00:00Hey gang, look, today I want to talk to you about one of the new products that we got in the store,
00:04Mycelene. You've heard us talking a little bit about it. Today I'm talking to Jack Hamm, COO
00:10and co-owner of InFitness Club. It's up here on the north side of Indianapolis on Meridian.
00:17Jack has been a very instrumental, I guess I would say, in this product and us bringing this
00:23product into the store. Jack's had some experience with it in the past, was kind of talking to
00:27Tracy a little bit about it, and I think Logan and Kale also. But you guys know this has been a
00:32great new product in our market. THC free, obviously. It is a mushroom, it's a water infused mushroom
00:41drink, I guess is how you say it. A lot of really great things inside of this, 5-HTP, vitamin 12,
00:50B12, Rodeo Rosea, so on and so forth. So again, I don't want to talk much about this. What I really
00:57want to talk today was about Jack's experience of using this, why he came to this, some of maybe
01:02some of the past things that he's tried. Jack's an ex-college athlete, again, obviously owns a gym,
01:08100% about health and fitness. So you know our world. We're trying to help people be healthier
01:12with alternative products, and Mycelene is one of them. So Jack, thank you very much for letting me
01:18this time here, buddy. Again, just went through your gym, fantastic facility. You guys got a ton of
01:24things going on here. But you specifically, I mentioned you were a college athlete. Tell me a
01:32little bit about maybe why you came and saw Mycelene, where you came to Mycelene, as well as
01:38maybe what you were doing before that. Sure. Yeah. So it was more recreationally.
01:45Okay. Not super versed into that space until the past year, probably. My wife brought it to me at
01:53beginning, chocolate bars, just as something to kind of lighten the mood a little bit. And I enjoyed
01:58the feeling of calmness I got on it. And so one of my best friends, his name's Seth, he brought that to
02:07the first, he brought it the first time. And so for me, the convenience of not holding chocolate bar
02:11in my pocket, which God knows in the summer is a bad. Right. And kind of just convenience of being
02:17able to have it and put it and involve it into whatever we're drinking for that night. So I think
02:22for me, it was really just the convenience was the first factor it was brought to me. So I just tried
02:26it. Right. And then I fell in love with it and kind of never really looked back. Yeah. Just of the fact
02:32that I can, I can have it on hand, I can use it when I need to, and I can just share it with friends
02:36a lot easier than breaking apart stuff. And it really just felt a little bit more potent and a
02:42little bit faster reacting than the chocolate bars. So I kind of do. When you mentioned chocolate bars,
02:49you mentioned like, like mushroom chocolate. Yeah. Mushroom chocolate. Yeah. Like obviously non-silocybin
02:54mushrooms, but there's a lot of other, there's a lot of other, uh, mushrooms that stack on top
02:59lines, main cordyceps, those types of things. So that's, that's the experience that you're in.
03:02Yeah. And you found this to be obviously the convenience. Correct. But, um, the effects,
03:07the, the, the, the, the distance of the effects, how does that differ? So I can, I can, I can backtrack
03:12to the beginning of it. I was all about the natural effects. So like I have ADHD, it goes on Adderall.
03:17I do all that just to maintain, just being my version of normal where I can function.
03:22Currently. Yeah. Think of a bunch of things. And so when I, when I started getting, and I was on it when I was
03:27younger, went off of it during college, just because it, it kind of affects the way I was
03:30playing sports, heart rate, tempo, all that. Um, and then when you're younger, they always warn you
03:36about the emotional side effects of youth, which is why you don't try to take it. Right. But now at
03:39the right age and in college and so on and so forth, after into master's degrees, it was easy for me to
03:44take. I didn't have to worry about running around all the time. I can still be active and I needed that
03:49focus. And so I wanted to replace it. And so I went deep, I deep dove into the lion's mane and I mix it with
03:54the coffee. So I actually have it behind you and I started with that. Um, and so it's in that bag
03:59on the right. So I just mix that in the morning and I love the effect of it. My goal. I don't,
04:04I don't feel, I don't feel like Adderall is bad. I have a pretty good emotional understanding of where
04:10I should be. So it doesn't agitate me, none of that. And if I feel any of that, I'm pretty good at
04:14just hushing that and dealing with it with myself. So my thing was like, I love natural things. So in any
04:20way I would want to get away from the Adderall. And so coffee for the caffeine, um, energy drinks
04:26nowadays have natural caffeine versus not. They use a coffee, uh, berry, they use green tea extract,
04:32stuff like that. And so I wanted to find a way to get off of Adderall or just to not need it. So
04:37if I have a day where it's like back to back to back, yeah, I can have Adderall. But if I don't,
04:40how do I replace it? And so with the lion's mane and everything involved in this,
04:44this was a huge opportunity for me to see if this was a solution for that need. Um, yeah,
04:52exactly. And I wanted to replace it again, not wholly. I do believe I still need it when I need
04:57it. Um, I take 20 XRs in the morning and then it lasts me until like four or five starts turning
05:01off and then I'm usually good and I don't need any more of that. Um, but the pick me up, I felt just
05:06casually out drinking, just the energy I felt around that and the way I felt just frankly, vibe wise,
05:12it made me feel like I was like lifted a little bit. So I like the multiple effects of this.
05:18So do you use this with alcohol? I do. Yes. Yeah. Yeah, I do. So I, I don't like,
05:24I have celiac disease, so I don't drink a lot of beer. So milk is really heavy. Um,
05:28recently found out that there are actually whiskeys I can't have. So I kind of wrote that
05:31off as not drinking that anymore. Not knowing, not deep diving into it. I found out about two years
05:35ago when we did our blood work here, um, that I had that and that's, I thought like the gut and
05:39being uncomfortable isn't normal. Yeah. Um, clearly it wasn't right. I just didn't know
05:43who's going to be the one that tells you like, Hey, that's not normal. Right. Like you just get,
05:47you don't know it. Right. Right. And so I actually, um, took gluten completely out of my diet. And so
05:51there was no beer, none of that. So when I go out, I usually start with like an energy drink before I
05:56go out just to, you know, I'm pretty tired at the end of the day. Um, and then I go into it and I get
06:01seltzers. So big seltzer, high noons, neutrals, um, not a fan of white claw. And so usually bars
06:05have high noons. Uh, them neutral is great. I prefer that. Um, but I would take that. And so
06:10I have like, probably I usually do like a vodka and ghost mix in the beginning. So just a little
06:16energy and just, you know, I don't want to go out and spend $400 on drinks just to get a buzz.
06:23Right. So I start with something a little more casual and then I go into that with the high
06:27noons. And that's all I have is the seltzers. And so probably about if I take like a normal night,
06:32I would say if I start at like five and I go out with my friends, we have dinner, we have all that
06:36and drinking, hanging out probably around nine is when I start putting that in my seltzer. Oh yeah.
06:41And so no later. Yeah. So probably around nine, I put that in my seltzer and then I probably end up
06:46doing three squirts and the first one. And then I usually end up doing one more in the seltzer later
06:52on. Okay. And that's usually it. So when I go home, I mean, I'm 32. So when I go home,
06:57like the bar tab is great. You know, I had like five seltzers, you know, like that's way better
07:01than what it used to be. And so I kind of found like the balance of real life. This is what I need
07:06to do. And then that, and then the hangover was just not existing. And so for me, that was a huge
07:12proponent of it too. And, and my friends love it. Seth brought it to us obviously, and everybody
07:17likes it. And so that's why, you know, we reached out and I was like, we should really figure out how
07:21to get this because I mean, I bought a box from you. Right. That was the thing is like, this is such a
07:25good solution to it. And I know I shared a story with you that you were interested in. Um, I do
07:30like, I run a business. I own it with my partner. There's a lot of people I care about here. We have
07:3640 employees and some of them are in my wedding, best friends. And I think when I get stressed and my
07:42wife knows this, there's a moment where like, I would say probably like once a month where she like
07:47knows I'm not going back to bed. Like it just, it happens. Like I wake up and it's just my brain,
07:51my brain will just go and then I can't stop thinking. And some of it's turned into phenomenal
07:54ideas. Right. Right. Um, but it's like, um, so I have a background in psychology and counseling.
08:00So I was a counselor for years. So I wouldn't say it's like an anxiety attack, but it's probably
08:04a precursor. Like heart starts pounding a little bit. Um, I feel like a burn and I get a little
08:09anxious. Hard breathe. Right. Yeah. And so Kristen's, my wife, Kristen's been trying, like she tries
08:13to like help me like, you know, Hey, it's all right. Go back to sleep. Like it just, at this point
08:18now she's like, I understand. And I just go. So there's multiple times where like I show
08:22up at like three at the gym just cause I need to be here. Right. And then I ended up like
08:26getting a little crash later cause I'm tired. But like in those moments I can go from like
08:29three to like 1 PM. Like fine. Yeah. Because it's like a normal day. Right. And this, I
08:34was, I remember it very clearly. It was two months ago. I woke up, same thing. I was like,
08:39I'm going to try this instead of anything else to see if the effects of that, take it at home,
08:46took it with water in the morning and then drove to the gym, got here 30 minutes in.
08:51It was probably about four o'clock in the morning at that point. It started, that feeling went
08:55completely away. Really? Yeah. And it just made me feel as if I was actually focused one
09:00to uplifted where like that pounding in my chest went away. Um, and I'm part of that too
09:05is because I was doing my job. I don't think I could take that and go back to sleep. Right.
09:08Um, so like solving my issue head on. I can't. Right. I mean, and so it was a natural.
09:13I was going to ask you about it. I mean, interrupt you, but you're talking about taking it like
09:16at nine o'clock at night. I mean, when I first got nine o'clock at night, when I stay out till
09:20one. Okay. Thank you. When I first got this, when we first got to the store, you know, I'm like,
09:26all right, let's do it. And everything comes in the store. I try. I try a little, I try a lot.
09:31You know, same thing we talked about. So you can, people are trying to trust you and you got to be
09:35able to talk from experience. The first time I tried this, I did four scores. I thought I was going
09:40to run through the wall. I mean, literally like the entire day I was like, get out of my way.
09:46I've got stuff to do. Right. And if you're not doing it with me, then right. You know,
09:50how did you take it? Did you take it in something? Water. Okay. Yeah. Just squirt it. Okay. The first
09:53time I took it, I put it in like a little small water bottle, like a eight ounce and drank the
09:57whole thing. Okay. Um, 30 minutes later, I could feel this warm rush just kind of come over top of me.
10:03Yeah. I'm like, here we go. Now it lasted six, eight hours. Right. It lasts a while. So that's why I was saying
10:08you take this at night and like, how do you sleep? So I think it's because of the alcohol, right? So
10:12alcohol is a downer. Right. Right. So by the time that comes, yeah, I'm ready. So like fix me up for
10:17the end. And then like, they're both kind of mesh. And then I think just, just being naturally exhausted,
10:22like I shouldn't be out to one. Right. Right. Saying that on, I should not be out to one. But by the time
10:27that's there, I'm just like, okay, it's good. I'm ready to go to bed. And I just, I fall right asleep and
10:32I'm fine. And then I wake up fine. So I think it was a huge, a huge solution to what I needed. Um, Seth,
10:37Seth brought it to us. So I, he knows a lot more about it and he used it for a while. So he goes
10:41straight directly in his mouth. He does. Um, yeah. We've got a couple of people that'll just
10:45put it underneath their tongue. Yeah. And, and he's more versed in it. So he does it a little
10:48more. So I tried that on my bachelor trip in Scottsdale probably about a month ago, mid
10:54May. And I tried that and it was the first time I ever felt nauseous. So I did. Yeah. It was too
10:59much of the direct, um, but any dilution of it and I was fine. Also I traveled that day. It's Scottsdale
11:05is not Indiana. I don't know if you know that. So it was 90 something degrees there
11:09and sunny and I was dehydrated. So I think that played into it, but that's the only time
11:12I've ever had anything. And that, and I proceeded to use it. I was there for five days. I pursued
11:17using four days and I was fine. So I think there is a balance to that. Um, when you first
11:21try it to not directly do it at that level, um, just for the nausea effects. But I mean,
11:26that's anything. Right. Um, and I think because it's a squirt bottle too, you have to kind
11:30of get used to it. Yeah. What, what is a sir? What's a squirt? Yeah. I can squeeze
11:34the whole bottle. So what, what's the squirt? And so I think that, that for me was an eye
11:41opening experience where I was like, this is actually a solution to this. I'll use the
11:46word anxiety lightly. This is the, this is the stress that I feel. And this is actually
11:50a solution to the stress that I feel. And then, like you said that day I didn't use Adderall.
11:53Use Adderall. Right. So on those days I don't like putting chemicals in my body. I like natural.
11:58So if I have that heart pounding day, I won't take Adderall that day. Right. Right. Um, and
12:02so I replaced it with that. And that was, that was a huge, um, benefit for me, honestly, to
12:08see that I could do that. And it's something that I love.
12:10I think one of the points that Jesus made, I think is important is like I said, I've
12:13got a couple of guys that use this and some of them will just put underneath their tongue,
12:16you know, that kind of thing. The first time I use that, put it in water, drink the whole
12:19thing. Um, since then I put it in a bottle of water and kind of sip on it. Yeah. And if
12:23you, you know, drink it over an hour or whatever, you know, it seems good. It tastes, it tastes,
12:27it tastes great. Right. I mean, it's just like a meal. Right. And so, you know, you
12:31got a flavored water, you know, you're hydrating, but like you said, you got to make sure you're
12:34hydrating and too many of us go out drinking and we don't hydrate, which is obviously part
12:38of the hangover side. I've mixed it with Gatorade too. Yeah. Yep. Yep. Okay. Perfect. So it
12:42gives a double, yeah. Yeah. Or electrolytes. Yeah. Yeah. And so, yeah, I think it's a, I think
12:46it is a great alternative to, to folks that are looking for, again, in our world, a non THC based product.
12:52Yep. Right. Because I feel like it gives me, I don't know, I'm not sure if you're familiar with
12:56THC or how familiar you are with that, but for me, it gives me THC gives me, uh, head, um, not, uh,
13:05it, it, it, it gives me focus in my head to like think about one thing. Right. This is my whole body.
13:12Right. And it makes my whole body like feel active. You feel the same way? I do feel the same way. So I
13:16think, I think the big thing on that is it's, I think the chemicals that are involved in our natural
13:21body, um, responds better to something like that because it's, it doesn't tend to have the same
13:26relaxing features. Um, I think when people are relaxed, ironically, like watching Netflix when
13:31you're chilling, like you're focused on one thing and nothing else is on your mind. I wouldn't
13:35consider THC a performance day-to-day enhancing. Right. Um, while this, I would consider that it
13:40does add that layer of focus and ability to kind of do that. I think with people specifically with
13:44ADHD, which is a smaller community, but it's a lot more than people realize nowadays. Um,
13:50the hardest thing for us chemically in that is switching from thing to thing to thing.
13:53Yeah. So I, that's my big thing is like, I would be fine just operating as is and probably not need
13:58Adderall if I just sat here and work on my computer all day. Right. But I still love training and I
14:02have four clients I really care about. So for me, it's like they're spaced out. So I can't go six to
14:06seven, seven to eight, eight to nine, go work. Right. And then my 10 30 shows up. Right. That 10,
14:12that hour and a half from work to that is really, really hard. Right. And then taking that training
14:16and coming back is really hard with that. I think it helps with that focus where you can flip it on,
14:21flip it off, flip it on, flip it off. And that, that means a lot to me personally, just walking
14:25around this gym and seeing, you know, all the clients that you, not you have, but all the clients
14:30in the gym, all the trainers that you have, all the facilities that you have from your private
14:34training here to your pool in the back, your basketball in the back, you've got a lot going on to try to
14:38keep all that organized. Yeah. You know, like you said, this, this is, this really doesn't cloud
14:44the mind. Correct. It really just kind of uplifts the entire body. Yeah. I guess. I think, I think
14:50companies create a brand around that. Right. So like, you know, the companies that like mix the
14:57psychedelics and the actual health. And it's always like a line where they're like, what do I put in
15:02this versus what I put in this? And sometimes they blend and it's just like, okay, but this,
15:06they, they tend to seem to just focus on what they do best. Yes. And that is what I really
15:12appreciate because it just, it, I never have to worry about like, oh, is this mixed with something?
15:18Is this going to make me feel a little different? It's like, I know what I'm getting every single
15:21time. Right. And, and I think for me, anything that's natural, everybody in the gym agrees,
15:27anything natural is the way it's supposed to be. Yeah. Like a lot of people, you know,
15:32if it's on this earth, it's here for a reason, good, bad, whatever it is, figure it out. And
15:35I think that people believe that this stuff, when it's natural like that and all this stuff
15:39in the, the fungi and the mushroom, like people are way more open to it because it's just less
15:44alarming than a lab that created something. Yes. I mean, I know it's made in a lab, but you
15:48know what I mean? Like, yeah. But again, you know, on the back of the packaging, we've got
15:51a QR code, you know, you can go to that. It'll show you exactly what's in the product. It goes to what
15:55they call COA, which is certificate of analysis. It's a test result to show what's in the product.
16:00So you can see if there's any heavy metals or anything like that are in the product. It shows
16:04all the ingredients of them. All of them are legal. All of them are natural ingredients.
16:08It is, it is a stack. Yeah. And I think that's the important thing about this. I've seen a lot
16:12of products like this, that like you said, maybe hit one or one or two of the associations,
16:16but this one's stacked on top really kind of is an overall. Yeah. And I think everybody knows
16:20with their experience with, you know, chocolate bars, mushroom bars and everything, like
16:23it's baking. Yeah. Right. Like you make cinnamon bread and one bite's going to be full of cinnamon,
16:29one's not. Right. So like same concept, being in a liquid form, shaking a little bit and then
16:34using it, like at least you're getting the most accurate mix of what you need to do. Yeah. Yeah.
16:39Yeah. Well, man, thank you very much. I appreciate it. I appreciate you sharing your story with us.
16:43Obviously, you know, and again, I appreciate you, you know, being a proponent of this for us as well.
16:47Yeah, absolutely. You know, best of luck to what you guys got going on. I appreciate your
16:51spirit and helping people. That's exactly what we're in the business to do too. So I appreciate
