They may be small in size, but they certainly have big voices and even bigger personalities.
00:10
We're here at the North Carolina Zoo meeting some incredible little birds known as sun conures.
00:18
It's easy to see where their sunny title comes from.
00:22
Those brilliantly colored feathers rival the beauty of a true sunrise.
00:28
The sun conure is related to more than 350 other colorful birds, all known as parrots, because they have some things in common.
00:36
First, they have a curved beak.
00:39
These tiny tweezers help them to pluck up small berries, fruits, nuts, and seeds.
00:46
The shape, along with the strength of that beak, allows them to easily break into the hard outer shell of their food.
00:52
Second, their feet are zygodactyl, which means they have two toes pointed forward and two toes pointed backwards.
01:03
This makes them incredible climbers, both right side up and sometimes upside down.
01:11
Third, in more than three quarters of parrot species, it is impossible to tell males and females apart just by looking at them.
01:18
Can you tell which one is the male and which one is the female?
01:22
How about now?
01:24
It can be difficult just to identify different individuals, as they are extremely social birds.
01:29
In Brazil and Guyana, where sun conures are from, they're often found in groups of up to 30 birds flying through the forest.
01:40
At North Carolina Zoo, these sun conures are able to stretch their wings and show off those skills.
01:46
We're they're ambassadors for their species.
01:48
We're they're sure to convey учed their wings, productions, arbets, and feed them the equivalents.
01:50
We're aware of them.
01:51
We're there, there, there, there, there, there, there.
01:56
Pretty much happens.
