.
01:16:26There he is.
01:16:31That's Rico.
01:16:39All right, pull in there, man.
01:16:40There he is. That's Rico. All right, pull it in there, Rick.
01:16:54You better give up, Rico. You haven't got a chance.
01:16:56If you want me, you'll have to come and get me.
01:16:58You better be a nice boy, Rico, and come out.
01:17:01You heard me. If you want me, you'll have to come and get me.
01:17:03I'll be with you in a minute.
01:17:05Give me that chopper.
01:17:11This is your last chance, Rico.
01:17:14Are you coming out or do you want to be carried out?
01:17:17Well, Rico, it looks like you and I are going to take that little ride together.
01:17:23No.
01:17:24No, we ain't.
01:17:26I told you no buzzard like you will ever put any cuffs on me.
01:17:31No.

01:17:33No, we ain't.
01:17:34I told you no buzzard like you will ever put any cuffs on me.
01:17:35You should have come out when I told you to, Rico.
01:17:37Ah.
01:17:38Mother of mercy.
01:17:39Is this the end of Rico?
01:17:40Is this the end of Rico?
01:17:42No.
01:17:43No.
01:17:44No.
01:17:45No, we ain't.
01:17:46I told you no buzzard like you will ever put any cuffs on me.
01:17:52You should have come out when I told you to, Rico.
01:17:56The end of Rico is like a long, fast gal.
01:17:57Mother of mercy.
01:17:59Mother, a-marasive.
01:18:00Ah.
01:18:01Mother of mercy.
01:18:02Are you my favorite?
01:18:03What a-url?
01:18:05Is this the end of Rico?
01:18:06No?
01:18:07You should have come out.
01:18:09Just cannulized my money,
01:18:10I told you.
01:18:12Note how many people!
01:18:14But think you honestly believe me.
01:18:18And so.
