00:00U.S. President Donald Trump is resurrecting a travel ban policy from his first term,
00:07signing a proclamation that prevents people from a dozen countries from entering the United States.
00:12He linked the ban to a recent terror attack in Boulder, Colorado.
00:16In the 21st century, we've seen one terror attack after another carried out by foreign
00:21visa overstayers from dangerous places all over the world. And thanks to Biden's open door
00:28policies. Today, there are millions and millions of these illegals who should not be in our country.
00:35In my first term, my powerful travel restrictions were one of our most successful policies,
00:41and they were a key part of preventing major foreign terror attacks on American soil.
00:47Some, but not all 12 countries also appeared on the list of banned countries in Trump's first term.
00:53In 2017, Trump issued an executive order banning travel to the U.S. by citizens of
00:58seven predominantly Muslim countries. While that was one of the most chaotic and confusing moments of
01:04his young presidency, he appears to be on firmer ground this time after the Supreme Court sided with
01:09him in 2018.
01:10At least five people, including a one-year-old child, have been killed in a Russian drone attack
01:22on the northern Ukrainian city of Prilyaki, say local officials.
01:26Six drones hit a residential area in the city shortly before dawn on Thursday, injuring nine others.
01:39Seventeen people were also wounded in Russian strikes on the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.

01:52saying Moscow will retaliate for Ukraine's drone attacks on Russian military airfields on Sunday.

02:06New Zealand's parliament suspended three lawmakers who performed a Maori haka to protest a proposed law.
02:19The three performed a haka in parliament in opposition of the widely unpopular
02:25and since-defeated Treaty Principles Bill, which they say would reverse indigenous rights.
02:30It sought to legally define the principles of the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi,
02:37signed between Maori leaders and the British Crown during New Zealand's colonization.
02:45A tribe in California has regained ancestral territory as part of the largest land-backed conservation project
02:54in the state's history.
02:55The Yurok tribe has reacquired roughly 189 square kilometers of forest land along the Klamath River,
03:05more than doubling its land holdings in northwestern California.
03:10Reacquiring landscapes like this allows us to work towards healing a wound that was inflicted not only on the lands,
03:19but our hearts when these lands were taken away from us.
03:22The Yurok will manage the land using traditional practices like controlled burns,
03:28prairie restoration and invasive species removal to support wildlife and create jobs for tribal members.
03:37The deal is part of the growing Land Back movement to return land to indigenous peoples
03:43and reflects increasing recognition of their ecological knowledge as vital to combating climate change.
03:49Over the past decade, around 12,000 square kilometers of land has been returned to tribes across 15 states as part of a federal program.
04:01Severe storms in southern Germany forced a Ryanair flight to make an emergency landing after violent turbulence injured nine people on board.
04:16The flight was traveling from Berlin to Milan but had to land at Memingen Airport in Bavaria late on Wednesday.
04:22Three people were taken to the hospital in Memingen while the other injured people were released after receiving outpatient treatment.
04:30The German Weather Service warned of further storms on Thursday, with hails, strong winds and localized heavy rain expected.

04:51This statement is in general in line with the final verdict.
04:55Viktor Orbán's government in Hungary banned the portrayal of same-sex couples for minors in 2021.
05:05The government said this is needed to protect children, but NGOs say this is a discrimination against sexual minorities.
05:14Now the general advocate agreed with this argument.
05:19This year Hungary banned the Budapest Pride based on the child protection law.
05:23North Korea has once again affirmed its unconditional support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
05:38The comments were made by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during a meeting with top Russian officials in Pyongyang on Wednesday,
05:46according to North Korea's state-run news agency.
05:48The two countries' ties have strengthened in recent years, with Pyongyang sending thousands of troops to Russia to help with its war against Ukraine.
06:01During the meeting, the two countries discussed the prospect of rebuilding areas in Russia's Kursk region, according to Russia's state news agency.
06:10Israel has recovered the bodies of two hostages killed and taken by Hamas in the attack that took place on 7 October 2023, officials have said.
06:27Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Judith Weinstein and Gad Haggai's remains were recovered in a special operation by the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet Internal Security Agency.
06:42Netanyahu extended his heartfelt condolences to their families in a statement following the operation.
06:49Kibbutz near Oz, to which Judith Weinstein and Gad Haggai belonged, announced their deaths in December 2023.
07:00The military said their bodies were recently found in Khan Yunus.
07:04The couple were survived by two sons, two daughters and seven grandchildren, the kibbutz said.
07:16At least 11 people were killed in a stampede outside a cricket stadium in southern India.
07:22The crush happened as tens of thousands of cricket fans gathered outside the Royal Challenger's Bengaluru Team Stadium to celebrate their winning of the Indian Premier League.
07:30Karnataka State Chief Minister Sidhara Maya says close to three dozen others were injured in the incident.
07:37He noted that the crowds tried to break one of the stadium's gates to enter and take part in the celebrations.
07:43He also added that most of those injured were transferred to nearby hospitals to receive treatment for their wounds and are in stable condition.
07:51Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also commented on the incident, calling it heart-rending and expressed his condolences to those who lost their loved ones.
08:00Stampedes are relatively common in India when large crowds gather.

08:30Watching it all from his office in Vienna is Michael Spindeliger, director general of ICMPD, an organisation that plays a role in shaping migration policy in Europe.
08:42Now it's going down, but you don't know how long this is staying with these lower numbers.
08:49Still, if you have a look to the numbers of asylum seekers in Europe, it is very high.
08:55So also last year, we had nearly one million asylum applications in Europe.
09:01This is a very high number.
09:02And so I think it is not a situation where we can calm down.
09:08It is a situation where we have to look exactly what kind of measures have to be done for the future.
09:14But what about Italy and Denmark, I ask?
09:17The two migration hawks have written to the European Court of Human Rights asking for, quote, more room to crack down on migration.
09:25Michael Spindeliger admits there are some, quote, legal issues, but calls their measures innovative.
09:31I think everybody is invited to look to, as they call it, intelligent, modern ways to deal with the migration issues.
09:42And this model, especially from Italy, to deal with migration procedures in Albania is interesting because this is a new way.
09:53For their part, the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has written their own letter saying that debate is healthy, but politicizing the court is not.
10:03Interior ministers from all across the bloc will be gathering in Luxembourg next week to discuss migration.

10:14The FBI have arrested a 32-year-old man they say was an accomplice in last month's bombing of a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California.

10:37providing and attempting to provide material support to a terrorist, the man who committed a suicide car bombing of the American Reproductive Centers in Palm Springs, California.
10:49Federal officials say Daniel Park spent years stockpiling supplies of ammonium nitrate, a chemical that can be used to make explosives.
10:58Their investigation revealed records of purchases of the chemical dating back to October 2022, with the most recent coming just days before the attack in mid-May.
11:08Park is accused of shipping 82 kg of the chemical to the attacker Guy Edward Barkas' California home in January.
11:16He also made another shipment of 41 kg a few days before the attack.
11:22Park also allegedly spent time in the attacker's home and garage a few months before the explosion, where the pair conducted bomb-making experiments.
11:31He was arrested on Tuesday in New York's JFK airport upon arrival after being extradited from Poland, where he'd fled four days after the attack.
