Summit bares newest component that meets nutritional needs of Pinoys

Kim Irvin Protacio, Science researcher specialist of the Department of Science and Technology - Food and Nutrition Research Institute, says the National Nutrition Summit’s newest component—the food environment— shows places where households purchase and gather food. The new research component reveals that the food environment affects intake and meets the nutritional needs of Filipinos.

00:00In the Philippines, but we have grouped it into four major groups.
00:04So I know some of you are familiar with this.
00:07So the first one is the natural food environment, where this includes the wild food environment,

00:40street food vendors, sani-sani stores, and other small retailers.
00:45The other major group is the modern food stores, which includes the supermarket market or hyper markets,
00:52convenience and grocery stores, fast food restaurants, and all other types of restaurants,
00:57single food items for special e-store, and online vendors.
01:03And lastly, you also take into consideration other unique food environment in the Philippines,
01:10such as those in institutions and public procurement, such as those in school and hospital catheterias,
01:18food transfer, including food aids, food gifts, as well as community battery,
01:23and other unique food environment in the Philippines, such as Pasabay, Mortar, and Duvendo machine.
01:31And now this is for the providing specs gets interesting.
01:34So let's first look into the availability of food environment among households.
01:40So this slide shows the nearest food environment types among households by place of residence.
