00:00Hamilton on the soft tyre, the two behind him on the medium tyre, it's different strategies amongst the top three

00:05and it's lights out and away we go, so Hamilton gets away well, as does Max Verstappen this week

00:11the boundary, Bottas is already ahead of him, but Danny Ricciardo slots in the ball, but it's the man on them

00:15that's made up places from the start as well, it's a long run, down to long turn two

00:19plenty of time to sort of tilt out, Bottas is going round the outside of Lewis Hamilton

00:24but he has to go wide and that's the red ball there, that goes straight on at Max Verstappen

00:28and he's not the only one, Carlos Sainz, who is involved in a first lap accident in Mugello

00:33for Carlos Sainz, then he really wants it and we have gone

00:36and we might see it again, thanks ever so much, Adam, we'll be back with you in a moment

00:52and here is the race start and we can see Valtteri Bottas, braking late, trying to go round the outside of Lewis Hamilton

00:58down the inside goes the Renault Max Verstappen, Verstappen having to take to the runoff area

01:03but then there's a lot of trouble as Sainz then goes off into the runoff area

01:07and Pignon a good enough exit

01:09you see the team of Clarence, one in front of the other Sainz in front of Lando Norris

01:15and Sainz then, he hit the wall first and that's why he goes across the track

01:19and Lando Norris has to slam on the brakes to try and get out of the way of his teammate

01:22all through practice, Johnny and I were saying that is a tighter path

01:26and the drivers expect that wall makes it extraordinarily tight

01:29what a crunch that was

01:31and yeah, Carlos will be kicking himself because he's been through that path through practice

01:37he knew exactly where the wall was

01:39but when the adrenaline is popping

01:41across the line Lewis Hamilton sets a time of a 140.0

01:46he is seven-tenths of a second quicker on that lap than his teammate Valtteri Bock

01:50walls are blistering as well

01:51Lewis Hamilton has a five second time penalty for a practice start violation

01:57we're watching Lando Norris getting past Alex Albon down the back straight

02:02Albon giving it everything that he possibly could

02:04the track then curves round to the left under braking

02:08the wind was obviously blowing in the right direction for the McLaren on that occasion

02:12good move by Lando Norris to get past his good mate Alex Albon

02:16and whilst one British driver can celebrate a partial success there

02:19confirmation a five second time he's struggling for grip

02:23is a second and a half back as well

02:25and then 2.2 seconds back to Ocon still holding his own in fourth place

02:42up into 17

02:50with a fairly easy move on the DRS and I would imagine

02:53Ricardo getting past Esteban Ocon and was that engineered or was that an overtake

02:59and did Daniel Ricardo come onto the track the wrong way

03:05I don't know about that we didn't really see a replay but we can go to hand

03:09I don't think you were watching that yeah I was guys yeah and uh he was told to let him by um

03:14he's obviously had his fair share of attempts to get past battle um and that was a clear message

03:19from the team to let him by it was pre-arranged

03:22yeah it's it's a logical thing to do but as crossy said

03:26Ricardo locked up and went behind that curve that's an interesting one probably because

03:31the rule today as was explained to me by one of the stewards was that if you got behind that orange

03:38he hit a casley very much at bay in a ferrari powered alfa romeo and the honda powered alfa tower

03:46he just just can't get close enough to it

03:49I'm just taking a look at Alex Albon who made that pit stop

03:53for the new set of mediums the last lap he did a 39.3 which is very comparable to the leader

03:58as a nearly 20 seconds quicker than the cars in front so Albon having pitted and got back to 15

04:05he's now going to start pulling off some of those bulls that he's starting to become

04:09funny for this afternoon if he can he's getting closer to the alpha tower closer and with diaris

04:14helping him along he is finally past Kimi Raikkonen ninth place then for Pierre Gassi the

04:21alfa tower he gets past the alfa romeo he's just falling off his chair they've been waiting all

04:27season for that one you wait till he has to go why they will go for the same strategy you don't want

04:32to break up a winning formula on that one and Leclerc should have won that race in a one stop

04:38if not for that safety car they caught him out they've done this is Albon he's got DRS now

04:43on Giovinazzi as they head down to us turn the Ds this could be timed he can squeeze a little bit

04:49Alex Albon towards the ball there as Giovinazzi tries to put up an offence but doesn't get squeezed

04:53enough for the red ball to stick behind that alfa romeo and Alex Albon is up another place

05:00if we can but he wants to make a statement here's the move from the outside we saw it on board

05:06Giovinazzi moved across to the same as best he could that's the red ball outing time

05:11George Russell in the Williams I should say as well here goes Alex Albon on Roman Grosjean he's got DRS

05:17with brake dust flying out of the front wheels as he slams on those brakes and for good

05:23pressure Roman Grosjean that goes off the track as well as he's overtaken and has to come back

05:29Ocon keeps asking how many laps to go as we're just watching a replay here of this easy move

05:34four out one no matches at Haston straight line for the red ball but yeah this fight is he's just

05:39been told Danny Fiat to go to mode seven whatever that is and uh he said he can go on the attack so

05:45this battle should heat up for the last couple of laps with the the driver in his home track

05:51the strong challenge on the red ball here goes Sebastian Vettel down the inside of Roman Grosjean

05:56they have to go wheel to wheel and Grosjean goes off the track and that is what they ask you

06:01to do well not completely in the race directors though while driving through them

06:06probably don't cover that finish at least he's made an attempt Sebastian Vettel of course

06:13in wide and he went uh I suppose you can see from from Romain Grosjean and what he did here

06:20this is a carbon cotton it can't be there did so it's a carbon the way Grosjean's car was

06:29is exactly where Lewis Hamilton went off in qualifying and you now see the attempt that

06:34Romain Grosjean has made they go and down towards the heavy braking zone to turn two there goes Alex

06:39Albon around the outside of Lando Boris Boris breaks that a little bit later and manages to

06:43fend off Alex Albon though is Albon compromised a bit throughout Pierre Gasly to come back in

06:48it through turn three it seems the alpha tower is just dropping back a touch as Albon still trying

06:53to make the move on Lando Norris Norris is putting that McLaren in a very nice position to make that

06:58defense of ninth place and he is watching the two cars behind him still Alex Albon is trying to make

07:05his way around and he's got to watch it a little bit there's Alex Albon because Gasly is absolutely

07:09chomping at the bit as now here goes Albon once again very rare you see a move going into turn ten but on that

07:16occasion Albon tried it to quite come off you see the light flashing on the back

07:20of Norris' car I think he's deployed a lot of energy

07:23and he defends Albon defends the inside Gasly is going to have a run on him

07:29but the CRS will drop it and Lando Norris is that much further ahead so Alex Albon

07:35after him through seven and again through eight and allowed Gasly to get that run on the back straight

07:40that's a terrific little scrap that was but the Lando points placing and we could see it

07:46once again Gasly is doing a lot of work to get back to where he wants for the start

07:50but yeah I mean in the end Albon nearly got wrong putting him Ducco McLaren will be on 106

07:57racing point 104 sorry this is the battle between Giovinazzi

08:00Karel don't worry because Giovinazzi is still ahead in 11th place from Kevin Magnussen so you're going to have

08:06McLaren 106 racing point 104 Renault 99 just seven points between those three teams

08:11meanwhile the fastest

08:13Bruchon uh a look up off the track and trying to go round about us round about us just like that

08:19that's uh that's kind of how you admit to do it

08:27meanwhile this is Antonio Giovinazzi and Kevin Magnussen

08:32what will do is to steal the wheel away from Valtteri Bottas this afternoon the only man to be on the podium

08:38in the last three Russian Grand Prix he's on the podium this afternoon and it's the top step of the podium

08:44as Valtteri Bottas wins the Russian Grand Prix he now starts to close the gap in the championship

08:51to his teammate Max Verstappen finishes second for Red Bull and another super drive from him

08:58and for Lewis Hamilton I think he's been told just to back up a bit by his team and not press the engine

09:04on that final lap he comes out to take third place it's a podium not the record equaling win that he

09:10would have hoped for when he started from pole Bottas for Stafford Hamilton for the sixth

09:14to the next race but an intriguing race not the race yeah I think you know there's going to be two very happy drivers aren't there

09:22Lewis Lewis being Lewis will walk away I'm sure in his mind thinking I would have won that race

09:31because that's just how Lewis thinks um while Bottas will go away thinking I think I could have

09:37beat him anyway I'm back to go well I got second place I'll just collect the corners check that it comes
