00:03Of course, a week after they lost to Edmonton in the conference finals.

00:08Again, Dallas losing in the conference final for the third year in a row.

00:12And DeBoer's good at losing in the conference final.

00:14He's done it a lot in all of his stops.

00:17You knew, Dave, when he did that to Ottinger after the game,

00:21and then the reports started coming out, the players,

00:23and there's some veteran leadership in that locker room.

00:26They were not going to be thrilled with what he did.

00:29And especially with him only having one year left on his deal.

00:33Chopped. Finished.

00:39Things didn't end well in Dallas.

00:41Again, you get to the Western Conference finals.

00:45I mean, you saw what happened for the Knicks and Tibbs, right?

00:49He got to the Eastern Conference finals.

00:51Gone.

00:53I'm really not surprised, okay?

00:56I'm not.

00:57But today, like today, you know, game two of the Stanley Cup finals,

01:05and you announce it today.

01:06So, obviously, there were either meetings again where they just said,

01:10you know what, we're done.

01:12We're done.

01:12I love Ottinger.

01:16I really do.

01:17You just got to get over the hump.

01:18And until you get over the hump, somebody got to go, got to be the coach,

01:22is what it is.

01:24Dallas is still going to be one of the top four favorites for Stanley Cup next year.

01:29Mike, I didn't look yet.

01:30I know they're probably the top five without even looking.

01:35They always are.

01:36So, I don't know who they're going to get.

01:38But, you know, there's been coaching carousel changes.

01:41Boston just hired a coach.

01:42The Penguins just hired a coach.

01:44You know, a lot of young guys are getting coaching opportunities in the NHL.

01:48I don't know where DeBoer, if he ends up back in the league next season.

01:51Yeah, I don't know if they'll go kind of do what the Penguins did,

01:56which was the cheap route, the cheap, fresh-faced route.

02:00That's what the Penguins did.

02:02That's what the Bruins kind of did, too.

02:03Sturm never been a head coach anywhere, and he gets a job.

02:06I don't think because of how that team is built that that's a route that Dallas

02:10is going to take.

02:11You know, I think that Dallas will look at some of the maybe some flashier names

02:16that have been put out there, and we'll see.

02:19But they still have a strong team, and you're right.

02:21They will be one of the four favorites no matter what it is going into next year.
