Left Party MP expelled from German parliament for wearing Palestine t-shirt

Bundestag president Julia Klöckner explained that political statements expressed through clothing are not allowed, before asking Köktürk to leave.

00:00Left-Party MP Kanzin Kirk-Turk was thrown out of a German Parliament plenary chamber on Wednesday
00:08for wearing a T-shirt with the word Palestine written on it.
00:13Bundestag President Julia Klerkner explained that political statements expressed through clothing are not allowed
00:19before asking Kirk-Turk to leave.
00:30Klerkner added that she had asked Kirk-Turk in private to change her clothes, who had apparently refused.
00:38It's not the first time Kirk-Turk has sparked controversy.
00:42On her first day as an MP, she appeared in Parliament wearing a scarf resembling a Palestinian kafir,
00:49a move which prompted members of the Conservative CDU to push for an official ban on such symbols.
00:55The Bundestag's regulations do not clearly set out rules on clothing,
01:01but require deputies and visitors to dress in keeping with the prestige of the institution.
