00:00It's the first state visit to Monaco for a French president in 41 years.
00:05Topping the agenda, ocean protection, which Prince Albert has made a personal mission.
00:10Hosting the Blue Economy and Finance Forum earlier on Saturday,
00:14he called for more international action on the cause.
00:17This message is one of an imperative duty that we all have towards future generations,
00:23to develop the ocean economy in a sustainable way while preserving the balance of our planet.
00:30Protecting its riches and doing everything we can to perpetuate what makes our lives possible.
00:36The Forum and Macron's visit set the tone for a United Nations ocean conference
00:40kicking off Monday in neighbouring Nice.
00:43The UNOC summit, co-hosted by France and Costa Rica, is the third of its kind
00:47and will cover climate change, pollution, biodiversity
00:50and making access to marine resources more sustainable.
00:54It will be attended by dozens of heads of state,
00:57preceded by a conference bringing together some 2,000 scientists from around 100 countries.
01:03From ocean protection, raining and overfishing,
01:06to maritime transport and addressing plastic pollution,
01:09Emmanuel Macron himself is aiming for roughly 60 ratifications in Nice.
01:13UNESCO's head of marine policy says the summit's aim is to accelerate action on protecting the world's oceans.
01:19What the conference will produce is actually a political declaration,
01:23which has been negotiated in the last five months at the UN.
01:28This is not binding, but this is something we can refer to
01:33and where we can start building collaboration amongst the countries.
01:37The UNOC3 conference will take place over five days,
01:41from the 9th to the 13th of June.
