00:00We're still looking through the newspapers and I tell you what, if you come across the front page of The Sun, it's an exclusive.
00:05David Beckham is getting his knighthood. What do we think of that? Claire Pearsall and Nigel Nelson still with us.
00:12Claire, I think it's about time. I really do. He has been one of the best ambassadors for the sport,
00:19had a pivotal role in the 2012 Olympics being awarded to the United Kingdom and he has always been around the scene.
00:27And not really put a foot wrong. He's an ambassador for the country, I think, as well, Claire.
00:31Absolutely is. A huge ambassador. You could put him out on the world stage.
00:35People know who he is. He behaves appropriately. And he's just an incredible sportsman.
00:41Well, the amazing thing is it hasn't happened before. I know, it is.
00:44And every time that there is an honours list comes out and his name is not on it, everyone is asking,
00:50what's he done? Why is he not there? He's got an OBE, but he's never got the knighthood.
00:55What the son is suggesting is, this is a bit different, but he's been bonding with the king
01:00and they've got a mutual love of horticulture.
01:03So as a result of that, having got together, the king's obviously said,
01:09well, look, you're obviously a bit late now for the knighthood, time he actually delivered it.
01:13Yeah, it is. What do you think as a Man U fan?
01:16I think, well, I'll tell you this. I used to do a lot of work around the club and whatever it is,
01:21and you would get, and I could name players, who would never sign autographs,
01:26who just walk past fans, wear headphones, and they would never sign autographs.
01:29People like who you wouldn't think, like Eric Cantona, would sign everything in front of him.
01:34And David Beckham, biggest star there is, would never shun or turn down a request from a fan.
01:42And I think that sort of says it all to me. He realises that's his job, that's what he has to do,
01:49and he does it wholeheartedly.
01:51Well, which is why, one of the reasons why he deserves this.
01:54But he's 50 now, so he gave his football career some time ago.
01:59And why he's not got one for all the achievements he had is peculiar.
02:04But somebody had it in for him, obviously.
02:06Yeah, you never know, Wile, but I think it's great news.
02:09I do, and also he stood in the queue to give the Queen his last respect,
02:15so he didn't barge in or do anything terrible.
02:18Other people we know.
02:20And the people in the queue surrounding him, who realised, oh my goodness,
02:25we're standing next to David Beckham, all said what a great guy he was.
02:29He was speaking to everybody, he didn't mind doing autographs then.
02:32He's a very nice, very humble guy.
02:35Do you know, he's been brought up well.
02:37He just has that image of a man who was brought up by a good mum and dad.
02:41He really does.
02:42He thinks I don't like him because I defended Fergie,
02:46the boot-slinging incident on the news.
02:50I do believe, I don't believe anybody's bigger than the manager,
02:53and I do think the manager has the last shout on that,
02:56and I do think Fergie is just God, be all and end all.
03:01But I have nothing against the fella,
03:03and I think he's a tremendous ambassador and a brilliant footballer.
03:08So there we go.
03:08Good luck.
03:09We hope it happens.
03:09It means pot will be Lady Beckham as well.
03:11There you are.
03:12Yes, that's another thing.
03:13I bet she's thrilled.
