The destroyer USS Mason (DDG 87) and the cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) successfully intercepted a supersonic GQM-163 target launched from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility. Utilizing the advanced AEGIS combat system and SM-2 surface-to-air missiles, the operation was part of the SWATT (Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training) exercise conducted by Carrier Strike Group Two (CSG-2).
