00:00Tech has already tonight fought off a run rule with a three-run third inning, and they have denied Texas a couple of chances to walk it off in the bottom of the fifth and sixth.
00:16Ground ball, backhanded by Goode, over to first, and you can light up the UT Tower, burnt orange. Texas is finally bringing the championship home to Austin.
00:46On their eighth try at the World Series, Texas has a title. And on his eighth try, Mike White has a championship.
01:16And the SEC will win a title for the first time in a decade.
01:23This is a team that has battled, it's been a roller coaster of a season, but getting some of their best pitching and best hitting for the end of the season.
01:36How about the season for Nigel Kennedy even get them to this point?
01:39I know she's going to beat herself up for the five runs in that first inning, but it's really been about this Texas team and their perseverance, their response to lose yesterday, which, by the way, in these three-game series, you don't see the bounce back the way the Longhorns did.
01:55And let's go down onto the field with Holly Rope.
01:59Well, Tegan Kavon, what's it like getting that last out, your defense having your back in that moment?
02:05It means the world. I'm so happy for this team. We did it. First, Natty, let's go. My grandma, the last thing she told my brother, one of the last things was to bring home a victory. We did that for her.
02:14It's really so precious. You've had to fight through a lot of emotions this week. How did you find the best version of yourself tonight?
02:21Through my teammates. It's all of them.
02:23I know that this was a hard season for you. Late in the season, you were struggling. What changed with you and this group to get this first championship in school history?
02:32I think to just not forget who we are, not forget who we are at the end of the day. We're Texas. We're going to fight. We know who we are and we can get the job done.
02:39There's been a lot of incredible pitchers in the Texas lineage. Kat Osterman, Blair Luna, it's you that finally gets it. What does that mean to you and to them?
02:48It means the world to get it done for the university and for the state and for all my teammates and coaches, but they paved the way. So it's all started with them.
02:57Thank you so much, Tegan.
02:58Thank you. Let's go.
03:01All the runs unearned, by the way, tonight. So for this year's Capital One tournament, most outstanding player, 31 and two thirds innings without giving up unearned run in Oklahoma City.
03:17Tegan Kavan just so good in the circle, just so stellar and stoic.
03:22It wasn't always the strikeout using that defense, which at times stubbed their toe a bit, but getting it done when they needed to. And Tegan Kavan and Reese Atwood, one of the best batteries in Division One softball, winning their first national championship for the University of Texas.
03:40What I loved about Kavan is how much she adapted her game, you know, not going for the swing and miss, but understanding that she could still win games by pitching to contact.
03:48She did that here in Oklahoma City. Ultimately, it's what got her the win. And how about Mia Scott?
03:54Have yourself a career. She did that capitalize with a grand slam in this one.
04:01Jolie Mitchell, who had three home runs here at the World Series. Celebrating with Leanne Good, a three-run shot tonight for her. Everybody got in on it for the Longhorns and for Mike White, that national championship smile.
04:21Jolie Mitchell, record-setting season for Texas Tech. And a season of first will carry them into next year with Nigerian Kennedy set to return to Lubbock. But the night belongs to the Horns. They've hooked themselves a national championship trophy.
