00:00Unsurprisingly, I should say, the fan base's reaction to Martin's appointment seemed majority somewhat divided, I guess.
00:11But it'll be interesting, won't it? You touched on the recruitment.
00:15It sounds like he and new sporting director Kevin Fellwell have certainly been cracking on in terms of identifying targets.
00:22Of course, this managerial search went on for 100 days. Then it was a rigorous process.
00:29That's something that Patrick Stewart certainly elaborated on in the press conference last week.
00:36But already been a few names linked with Rangers and some players that Martin has previously worked for.
00:44What can you tell us there?
00:45Yeah, well, the recent reporting is that Flynn Downs of Southampton is one that's being looked at.
00:53Harry Toffolo, who's expected to leave Nottingham Forest.
00:56There's a striker from Basel.
00:59There is a couple of other names.
01:01I think because the 49ers have come in, teams and more probably pressingly agents know Rangers are going to have a bit of money to chuck about this summer.
01:11But it's maybe no surprise that, as we're going to speak about, there's all sorts of names being linked to Rangers and there's not a whole lot of activity when it comes to Celtic, even when it comes to links and stuff.
01:21So I'm not necessarily surprised there's lots of players being linked.
01:24I would say if you're a Rangers fan and you're thinking the 49ers enterprises are here, we're going to speak big this summer and you're linked to a guy who's played seven times for Nottingham Forest as a bit park player.
01:35At the age of 29, you're maybe a bit underwhelmed.
01:38That's nothing against Harry Toffolo, but I just think Rangers fans are going to demand a calibre of player that's perhaps, maybe not even slightly, how do I say, they're also looking for a calibre of player that's slightly better.
01:49But that doesn't necessarily mean they cost ÂŁ10 million, which has been the quoted fee for Flynn Downs.
01:55You look at the Israeli striker that's been looked at, Dor Terjaman, has scored quite regularly for Maccabi Tel Aviv and a fee of ÂŁ4 million has been quoted.
02:06I think that's the type of signing Rangers fans will want to see this sort of first step towards signing a guy, like Hamz Agamon really, signing them for low and then trying to get them for a year or two and then see where you can go from there in terms of selling them on in a couple of years' time.
02:22So I don't think the links are, and I think Harry Dowling's the other one as well, that's probably the other one he mentioned.
02:27So Connor Cody as well. So there's all sorts of names here that are being floated around, some with links to Thelwell, some with links to Martin, some that have clearly been in the scouting system at Rangers for quite some time, if they are all to be believed.
02:41So, yeah, as I said, I think the recruitment needs to be right and the need to be adapted to Russell Martin's playing style.
02:47Otherwise, we're going to run into some issues pretty quickly in this tenure, I would imagine.
02:51Yeah. In terms of potential outgoings, Ben, obviously, there's been reports in recent days that Robin Proper is set for a return back to the Netherlands.
03:00Of course, they parted ways of Leon Balligan at the end of the season.
03:05In recent days, we've had reports that Rossmouth-Cosland is attracting interest and Mohamed Diomandi, Everton, the latest club, reportedly interested in him.
03:16Areas of the pitch that you feel Rangers need to address straightaway? I'd imagine centre-back in particular is going to be high on Russell Martin's radar.
03:28Yeah, I would imagine, I mean, it's probably easier to name the positions that you don't need to.
03:32I mean, you would probably imagine a goalkeeper if Jack Button's not going to be the number one, like he was at the end of the last season.
03:39He probably looks to move on if he's not going to be playing regularly, so potentially a goalkeeper, at least a couple of centre-halves.
03:47If Diomandi or Raskin or both go, they've both been linked to be linked exits, you're probably talking a couple of midfielders.
03:53Obviously, Lyle Cameron's already signed a striker.
03:57Again, can't rule out exits.
04:00I don't think for Decer's who's been constantly linked to exits in the last 12 months.
04:04Hamzegaman, another one.
04:05Danilo's not hit heights.
04:07Cerny's away, so you'd imagine a winger.
04:08So, I think it's going to be, now that you're past the shocking of a takeover and a new head coach,
04:15I think now you're going to get into a very, very busy summer where I think it'll be pretty constant in terms of players being linked.
04:22And I think by the time, he's already said Russell Martinley wants one or two in before the start of pre-season,
04:29which is in the middle of this month, then you would imagine probably one or two more by the time Champions League qualifiers roll around in late July.
04:36But I would imagine that by the time we get to the start of September and the window shuts,
04:41I think you could be seeing seven or eight, maybe more in-and-rangers and the same out-of-the-way.
04:47Because as you say, Robin Popper, Rossman Prossel, these type of guys, it's hard to see how they fit in this much.
