00:04went into effect immediately after midnight Monday. With the ban in place for Afghanistan,
00:09Burma, Shad, Congo, Quattro, Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen,
00:16the Trump administration hopes to restrict immigration. The ban does not apply to football
00:21players qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, which the United States co-hosts, nor for
00:26athletes participating in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The United Nations human rights chief
00:31Volker Turk warned that the breadth of the new travel ban raises concerns from the perspective
00:36of international law. Democratic lawmakers also called the veto an unconstitutional measure.
