00:00Andrea, you're a straight talking person. Please help us get to the bottom of this.
00:04What does the Reform Party think?
00:07No, it's as Nigel said, this is about that. We've got to have these conversations.
00:12It's banned in other countries. And I mean, just look at how Starmer handled Sarah's question.
00:18She immediately shut it down, which is actually affecting freedom of speech.
00:23And it's right. We have these conversations. I think it was just like my tent comment.
00:28Actually, it's about getting it out there, getting people talking about it.
00:33And let's have the debate.
00:35I mean, Zia Yusuf said, I do think it's dumb for a party to ask the prime minister if they would do something the party itself wouldn't do.
00:42So Zia Yusuf, five hours, seems to have have no idea what the policy is or should be.
00:48He's the chairman, isn't he?
00:50No, we're not saying it's the policy. We're saying we need to have the conversation and the conversation with the public.
00:55What do they want? And that'll help formulate the policy, won't it?
00:59Andrea, isn't this exactly what Kemi Badenoch is doing with the Conservative Party right now?
01:03You ask any Tory shadow minister a question and they say, well, no, we're having a serious conversation about that.
01:09But they can't give you any answers. Isn't reform falling into exactly the same trap as the Conservative Party saying, you know what?
01:16Yeah, no, we should have a serious conversation about that. But we don't know what our policy is.
01:19No, but as I said, when I defected, I joined the Party of the Brave.
01:24We are having these conversations, the ones that people think about but don't often say.
01:30So, no, we've got to have these debates. And then you help formulate policy.
01:35I mean, it's like myself as mayor, I've said I'm quite interested in potentially looking at having a new town in Lincolnshire.
01:42But let's have this debate. Let's discuss whether that's what people want.
01:46So what is wrong with that approach on some policy areas?
01:50And would you personally like to see a ban on it? What do you reckon?
01:54I mean, I'd like to see banning face coverings full stop, to be honest.
01:58I mean, we know that if you wear a crash helmet, you're not allowed to go into a bank without removing it.
02:04And, you know, it is intimidating to some people when you can't see someone's face when you're speaking to them.
02:14So we've got to genuinely have this conversation. To me, it's about the safety aspect.
02:19We don't know who is, you know, wearing this.
02:24And but again, it's not just about what I think. It's about having this debate, what Nigel said.
02:31Presumably you'd have a carve out for the 31st of October.
02:34The face covering ban. Presumably you'd have a carve out for the 31st of October for the face covering ban.
02:40Oh, Halloween.
02:41Are you going to criminalise every child wearing a ghost costume or?
02:45Oh, come on. Children.
02:48God, son, come on.
02:49He always finds the exception, Andrea.
02:51Andrea Jenkins, thank you very much. Dame Andrea Jenkins, thank you very much.
02:54Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire. So there you go.
