00:00Richard, is it from you, Richard, is it like I told you so?
00:06Well, not really. I mean, the big worry is we now have a government, the Labour government,
00:10that doesn't have any plan. There's a realistic deterrence for people crossing the channel and
00:15getting into this country illegally. And the answer was already on paper for them. It was
00:20there as passing legislation, which was the Rwanda scheme. People who come through across
00:25the channel should never have the right to live in the UK. That's the wrong policy. That's the
00:31wrong approach. And the Rwanda scheme was the way to stop that happening.
00:36The government, Heidi Alexander was on for them this morning. And she says, well,
00:39if you're so confident in the Rwanda scheme, then why did you call an early election?
00:45There are lots of questions about why the election was called. I'm concerned with MP,
00:49but that isn't one of them. And I'm afraid Heidi Alexander doesn't know what she's talking about.
00:52And it's interesting, isn't it, that she didn't dispute what the figures are showing. And so the
00:58big question is, why did the new Labour government get rid of the one thing that was demonstrating
01:02that it was a proven deterrent for people going across the channel? And why is it that the government
01:08is not taking more robust action, trying to persuade the French or taking actions that will
01:15encourage the French to be more proactive on the French coastline as well?
