At a press briefing on Monday, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was asked about Elon Musk and his relationship with President Trump.
Transcript
00:00So, Elon Musk has gone on his social media network and appears to be endorsing the Trump administration's response,
00:09also deleting many of the posts from over the weekend, including the claim that Trump is named in the Epstein files.
00:15Do you think that we could be looking at greater influence again from Musk over the Trump administration,
00:22something that would warrant congressional scrutiny?
00:25Yeah, it's not clear to me.
00:26At the end of the day, our view of the whole sordid affair between Trump and Musk is that we're going to keep the focus on the disgusting abomination that is the GOP tax scam,
00:39the largest cut to health care in American history.
00:44Republicans are targeting the health care of the American people.
00:49More than 15 million Americans will lose their health care as a result of the GOP tax scam.
00:54Hospitals will close.
00:55Nursing homes will shut down.
00:57Tens of millions of Americans will pay increased premiums, co-pays, and deductibles.
01:03And people will die.
01:06That's a result of the one big ugly bill.
01:10That's disgusting that this is the Republican agenda.
01:14At the same period of time, they want to enact the largest cut to supplemental nutritional assistance in American history.
01:23Literally, these extremists are trying to rip food out of the mouths of children, veterans, and seniors in the United States of America.
01:32That's a disgusting abomination.
01:35And they're doing all of this to reward their billionaire donors?
01:38We never said at any point that we were going to let our foot off the gas pedal as it relates to the so-called Doge effort to destroy the American way of life,
01:53to target thousands of veterans who have been fired, to take a chainsaw to Social Security.
02:00We disagree with all of that.
02:02Our goal is to take a chainsaw to Project 2025.
02:07And we're not going to rest until that gets done, no matter who is standing on the side of the Trump administration.
