00:00Trump created this political distraction to divide us and keep our focus away from his
00:20policies. And this isn't leadership. It's a deliberate attempt by Trump to incite unrest,
00:26test the limits of executive power, and distract from the lawlessness of his
00:32administration. But let me be clear, anyone who acts violently, attacks a law
00:39enforcement officer, or anyone should be held accountable. Full stop. What's
00:46happening in Los Angeles is that most people are peacefully exercising their
00:50rights, like my friend and union leader David Huerta, who was tased, injured, and
00:55arrested? That day, he didn't do it. He forgave those people. Now his people want
01:02to raise money for them. And yet, and yet, in a contra-constitutional way, he has sent the
01:12National Guard into California. Something is very wrong with this picture. Inconsistent in
01:20his actions, contrary to his own statement that he couldn't, of a year ago, that he
01:27couldn't send anyone in without the governor's consent, any place, and in
01:34violation of the Constitution. Thank you again. So adding on to it, the arresting
01:40of a member of Congress, threatening to arrest an individual is all part of a pattern of a
01:50president that is outside the bounds of the law. You know, when it comes to the
01:56elected officials, when it comes to attacking the courts, trying to impeach judges,
02:01ignoring court orders, sending in the military, nationalizing, or federalizing the National
02:12Guard, that is the dark path that we are talking about. That is the path we are on, where he
02:20will end up in a place where he ends up calling martial law, unless the American people see that
02:28what's going on in California is an excuse to test the bounds of his authority or break
02:39those bounds completely.
02:45This is a direct attack on civil rights, due process, and our democratic norms targeting
02:53black and communities of color. This president has crossed the line, and we must all understand
03:02what that means. We still don't know the full consequences of this unprecedented authoritarian
03:08overreach. But let me be clear. Congressional Democrats stand in full solidarity with the
03:15residents of Los Angeles, with our immigrant sisters and brothers, and with the peaceful protesters
03:22who dare to speak out, and who will support every effort to oppose this president's abuse of power.
03:30We will comply with our constitutional duties of oversight, and we will continue to visit
03:36these ICE facilities until we get to the bottom of this. Thank you, and I yield to Congress.
03:44When the protests right here at the United States Capitol were happening, when there was more violence
03:51than we had ever seen on the first and second day of the protests in L.A., this exact president,
03:57when we were begging him to send in the National Guard, when there was already violence and
04:02vandalism right here, he refused to do so. So now he's going to turn the argument around and say
04:08it's about public safety? Uh-uh. You can't be a hypocrite like that.
04:12The Mexican president is entitled to her opinion. Our president wants to rename the Gulf of Mexico to
04:19the Gulf of America. How about that? Is that hemispheric interference? He has opinions about
04:27practically every country in the world. Not all the time the best opinions. He's called countries' names
04:35names that I will not pronounce in this in this audience. So he has his own opinion.
04:41She's entitled to hers.
04:42It must be equivalent to a play to you.
04:48Yes, yes, you did do it.
