00:00But what do you expect tonight in Sunrise?
00:02Can you believe how well Brad Marchand is playing?
00:06This is unbelievable stuff from him.
00:10A player that they admitted, like they now admitted, Scott, openly,
00:15that not everybody was happy about him coming to the team, right?
00:20Like he's legitimately hated, right?
00:22And the Bruins and Panthers played a lot in the playoffs over the years,
00:25and they really, really didn't like him.
00:28And a lot of guys were like, what?
00:30We just traded for him, really?
00:33And, well, they're glad that he's there now, aren't they?
00:36I mean, he just does everything.
00:38And now he's added an offensive touch to his game that he never really had before,
00:42which is crazy, Scott.
00:43It's almost like a basketball player that suddenly added a three to his arsenal
00:47late in his career.
00:48You know, like he wasn't an offensive player before, Scott.
00:51He was just sort of a pain in the ass to play against, grinder.
00:54You know, he'd score 20 goals, but he's full out skilled right now.
00:57So it's your boy, Sidney Crosby, that made him good, actually.
01:00Like, Marchant was in the league, guys, forever.
01:02And, like, you know, he wasn't respected, really.
01:05Right?
01:05Like, you know, he licked somebody.
01:07There was, you know, spitting, licking, biting, just sort of the –
01:11you know what I mean, Scott?
01:12People didn't like him.
01:13They were like, dude, like, you're just a jerk.
01:15Like, yeah, you're a good player, but you're a jerk.
01:17No one likes you.
01:18Unless he's on your team.
01:19He wasn't on Team Canada before because he wasn't good enough.
01:23Right?
01:23And he's from the same part of – he's from the same area as Sidney Crosby is
01:28in Nova Scotia.
01:29It's a small little province to begin with, and, you know,
01:31they all know each other a bit, right?
01:33Except they weren't buddies.
01:35And they were – it was like he wanted to play for Team Canada,
01:39Brad Marchant.
01:39And he actually called Crosby, and he goes, listen,
01:42I know we're not friends, but I want to get better.
01:47I want to be like – I want to take my game to the next level,
01:50and I know you can help me do this.
01:53Can I work out with you this summer?
01:55Because Crosby has these famous workouts with him and his boys,
01:58Nate McKinnon and a couple other guys come, and it's relentless.
02:02Like, they're in the woods, like, chopping wood and running up.
02:05You know what I mean?
02:06Like, old school, crazy stuff.
02:07Right.
02:08And they go hard.
02:09Like, Crosby doesn't drink, right?
02:10Like your boy Ivan Drago.
02:12Yeah, like – and Crosby tells everyone, if you're going to commit to this,
02:16you don't have facet.
02:18Like, this is real.
02:19And Brad was like, I want in.
02:21I want in on this.
02:22And then they started skating together because they'd go to the rink
02:25after the workouts.
02:26They started skating together.
02:28Next thing you know, Brad's got this offensive touch to his game.
02:31And it sounds cliche, Scott, to say this because you hear this often
02:33in sports.
02:34This guy's making himself a lot of money right now.
02:37Or this guy's costing himself a lot of money right now.
02:40And a lot of the times, it's not true.
02:41Look at Sam Darnold.
02:42Sam Darnold played terrible in the last two games of the last year.
02:44Still got a $40 million contract this year.
02:46Right.
02:47$50 million.
02:48So, it didn't really matter.
02:49But Brad Marchant's a free agent, guys.
02:51He only makes $6 million a year right now.
02:54I mean, the guy's playing like a $12 million a year player.
02:56Now, he's not going to get 12, but he is a free agent,
02:58and he could not pick the better time to be taken over
03:02to Stanley Cup Finals, Scott.
03:04So, I'm just throwing it out there.
03:05He's going to get a nice little raise.
03:07You think he's going to stay in Florida?
03:10He's indicated, allegedly, that he's thinking about it.
03:13Stay in there.
03:15Well, he said that, no, he basically said,
03:18we're not, let's talk about this after.
03:22I'm worried about the cup.
03:23Right?
03:23But he's, Scott, any time the player's a free agent,
03:26they want to become a free agent.
03:28Right?
03:28It's about, this is his chance to make as much money
03:30as he possibly can.
03:31I don't think the Panthers are going to be able to match
03:34what teams come at him with.
03:35I think the Maple Leafs are going to offer him like $10 million
03:37a year or something.
03:39But this is where we get into the tax stuff, right?
03:41If the Leafs offer you 10 and the Panthers offer you 7,
03:46you know what I mean?
03:47You're still making more with the Panthers.
03:48That's where the advantage comes in, guys,
03:50where it's hard for these other teams.
03:51He can be like, yeah, you're offering me 10,
03:53but if they offer me 7-5 with the taxes,
03:56I'll actually make more to stay at 7-5.
03:57And they win cups.
03:59And they win.
03:59Unlike the Leafs.
04:01The question is, Scott, I'm trying to look at this right now,
04:03get the odds up.
04:04Does the game go to overtime again tonight?
04:06I said yes.
04:08Why not, right?
04:09I almost feel that it will.
04:11Yeah, plus 3-3, that's what I'm looking here for the number here.
04:15At this point, I'm going to play it.
04:17I'm going to play it.
04:17I jumped in the other night, Scott.
04:19It was like the second period, and I was on the air,
04:21and I said, guys, this thing's going to overtime again.
04:24And we got like plus 240 in game.
04:26So I'll pull the trigger pregame.
04:27I will take the Oilers tonight, Scott,
04:29but I'll take the game to go to overtime as well again.
