Well this is just deja vu. We were here this time last year with the line approved and
00:09
here we are this time this year with it ready to be approved again but at a very important and
00:17
difficult point. So this is the line from Tavistock to Plymouth linking us, giving us better
00:24
connectivity with Plymouth which will benefit not only the residents of Tavistock but the residents
00:29
of Plymouth that will be a fast train journey from here through Beer Alstom into Plymouth helping
00:37
commuters and shoppers and tourists and people taking leisure trips. And it's totally what the
00:43
government wants to do. They want to do growth connectivity and we are growth and tech connectivity.
00:52
Parts of Plymouth are desperate to be regenerated. We've got an enormous amount of money coming in
00:59
four billion pounds are coming into Babcock. People are going to have to go there, work there.
01:04
It's going to be a huge expansion for that part of Plymouth and we need a railway. Behind us are
01:12
houses being built, many of them on the assumption there would be a railway and god willing there will
01:20
be a railway and we don't need much money. We just need one percent and so that by 2028 the whole thing
01:27
is still ready to be shoveled. It's shovel ready. Very important. These are very very important weeks.
01:35
We could look at yeah yeah going back 10 years. If we don't get the money now you could be looking at a
01:42
10 year delay if you'd have to start it all over again in in 2030 or some nonsense. But we're very
01:49
much hoping that this time we will get the funding and we will be able to get the government to deliver
01:54
the railway from Tavistock into Plymouth because it the Dartmoor line which connects O'Campson
02:01
and Exeter has been such a phenomenal success. 1,100,000 journeys have been taken on that line.
02:10
400,000 journeys a year now. It's made such a huge difference. A difference to young people,
02:17
they're all traveling in and out to college, increasing their social circle, giving them
02:23
opportunities that they never experienced before. People who want to go shopping in Exeter, people from
02:30
Exeter who want to go shopping in O'Campson. So we hope that that situation will be replicated for Tavistock
02:37
and help to boost the prosperity of the town. Absolutely and all we need is one percent of the funding.
