South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) is revolutionizing agriculture in Chhattisgarh by channeling treated mine water to irrigate over 3,000 hectares in Koriya and Surajpur districts, doubling farmers’ incomes. The Jagannathpur Open Cast Project supplies 2,659 cubic meters of water daily, transforming 500 acres into fertile fields for paddy, wheat, and vegetables. SECL’s Rs. 99.60 lakh CSR-funded Farmers’ Community Irrigation Project in Balrampur-Ramanujganj lifts water from Tura Nala and Mahan River, irrigating 70–80 acres per village. Farmers, contributing ₹25 per acre monthly, now grow two crops annually, aligning with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of rural prosperity. This sustainable mining model fosters a greener future.
