New Elected Davy Russell is welcomed to the Scottish Parliament by Scottish Labour Leader Anas Sarwar and other Labour MSPs, ahead of him being sworn in this afternoon

00:00Hi, I'm Rachel Emery, the Scotsman's political correspondent. I'm here in Holyrood today
00:03where the new Labour MSP for Hamilton, Lark Hall and Stonehouse, David Russell, is due to be sworn in.
00:09We've just seen him being presented to the media by Anna Sarwar, the party leader.
00:14All of the Labour MSPs came out to greet him, wearing red roses as well and a big round of applause for him.
00:19He's just got up to the waiting room now where he's going to be officially sworn in as the new MSP.
00:22I'm honoured and humbled to have been chosen by the people of Hamilton, Lark Hall and Stonehouse
00:28to represent them in the Scottish Parliament. I'm here to pray for them, I've listened to them for weeks
00:36and now I'm going to take their case forward so that it's a springboard for Scottish Labour
00:43to take the reins and be in charge of the Scottish Government come next May.
