France delivers aid to Lebanon

00:00It's France's first concrete step in delivering its promise to provide foreign aid to Lebanon.

00:06Nearly 30 tons of humanitarian supplies were flown in and collected on the ground by French

00:12and Lebanese NGOs to hand out to people displaced from Israeli airstrikes.

00:17We are here for the arrival of the first humanitarian aid plane sent by France in cooperation with

00:24the EU. This time it's tents, blankets and of course sanitary kits. All this in cooperation

00:35with NGOs which are then going to deliver it all to the displaced people up in the mountains.

00:41Because we know that unfortunately bad weather is coming and we need to prepare quickly.

00:48This is the first part of the 100 million euros and 100 tons of humanitarian fright

00:54which France promised to send to Lebanon. And comes over a week after the Paris International

00:59Conference in support of Lebanon pledged to provide a total of one billion dollars in

01:05aid to the country and in support of its security forces. Other states like Egypt, Jordan and

01:11Turkey have also dispatched aid to Lebanon. This cargo, sent by Turkish NGOs, arrived

01:17in the port of Beirut on Friday. It includes food supplies, medical equipment and essential

01:23goods for displaced citizens. This is a day where we as the Turkish people

01:27showing our solidarity with the Lebanese people, not only through our governmental agencies

01:32but also through the Turkish civil society. Israel launched a massive air campaign against

01:38Hezbollah at the end of September, forcing thousands of people to flee and leaving them

01:43in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.
