Trump defends travel ban, says Egypt has things "under control"

US President Donald Trump on Thursday (June 5) defended his decision to exclude Egypt from a travel ban, one day after he signed a proclamation banning the citizens of 12 countries from entering the United States, saying Egypt "has things under control."   An Egyptian national that authorities say overstayed his visa is being charged in a recent attack in Colorado in which a man tossed a gasoline bomb into a crowd of pro-Israel demonstrators. 00:07why not include Egypt on that list where the suspect was from?

00:10Well, because Egypt has been a country that we deal with very closely.

00:14They have things under control.

00:19And why now? I can say that it can't come soon enough, frankly.

00:23We want to keep bad people out of our country.

00:26Today, the Biden administration allowed some horrendous people,

00:31and we're getting them out one by one.

00:33And we're not stopping until we get them out.

00:35We have thousands of murderers.

00:37I hate to even hate to say this in front of the chancellor.

00:40Of course, you have a little problem, too,

00:42with some of the people that were allowed into your country.

00:44It's not your fault. It's not your fault.

00:46It shouldn't have happened.

00:47I told her it shouldn't have happened, what she did.

00:50But you have your own difficulty with that.

00:52And we do. And we're moving them out.

00:55And we're moving them out very strongly.

00:57But it can't come fast enough.

00:59We want to get them out. We want to get them out now.

01:01We don't want to have other bad people coming into our country.
