00:00Forget what the weathermen and the meteorologists say, summer doesn't truly start until we've got a brand new season of Love Island.
00:07Fortunately, ITV have pulled out the almanac, they've run the numbers and they've decided that June the 9th, 2025 is the day that summer starts in the UK.
00:18So, go and grab your sunscreen, fill up your one litre bottle of water and prepare for another summer of twists, turns, break-up, recouplings, the whole lot.
00:29Because Love Island is back.
00:31And I'm TV and tech writer Matt Monahickson and this is all you need to know.
00:35So, ITV has been celebrating 10 years of Love Island this summer, which is kind of hard to believe the rebooted version of the show that we all know and love now started back in 2015 after there was a brief celebrity show in the 2000s, but they rebranded and relaunched in 2015.
00:53And it's been a staple ever since, except for, you know, when there was COVID times and all the funkiness around that.
01:02But they're promising more twists and more drama than ever for the big birthday.
01:08CEO of Love, Maya Jammer, is back on hosting duties and Ian Sterling will be doing the voiceover as usual.
01:15It's the love island that you know and love, but maybe a bit bigger, maybe a bit bolder, maybe a bit more dramatic than ever.
01:22You know, you've got to go big for a big birthday, right?
01:25And so the series, as mentioned, starts on Monday, June the 9th.
01:33Episodes will air at 9pm on ITV2 nightly throughout the summer.
01:38Six nights a week, there's a new episode and then Saturday nights are saved for Unseen Bits, which is like a look back at some of the scenes that you didn't see in the previous week.
01:48But it's not super essential episodes, so you get one night a week off.
01:54And the previous summers, last few years, have had about 58 episodes each and run from June until late July, maybe even a bit into August.
02:04So, yeah, you've got plenty of Love Island to look forward to.
02:07It's not short like Love Island All Stars, which took place in the winter, which is a bit of a more condensed version of Love Island.
02:14This is a full-fat summer version of Love Island.
02:19Expect plenty of bombshells, CASA, you know, go to the different CASAs, everything.
02:25You know, all the stuff that you know and love from Love Island.
02:28The 12 Singletons are arriving for the live launch on June the 9th, but there's already one bombshell lined up for the first day and there'll be plenty more over the coming weeks.
02:40In recent years, there's been at least 30, if not more, contestants every year.
02:46So, don't worry.
02:48If you don't like the first 12, there's going to be plenty more.
02:50You'll find people to fall in love with and they'll find people to fall in love with as well.
02:55So, yeah, it's Love Island.
02:56It'll be on every single night at 9pm on ITV2 and also on ITVX.
03:02It'll be live on there and you can watch it on demand.
03:05And there'll also be Love Island Morning After podcast that's going to be on YouTube for you to watch if you want to, yeah, relive the events of the night before all the twists and turns.
03:17Especially on big dramatic nights, I think you'll want to see that.
03:22As mentioned, it's on six nights a week with unseen bits on Saturday nights.
03:27And, yeah, it's going to be stretched out throughout the summer.
03:29So, don't worry.
03:30There's plenty of Love Island waiting for you over the coming weeks.
03:34Enjoy!
