00:00But a winner take all game number three DRS to decide a national champion tonight in softball.
00:07It is Texas Tech and Texas.
00:09The Longhorns late in the home half of the sixth on Wednesday night had a two run RBI
00:16single on a pitch that was trying to be an intentional walk of the Longhorns Reese Atwood.
00:22They win that game by one.
00:23Texas Tech needing to win last night to force this winner take all game three.
00:28And that's exactly what they do.
00:31No runs in the opening four frames.
00:34But led by Nigel Kennedy, the Red Raiders keep their season in this series alive for a winner take all game three tonight.
00:424-3 the victory for Texas Tech who led 4-1 with Kennedy on the bump.
00:48And of course, if you're talking atmosphere, that's a great opener for it right there.
00:52Who led 4-1 DRS last night entering the top of the seventh inning with Kennedy on the hill.
01:00And she gave up two in the seventh inning.
01:03Texas had a runner 60 feet away on third.
01:06That would have been the game-tying run in the game-winning run at the dish.
01:11Kennedy gets a strikeout to keep her Red Raiders in the fight.
01:14Both Texas and Texas Tech need a win tonight for the first ever national championship in program history.
01:23Yeah, it's pretty cool at that point, right?
01:24You're always used to the teams that are always there.
01:27It feels like it's Oklahoma in that dynasty finally locked out.
01:29You get a three-game series, which is great here.
01:31The interesting part to me about softball is like, theoretically, I guess one pitcher could pitch the entire season if they're healthy or you wanted them to do that.
01:38Like, it sort of loses a little intrigue because you do want the superstars all the time pitching.
01:44Like, hey, imagine if you had a seven-game series in Major League Baseball and Tarek Skubel got the ball all seven games.
01:49Like, what are we actually doing here at this point?
01:50So it isn't a different, like, anomaly of the sport, which I do find interesting.
01:54But anytime you have a championship and it's a championship game that you know is going to be decided that night,
01:59you always add some intrigue.
02:01And also two programs not used to winning national championships.
02:04How do they handle that situation?
02:05We'll find out.
02:06No odds up for that game just yet.
02:10But Texas Tech was an ever-so-slight Moneyline favorite, minus 115 entering yesterday, minus 111 on the other side for Texas.
02:19What DRS is alluding to is Nigeri Kennedy, who has thrown every single pitch for Tech since the start of the Super Regionals.
02:29That was a two-game series sweep against Florida State, the first-ever Super Regional berth,
02:34and then thus berth into the Women's College World Series for this Red Raiders program,
02:39who has made history on history because of Nigeri Kennedy throughout the entirety of this season.
02:45DRS, two games in the Super Regional, five games now in total in the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
02:51Nigeri Kennedy has thrown every single pitch.
02:55That's 661 pitches consecutively in total.
03:01It has been an otherworldly performance from Kennedy, who has only allowed eight earned runs in this seven-game span.
