00:00Game one Western Conference final was looking good for Edmonton. They had a 3-1 lead going into
00:05the third period. The Stars would score five times in the third. Three power play goals in
00:13the first six minutes of the third period, headlined by Matt Duchesne on the power play ESPN.
00:20Chance for Dallas to take the lead. Duchesne dropped it back. Haston had moved it quickly.
00:26Rantan and shot. Comes to Duchesne. He had a wide open goal. And they score!
00:32Yeah, listen. I didn't see the penalties. I just said to Gabe earlier, like, I mean,
00:39what's happening here? They give them three straight power plays? Like, usually you see
00:44one and then, you know, two. Okay. Then they give the other team one. I mean, and you know that's
00:50true, Mike. They don't just hand out three straight power plays. I mean, they were just
00:55like, it was like they were force feeding them power plays. And they scored three of them. And
01:01I didn't see them, so it's not fair for me to judge. I just don't normally see that. Where
01:06they just give a team three power plays in a row. And in that short of a span, he scored
01:12three goals in five minutes. And the game was over. I mean, the game was over. The refs
01:17handed them the game last night. They said, here, we want you to win. So we're going to
01:22give you all these power plays. And the difference was that they converted. They scored on them.
01:25It's one thing to get them. It's another thing to score.
01:29It is another thing to score. And look, a couple of them were high sticking calls.
01:34You know, it was, you know, it's tough. You know, the stick gets the guy, gets the guy
01:38up high. They call him. But three straight penalties resulted in three straight goals.
01:43And no, you don't normally see. It was three to one. And then the game
01:47was over. It was like, yeah. See ya.
01:50See ya after that. Here is Stars head coach Peter DeBoer on the
01:54comeback win. You know what? I didn't think the entire night
01:58was poor, poor, five on five. I thought we started
02:02the game okay. We had some good looks in the first period.
02:06You know, they got the first goal. They got the power play
02:11goal, too. You know, all of a sudden you're in a hole.
02:15So, but, you know, I think as a group, when we sit and look at it, and we'll
02:20look at it tomorrow, you know, I think our group knows that we can play
02:24better than we did for large portions of tonight.
02:29Yeah, I don't think they can play better than six goals against this team.
02:32So, I thought that when, you know, when you're shorthanded the whole night in
02:36the third period for 20 minutes, I think that you're going to lose against a
02:42really good team. The Stars are a really good team that has lost two straight
02:47Western finals, right? This is their third straight Western final.
02:50So, they're down three-one. They scored five goals in the third, and they had
02:53three power plays. The third was a carryover. They still had a power play from the
02:58second into the third. So, I just think it was a tremendous advantage. I mean,
03:03you're on the road, and you're shorthanded for the whole first 10 minutes.
03:07Like, are you kidding me? Like, I hope they do that when they're in Edmonton.
03:12You know, if they're going to screw one team, let's just, let's even it out a
03:15little. You know, that's the thing, Mike, about the NHL, and you know this is true.
03:18It's as simple as this. They always even it out. NHL refs always even it out. If
03:24they give one team one, they'll give the other team another one. I never see this.
03:28Three, four, five power plays for one team and none for the other. They had
03:31theirs in the first and then never again. Shut up. Stop it.
03:37Here is Leon Dreisaitl. Very short and sweet from Dreisaitl. We got to be better
03:44at killing penalties. We give up three goals in a row on the kill. It just kills
03:51the momentum, and then you're chasing the game. The game changes from there, so
03:54we got to be an awful lot more mature than that.
03:57Yeah, more mature. Got to be an awful lot more mature.
04:01That's a nice job not getting fined for saying the refs suck.
