The Bridgnorth Arts trail combines local artists and interesting Bridgnoth houses/ locations and puts them together in a pop up Arts Trail.

00:00so we're in the old school and this house belongs to and that be you so you're kind
00:23of event organizer as well aren't you yes i am what part of a small team yeah organize the arts trail
00:30every year how long has it been going for now the arts trail oh right probably about eight years
00:36yeah um started being you know we had a few years before covid and then a break and then
00:42since then and how many different venues do you have roughly across the across the town
00:46we've got about 33 venues yeah uh well over 70 artists wow and they're generally all kind of
00:54fairly local artists as well aren't they they are that that's the idea of the of the trail
00:59yeah local artists and is it is it strange having strangers just wandering into your house or is it
01:07quite nice to show off this beautiful property it's lovely yeah we have such interesting conversations
01:12with everybody yeah about about the house and the art so was it an old school literally it was yes
01:19so how long ago was it a school roughly oh probably over 100 years ago i'm just wondering if you remains
01:24in the in the back garden yeah i'm just wondering if you ever have kind of people going in going
01:29my nan used to come to school here do you know what i mean not yet not yet no no well there's always
01:34time and um we've got one of your artists featured that's me that's me fanfare what's your name madam
01:43my name's linda kemshall so you'll seize them she's only just down the road isn't it really
01:47this is just a few miles away this is my local town cool so just grab a couple of pieces of your art
01:53then talk us through what you're kind of what you're all about then well i do watercolors so um i've got
01:58some paintings here yeah that's a magnolia stellata from my garden beautiful yeah i've got a few
02:05stitched um textiles as well so you can oh that's stitching oh nice yeah of course now you've said it
02:12oh where was that this is my first arts trail here yeah and it's the first time i've ever shown my
02:20paintings so there's quite a selection of paintings here so what so it's it just a hobby for you you do
02:27the paintings and they're kind of this has been my bread and butter for a long time yeah i've been
02:33teaching online mainly oh wow so how is it to be exhibiting then well this is fun i exhibit all over
02:41the place all over the world actually but maybe my quilts this is the first time with my paintings
02:46oh i've got you okay there are a couple of quilts here as you can see oh so this is your quilt as well
02:50that's um i'll tell you what then go on just to come over so okay so what's um what's the story
02:57with the writing then that's around it around the edge on this one this one is do you know i wasn't
03:03meant to be bringing my quilts but yeah i was told i could exhibit on top of a grand piano
03:07yeah i thought i needed to to push in it to protect the piano so i just bought one of my large quilts
03:13this one's called to the brim it's inspired by um a painting by paul clay an austrian painter
03:21yeah and his painting is called ad marginum which means to the brim so you can't see much of it
03:27because there's all of my paintings sitting on top but well we can see it's it's it's a large quilt
03:33it's quite elaborate quite complex yeah a lot of stitching so let's have a look at some of these
03:39paintings so it's very much kind of uh the paintings nature isn't it then and nature is my inspiration
03:45so it's either the birds i see in my garden or the plants and things you know the peonies and
03:51and still life great well it looks fantastic thank you for being part of the arts trail i've loved it
03:57i've really enjoyed it so thanks a lot for uh coming and um spreading the word
04:02and we're here at one of the venues bridge north library and you are i'm judith tranter i'm the chair
04:09of the bridge northern district art society how many members are in that group currently we have
04:14about 70. oh wow yes there's quite a lot of artistic people in bridge north and surroundings
04:20isn't there very talented people in bridge north as you can see from the arts trail very eclectic
04:25and we'll just oh so this is one of yours this is one of mine where's where's this then this is um
04:31overlooking the baskets islands in um ireland oh wow okay yes it's a watercolor great stuff yeah
04:38well thank you judy you've even sold you've sold a couple as well i have sold a couple today yes
04:43it's been very successful yeah yeah yeah it's been really good great great stuff well thank you
04:48for being part of the arts trail thank you very much indeed so we're outside the croft b&b and we
04:53have jeanette you're um you're of the croft it's your your baby and um artist beverly hello hello so
05:00you're a bridge north girl beverly i am a bridge north girl and i see bridge north features well in your
05:04your subject well i can't live in a place like this without painting the views exactly yeah have you
05:11got a particular spot if i had to say there's one spot you know to sit down and have a picnic is there
05:15one spot that you're loving the town i love the town park town park castle gardens yeah yeah beautiful
05:24it is isn't it in the summer when it's all in bloom and have you been a part of the trail before
05:29but um jeanette yes we've sponsored it every year for the last five years since we've owned the croft
05:35oh good on you yeah so where were you before owning the croft then um we lived in gloucestershire for 20
05:40years um had a publishing business and i worked in the charity sector oh well bit of a difference
05:47isn't it very different very different and have you had many in has it been has it gone well this
05:52weekend it's good a very good foot floor this year yeah it's always great for us having two artists
05:58because it gives that diversity yeah um and also it's a lot of local people which don't normally use
06:05a bnb um so actually really gets us on the map with a lot of locals as well great stuff well beautiful
06:12work i know what a fantastic venue thank you ladies in this wonderful garden we find artist what's your
06:18name madam debbie williams so debbie you're kind of a mixed media in the sense that you you paint
06:23yes and you um a bit of pottery pottery look at that so is this an imagined scene or do you take
06:31inspiration from the shropshire countryside how's it work oh yes as we walk around the shropshire
06:35countryside lots of inspiration yeah and how's it been for you this weekend exhibiting excellent
06:42yeah lovely setting isn't it i mean the garden you know what a fitting setting for some beautiful
06:48landscape art beautiful and lots of people who are so interested in art and ceramics
06:54so they're not shy to come in and have a natter no it's great great stuff well thank you for being
