00:00My name is Rosemary O'Hare. I'm Principal Librarian here in the Mitchell Library.
00:04So we have an extensive e-offer here that help to support study, research and even just reading for enjoyment.
00:12They're reliable sources, sources of information and some of the key ones I can highlight for you.
00:19We have a Gale Literature Resource Centre and that has literary criticism.
00:24So that can help students for their essays, to have everything they need for their essays, including topic help and biographies.
00:33Another great one that we have is the Oxford Dictionaries and that can help improve your language.
00:40So if you're either a student or new to the city, it can help give you grammar tips, audio pronunciations and also writing tools.
00:49Another key one is if you're wanting to improve your CV and you're learning to drive, we've got Theory Test Pro.
00:59So that helps you with the Theory Test so you can practice the exam and build up your scores so you feel more confident when you actually sit your exam.
01:07And similar to that, we have Go Citizen.
01:09So if you're new to the UK and you're sitting the Life in the UK Test, you can practice the exam and build up your scores so that it's quite expensive to actually do the exam so you can build up your scores that way.
01:24Some of these resources, the databases, are really expensive to buy and hard to access normally.
01:29So we're providing that just for the citizen.
01:32All you need is your library card.
01:34So they're free to access, they're reliable information, easy to access rather than just a simple browser search.
01:41You can actually, you can trust the information that you're finding out.
01:44And it's putting you on a level playing field if you're studying or going for an interview.
01:48You're ginning up for an interview, for a job interview so you can find out about your company or find out more information about the topic.
01:55But it does actually, it's for leisure as well, so reading for enjoyment.
01:58We've got all the e-magazines.
02:00If you take up a new hobby and you want to find out more about that hobby, you can find out more about photography, arts and crafts, sport.
02:09Or if you're into self-improvement, you can, there's fitness and nutrition magazines as well, cooking.
02:15So there's something for everyone.
02:17So it is for your work study, but also for leisure as well.
02:20As you can see, it's a very busy space and we've got a variety of people who use the space.
02:27It's cities, Glasgow is a very diverse city.
02:30So we have access to material in multiple languages.
02:32So whether it's your first language you want to access material in, or if you're learning English, it's another way of accessing that.
02:39We have magazines, newspapers in languages, Urdu, Chinese, Ukrainian, a variety of languages.
02:49So you just go to our website, or if you've got the library app, you can download the library app, and you can just join up for a library card, or if you come in and speak to a member of staff.
02:58But if you're joining up online, you can get access right away to some of our e-resources, and you can just start it right away.
