00:00A digital replica of Auschwitz has been created for use in film.
00:07The Auschwitz Museum has been working with both documentary filmmakers and feature film directors for years.
00:14However, due to conservation and protection measures of the authentic memorial,
00:18filming at the actual site is impossible.
00:22Thus, the idea to create a digital replica was born out of the need to respond
00:27to the growing interest of directors in the history of the camp.
00:32The Picture from Auschwitz project is a joint initiative of the Auschwitz Museum,
00:37the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation, and a team of technology specialists.
00:43The concept came to life over a period of several months with contributions from each team.
00:49The technical team used the most advanced spatial scanning technologies in order to create the replica.
00:57At the moment, the foundation is trying to raise the funds needed to continue the project
01:04and create a digital replica of the grounds of Auschwitz to Birkenau,
01:08as well as the interiors of some of the buildings.
