00:00Under the lights, here on this Easter Sunday, in Bahrain.
00:06The noise and the revs rise and rise.
00:10It's lights out and away we go and Bottas does get a good start
00:13as does Sebastian Fedelsman and Lance Stroll battling away with Jolie and Palmer in the background.
00:18Bottas will lead them into turn one. Has Fedelsman gone ahead of Lewis Hamilton?
00:21Yes, he has. The two rebels get very close together as well.
00:24On the inside, Max Verstappen's making up an awful lot of the places
00:28and he's got ahead of his teammate Daniel Ricciardo in his voucher.
00:31What happened to Kevin Magnussen?
00:33Coming down towards turn eight.
00:35Obviously technical and he gets it a long way.
00:40There's a lot of gravel there. Long way out of the way but he didn't turn left.
00:43Pit stop. But what happened here to Max Verstappen?
00:48He just locked his right front.
00:54Does that look like a brake failure to you, Martin?
00:56The brakes failed.
01:01To get out because of the rebel coming into the pits.
01:04Hamilton has suffered here and he's lost a place.
01:06Lance Stroll obviously haven't seen that.
01:08Carlo was upside down here.
01:11Who was that?
01:13Kamiashi.
01:13Who was upside down there?
01:16Gutierrez.
01:16Gutierrez and Maldonado had their incident there.
01:20Not quite as dramatic but, oh dear, oh dear, Lance Stroll.
01:24That's an absolute disaster for him and it doesn't look like his fault.
01:28He's taking the racing line but, of course, the pits, the pit exit,
01:34filters straight into the apex of turn one.
01:42Hey, it's me.
01:44The deciding factor this afternoon.
01:46Long way to go, yeah.
01:52Thanks for 29 for the race leader.
01:54You're not going to overheat.
01:55You're not going to lose any more time.
01:57You can only pit when your teammates cleared the box.
01:59Yeah.
02:00So, it's not like you're gaining anything by, well, you know,
02:04I guess Hamilton thought he would make sure he kept Ricciardo behind him
02:08in a pit stop, which is exactly why that rule is in place.
02:12Because you cannot.
02:13Talking of Ricciardo, there he goes.
02:14On Felipe Massa from a long way back, Martin.
02:17Massa has been overtaken at turn one by Raikkonen and Ricciardo.
02:24We'll try and fight back.
02:26We'll try and fight back.
02:56But, um, I'm surprised they're not even considering keeping Lewis out.
03:09Yeah, but if he can't make it, Ted, and he pits late,
03:11like I was just talking about, I mean, it's a long way to go.
03:13We've all agreed that anyway, but he can't make it.
03:16He has to pit towards the end because he just runs out of tyres.
03:19He could end up losing three or four places, couldn't he,
03:21in a second, not even be on the podium.
03:23See, it's silly us speculating about a one-stop,
03:25because Mercedes will know precisely their tyre degradation figures, won't they?
03:30And they will know that they're quite hard on tyres,
03:32and they will know with fairly good certainty that a one-stop probably wouldn't work.
03:37I don't think it is going to work, looking at the tyres.
03:40Valtteri Bottas passed, you can see now.
03:43The race leader, who will have a five-second stop before they work on his tyres and get them changed,
03:50now comes in.
03:51So the gap was ten seconds between himself and Sebastian Vendel.
03:55Five seconds of that is wiped off as they stop now.
03:59And this must feel like five years if you're in the cockpit.
04:02Shaking his head Lewis Hamilton there before they get going.
04:05Wow, the brake dust and carbon,
04:07and coming off the front wheels as they change the tyres,
04:09and now it can get going again.
04:10I bet they had all new batteries in their stopwatches on the Mercedes pitwall,
04:13remember last year, and the stopwatches didn't work.
04:16But, yep, that time they stopped certainly a little bit less than they had before.
04:22Back out into the race then, Lewis Hamilton, who was in the pits for 30 seconds.
04:27He's out, though, ahead of Kimi Räikkönen.
04:30So he's currently running third, behind his team-mates.
04:33Tim Vendel, the current four-time world champion,
04:35is going to win that jewel in the desert
04:37and take the Bahrain Grand Prix
04:39and stretch out his gap once again at the top of the Drivers' Championship
04:43to seven points.
04:45Hamilton comes home for second place for Mercedes
04:48and beating into second place, his team-mate Valtteri Bottas,
04:52who started on the pole position
04:54and comes home to fill the final podium spot.
04:58Not by much from Kimi Räikkönen.
05:00Only two seconds between the two fins.
05:03Räikkönen just misses out on the top three once again.
05:06Red Bull have to settle for fifth place with Daniel Ricciardo.
05:10His team-mate Max Verstappen retiring with brake failure.
05:13A long, long time ago, the fireworks light the night sky.
05:18The predominant color is red.
05:20And the winning color here in Bahrain tonight
05:23is very much red as well.
05:24P1, Sebastian, P1.
05:30What a race!
05:31You were the quickest!
05:33You were the quickest!
