Trump Says He Had A 'Really Good Conversation' With Xi And Received An Invite To China

While meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Oval Office, President Trump discussed his phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

00:24trade talks trade relations are back on track after appearing to be a little

00:30bit off track last week a little bit off track it was only the complexity is it's

00:34pretty complex stuff that we had a very good conversation with President Xi a

00:39little while ago just before you know your arrival in fact we just hung up and

00:43they said you're here I said that's pretty good to two great leaders of the

00:47world in a very short period of time we had a very good talk and we've

00:54straightened out any complexity this is very complex stuff and we straighten it

00:58out the agreement was we're going to have Scott and Howard and Jameson will be

01:07going and meeting with their top people and continued forward but no I think we

01:12have everything I think we're in very good shape with China and the trade deal we

01:17have a deal with China as you know but we were straightening out some of the

01:22points having to do mostly with rare earth magnets and some other things so

01:28it's reduced trade tariff rates they remain in effect we have we have the

01:33deal I mean we've had a deal we announced the deal and will be I guess you could

01:38say I wouldn't even say finalizing it up Scott I would say we have a deal and

01:42we're going to just make sure that everybody understands what the deal is

01:44okay he had a really good conversation by the way he invited me to China and I

01:50invited him here we've both accepted so I'll be going there with the first lady

01:55at a certain point and he'll be coming here hopefully with the first lady of

01:59China
