A 38-year-old man was arrested early Saturday (June 7) morning in Tawau, Sabah, after being linked to multiple fuel thefts involving unpaid refueling at petrol stations.

00:00A man who repeatedly refueled without paying at several petrol stations in Tawau
00:08was finally caught when police arrested him behind a premises early Saturday morning.
00:14Tawau OCPD Assistant Commissioner Jasmine Hossin said the arrest, which took place around 1.45am,
00:22followed a public tip-off about a suspicious vehicle spotted in the town area.
00:26Upon investigation, officers discovered a man inside the vehicle,
00:31which was linked to an ongoing fraud case under police investigation.
00:36The suspect was immediately detained, and the vehicle he was using was seized for further examination.
00:42Further investigations revealed that the suspect had been involved in multiple incidents
00:47of fueling his vehicle without payment at various petrol stations around Tawau before fleeing each scene.
00:54ACP Jasmine said the suspect's actions not only broke the law,
00:59but also caused frustration and dissatisfaction among petrol station operators.
01:04A urine test conducted on the suspect came back negative for drug use.
01:09The case is currently being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for Cheating
01:14handled by the Commercial Crime Investigation Division.
01:17If convicted, the offender could face up to 10 years in prison, whipping, and a fine.
