00:00...by the side, just to keep them a little straighter and more stable in that starting position.
00:04The fly race in 15 seconds brought up for the final time this weekend.
00:07The Liqui Moly MXGP of Germany, WMX Race 2, round 3 of the 2025 World Championship campaign.
00:19Oh, Guiane tried to go early there and she may have just paid the price.
00:23Ventruna though, with a rocket start.
00:26Volk behind her, and then in the yellow, Larissa Papamaya.
00:30Alongside her, just moving up into third, the number eight of Fontanese.
00:34It's Greasy on track at the moment, Fontanese doing what she did in race one.
00:37Making a sprint for it early, and she's already all over the back of Ventruna.
00:46Papamaya there in fourth, Guiane in fifth.
00:51Fontanese looking to move around the outside of the Sand Queen, the Queen of Sand, the 401,
00:57who's keen to re-establish her lead at the top.
01:04Three points coming into this one.
01:05She does not want to lose three more.
01:09Certainly to Chiara Fontanese, because that will tie them at the top of the championship.
01:17And it will go down to race wins, and in that case, Fontanese will take the red plate to the Netherlands in three months' time.
01:23But Vandruna leads, Fontanese second, Volk third, Papamaya, Hughes, rounding out your top five.
01:32Great start for the French girl, Franzoni.
01:34Verstappen seven, Guillen eight, Jakobsen, and Solebo rounding out your top ten.
01:40Then just behind them, we've got Vandervnis, Gillissen, Schlosser in the points again.
01:44Branson, Missouri, Barker.
01:46Can she survive lap one without too many hiccups?
01:50Scudertite, Fiona Hopper, Virginie Gamond, and Beneket.
01:59Papamaya jumping up.
02:00This is the new part of the racetrack, Fontanese going after Vandrunen, hops up onto that plateau, turn 13.
02:08But it is going to be greasy.
02:10The sighting laps, you don't have to do the sighting laps if you choose not to.
02:15They get a ten-minute window where you can do probably two or three laps.
02:19Conditions weren't too bad.
02:20Fontanese went out on track first.
02:22Vandrunen shadowed her, and they were putting in some pretty decent laps, the two of them.
02:27So they've already figured each other out.
02:28And I would say Vandrunen has figured Fontanese out also because it was her who was following the number eight round for the entirety of those two or three laps in the warm-up.
02:38But they are pulling away from Volk, who is still there in third place on the Vandrunen KTM.
02:45But a real showdown between the top two in the championship as it stands right now.
02:54Vandrunen not normally keen on hardpack compared to her sand-riding prowess.
02:58Vandrunen is probably the more complete in that respect.
03:03Vandrunen also doesn't mind riding in the mud.
03:08But now that she's got this first lap under her belt, I wonder just how much confidence that's bringing for the 4.01 of Vandrunen.
03:15Vandrunen hasn't had a challenge yet from the number eight.
03:20She hasn't shown her an inch of that red front fender on that gas-gas.
03:26And where are the track limits in terms of how hard can you push?
03:33Because these two are very evenly matched at the moment.
03:36Of course, you've really got to step it up to find your way past Vandrunen at this stage,
03:42which then means putting a little bit more pressure on yourself, pushing even harder to try and make that gap, bridge that gap.
03:49And that then forces a mistake, possibly, unless you know you've got a little bit of reserve.
03:54The gap 1.3 at the split a moment ago into the bottom of turn 10.
04:00The right-hander just to their left, that 180 right, will get the next split coming out of this next right into the next left.
04:07So it was 1.39.
04:10And Vandrunen now, as they hit sector two, pulls another three or four tenths down.
04:15It's out to 1.7.
04:17Here's Martine Hughes and Daniela Guillen.
04:19They are fifth and sixth at the moment.
04:23He put the flag out now.
04:24We've got a Fontenelle, Vandrunen, Volk podium.
04:27Volk on 38, Guillen on 37.
04:29So the Spaniard
04:30needs to find a way past two more riders
04:36because a tie will not get her on the box.
04:47But the Kawasaki rider, Martine Hughes, the Norwegian, remember when she burst onto the scene when she was riding for Livia Lancelot's 114 Honda Racing Team?
04:58And she was absolutely rapid fast.
05:05Just being unlucky with crashes and one thing or another, maybe injuries as well.
05:08But looking to find some of that confidence again, it seems, as she hones in on Larissa Pappenmayer.
05:16On the red, Honda Pappenmayer in fourth place.
05:19Hughes, fifth.
05:21Guillen losing a little bit of toe.
05:23It was nine tenths down.
05:26Still hovering within a second there in the red and yellow.
05:32The two riders at the front, Vandrunen and Fontenelle,
05:35give or take a little bit within about two tenths of each other as they hit the line lap time-wise.
05:40Gap down to 1.2.
05:41So Fontenelle not letting off.
05:43And nor is Daniela Guillen.
05:47She goes to the inside.
05:49Looks to replicate.
05:50Tags the rear wheel.
05:51Can't get back on track there.
05:54So she, without doing a U-turn anyway,
05:58costs her time.
06:00Tags the rear wheel of Martine Hughes.
06:03Take a look at the start again, shall we?
06:05All eyes over onto the right-hand side as we look down to the gate.
06:08There left.
06:10Barker up to 13.
06:11Top of 14.
06:12Franson losing time.
06:15Guillen tried to go a smidge early,
06:17but it was Lotta Vandrunen.
06:21who led the way from Valk, Fontenelle, Papamire.
06:27Here's Daniela Guillen.
06:29Right.
06:30She's found a way past Hughes.
06:32Hughes has fallen from that fifth place.
06:36Oh, and those bars pretty much bent as well.
06:44Not sure where that was on the track, but...
06:46Danielle Guillen now has a clear track
06:53to Papamire 3.2, which means for the next couple of laps at least,
06:58she's not going to be picking up roost off the rear wheel of anybody.
07:00Oh, stepping up in the turn 13.
07:08Completely wrong for Martine Hughes.
07:11Crashing out of that fifth place.
07:15Hughes now in 11th.
07:16The gap's still about a second
07:22between Vandrunen and Fontenelle.
07:25Came in three points there,
07:27three points clear
07:28of the Italian.
07:30Stays as she is.
07:31Goes back out to six.
07:35Fontenelle definitely gaining in confidence
07:37at the moment.
07:39She chases a race win number 49
07:41in her career.
07:42Through the left.
08:01The gap just starting to eke out.
08:03Vandrunen goes fastest
08:04into sector one.
08:06This is the part of the track
08:06where Martine Hughes crashed a moment ago.
08:0930.4 in sector one,
08:11the fastest of the race so far.
08:1230.8.
08:13Fontenelle, sector two,
08:15just dropping into that left-hander.
08:1629.7, 30.3.
08:18Gap going out to 2.1.
08:19Has she broken the Italian now
08:21with 12 minutes to go?
08:29One thing's for sure,
08:30when you realise you have
08:31started to open up a gap,
08:33Vici can ride a little bit more freely.
08:36That's maybe what Patrounen
08:37is hoping for now.
08:38And again,
08:38the pressure
08:39on Fontenelle
08:40to try and bridge that gap
08:42or hope
08:42there's a mistake
08:43from the race leader.
08:45Rider down.
08:58I'm not sure who that was there,
08:59receiving treatment,
09:00but
09:00down past fifth lane
09:03for the fourth time.
09:04Lotta van Drunen.
09:07Again,
09:07opening the gap,
09:081.8 at the last split.
09:09We hit the line
09:10at the end of four laps
09:11and it's a 2 minute
09:130.795 lap time
09:15for your race leader.
09:162.02.773.
09:18The gap all of a sudden
09:19exploding out
09:19at 3.1 seconds
09:21between first and second
09:22in the race.
09:24Lynn Volk
09:25still there in third,
09:26still eyeing up third overall
09:27in the Grand Prix.
09:29She's tied
09:29with Daniela Guillen
09:30which would have been the case
09:31if Guillen
09:32found her way past
09:34Martine Hughes.
09:35Hughes then fell.
09:36She still needs
09:37to find her way
09:38past Papermeyer.
09:39That gap though,
09:39almost three seconds,
09:412.7.
09:41In fact,
09:42here is Papermeyer.
09:43Guillen will be the next rider
09:44in view
09:45behind her
09:46in red and yellow.
09:48Franzoni is up to six.
09:49She's found her way
09:50past Amandine Verstappen.
09:52Verstappen now down in seven.
09:53Jakobsen
09:54has just been passed
09:55by Vandervillis
09:56as they hit the line.
09:57Gleeson up to nine.
09:58Jakobsen I think
09:59has maybe made a mistake
10:00because losing two positions,
10:02three positions
10:03as Hughes goes by as well.
10:05And Solebo.
10:06So Jakobsen there parked.
10:09The Kale Racing Team rider.
10:13KTM smoking like a chimney.
10:15G will rejoin the race
10:16but looks like curtains now
10:18for the Dane.
10:20That's a shame.
10:24in amongst traffic
10:28precarious times
10:29when it's a hard,
10:31packed, dry,
10:31fast racetrack.
10:32You don't know
10:33where the riders
10:34are going to go
10:35left or right.
10:37Even more tricky
10:38when you've got
10:39sticky conditions
10:40like this.
10:54more traffic
11:02to deal with.
11:04Vandruinen deals
11:05with it.
11:05Well, the gap again
11:06in amongst the back
11:07markers.
11:07It was more than
11:08three seconds
11:09a short while ago,
11:10wasn't it?
11:10Now at the start
11:11of this next lap
11:12it's down to 2.5
11:13but just as
11:16Vandruinen
11:16has experienced
11:17a little bit
11:18of traffic
11:18so too
11:19will Fontenese
11:20and that gap
11:21going back out
11:21to 3.3
11:22so a little bit
11:23of yin and yang
11:23at the moment.
11:24That concertina
11:25effect
11:26with 9 minutes
11:27plus 2 to go.
11:29Fontenese
11:29coming into land
11:30now.
11:33Fontenese
11:34ironed up
11:34the top step
11:35of the podium
11:35back to back
11:36it will be
11:38no she doesn't
11:49have to win
11:49the race
11:49but of course
11:50a race win
11:51gives another
11:52three points
11:53that goes
11:54without saying
11:55Fontenese
12:02looking up
12:02the track
12:03that gap
12:03getting bigger
12:04she's closing
12:16in
12:16on
12:19Papamire
12:19and this
12:22will get her
12:22this will get her
12:23on the podium
12:23and it will knock
12:27Lynn Volk
12:28off the podium
12:29Volk
12:31got on the podium
12:31third overall
12:32in the opening round
12:33she was
12:34unfortunate
12:34fourth in Spain
12:35it's going to be
12:35another fourth
12:36near this weekend
12:38nervous backmarkers
12:39looking behind
12:40and both
12:46Papamire
12:47and Guillen
12:48fighting their way
12:49through
12:50Fontenese
12:58well we'll just
13:01see how the GP
13:02turns out
13:07in the latter
13:08stages
13:08of the race
13:09but just
13:17in terms of
13:18back-to-back wins
13:19it's been
13:19a while
13:20going down
13:34past bit lane
13:35she can see
13:36the German
13:37trying to escape
13:38oh
13:46Daniela Guillen
13:48yeah she shakes
13:49her head
13:49watch this
13:55comes in to land
13:56short on the finish
13:57line jump
13:57that's the problem
13:58anyway
13:59even if it was dry
14:00you bounce
14:01and it forces a reaction
14:02but then you've got
14:03the wet mud
14:04underneath
14:05Daniela Guillen
14:06lugging the hole
14:07onto that fifth place
14:08it's cost her a little bit
14:08of time
14:09she's now chasing again
14:102.4 seconds
14:11papamire
14:26off the hook
14:27for now
14:27of course
14:28she's just looking
14:28for her best result
14:29possible
14:30it's going to be
14:31fifth overall
14:31at her home
14:32grand prix
14:32going to be
14:34a fourth
14:35in the race
14:36she had a best
14:37finish of the season
14:37in race one
14:38this will
14:39eclipse that
14:41by a position
14:41but Daniela Guillen
14:43you see she's
14:43charging hard
14:44at the moment
14:45desperate to find
14:47a way
14:47onto the podium
14:48for the second
14:51time this year
14:51only
14:52Lotta Van Drunen
14:53has a 100%
14:54podium record
14:55in 2025
14:56with a win
14:57and a third
14:58at the opening
14:58two rounds
14:59Vogue third
15:01well
15:03Van Der Blist
15:04in second
15:04in round one
15:05Vogue third
15:06and then
15:07last time out
15:07Guillen
15:08and Van Drunen
15:09was second
15:10and third
15:11as Fontanese
15:12took her first
15:13victory of the season
15:14the first time
15:17since 2021
15:18five minutes
15:28to go
15:28the gap between
15:30Van Drunen
15:30and Fontanese
15:31four seconds
15:32now
15:32I don't know
15:34if the team
15:34have said
15:34second is enough
15:36to win the overall
15:37disappear for three months
15:40come back swinging
15:40in the Netherlands
15:41with a little bit
15:42of sand riding
15:43under your belt
15:43try and
15:47establish yourself
15:49at the top
15:49of the championship
15:50in Holland
15:52which is the
15:53home grand prix
15:54for Lotta Van Drunen
15:55our race leader
15:56here
15:56just going up
15:57through those waves
15:58just out of shot
15:59now
15:59that's what
16:015.2 seconds
16:02looks like
16:02and I wonder if
16:06if Fontanese
16:09had pulled the whole shot
16:10would she have
16:11disappeared
16:11like she did
16:11in race one
16:12with that kind
16:13of confidence
16:14that opening lap
16:16sprint speed
16:16that she had
16:17in that first race
16:18and would Van Drunen
16:20would she have been
16:20able to stay with her
16:21well the roles
16:24were reversed
16:24it was Van Drunen
16:25who pulled the whole shot
16:26Fontanese
16:26quickly got herself
16:27in a second
16:27Fontanese
16:30wasn't able
16:30to execute
16:31the move
16:31stayed there
16:32within a second
16:33or so
16:33then all of a sudden
16:35the gap
16:35just started
16:37to creep out
16:38a tenth here
16:39two or three tenths
16:39there
16:40got out to 1.7
16:41then two
16:422.2
16:43then all of a sudden
16:43we're out to
16:44four and a half seconds
16:45it ain't over
16:46until it's over
16:47they say
16:47three and a half minutes
16:50plus two laps
16:51there's still plenty
16:51of time
16:52for the result
16:53to swing one way
16:55or the other
16:55or stay as it is
16:56Papamaya
16:58methodical at the moment
16:59in that fourth position
17:00making Daniela Guillen
17:01do all of the work
17:02gap between
17:19fourth and fifth
17:202.6 seconds
17:21we'll get another
17:22check on that
17:23any moment now
17:242.1
17:24so again
17:25Guillen
17:26looking for momentum
17:27looking to
17:28do all she can
17:30to bridge that gap
17:31once more
17:31looks like the raid
17:39has eased
17:40for now anyway
17:41at least the organisers
17:45didn't need to put too
17:46much water down
17:47expecting a little bit
17:49of rain
17:49I'm sure they did
17:50add a little bit
17:52of water yesterday
17:54after they prepped the
17:56track just in case
17:57there you see the difference
17:58there you see the difference
17:59there you see the difference
17:59not jumping the finish line
18:00jump
18:00and making it
18:01Papamaya and Guillen
18:04fourth and fifth
18:07now separated
18:07by nothing
18:08once more
18:09eight laps complete
18:11we're now
18:11on to our ninth lap
18:13and Papamaya
18:14once again
18:17with a little bit
18:18of pressure
18:18from behind
18:19in the form
18:19of Daniela Guillen
18:20who switches
18:21to the outside
18:22this time around
18:23again that momentum
18:24how hard and slick
18:30it is
18:30at the bottom
18:31of those hills
18:31Papamaya
18:35a little bit
18:35off balance
18:36and Guillen
18:37muscles her way
18:38around the outside
18:39and that just came
18:40from that poor drive
18:41coming out of the turn
18:42not getting good drive
18:43through those waves
18:44a little bit crooked
18:45and in the end
18:46Guillen
18:47with better drive
18:48just found her way
18:49into four
18:50with a pass
18:52on Papamaya
18:53now she can cope
19:06Guillen can now
19:08focus on
19:09Linvog
19:10but that gap
19:10almost 11 seconds
19:12the podium will be
19:15Daniela Guillen
19:16third overall
19:17look
19:17she needed to make
19:19that pass
19:20would have been
19:23interesting to see
19:23as well
19:24had
19:24Martine Hughes
19:25not fallen
19:26how long
19:27would it have taken
19:28for Guillen
19:29to find her way
19:30past
19:31would it have been
19:31a sweet
19:33move
19:34very very quick
19:35in which case
19:36made no difference
19:37that Hughes felt
19:38or would she
19:39have had to
19:40battle
19:40for another lap
19:42or two
19:42and then
19:43this pass
19:44maybe not coming
19:44until right at the
19:45end of the race
19:46but there you see
19:47just getting squirrely

25:31gap now to more than 11 seconds
25:34but Lotta Van Drunen
25:36she will win race two
25:39it won't be enough for the overall victory
25:41but Van Drunen crosses the line
25:43to take her 10th career race win
25:47her third win of the season
25:49but Kiara Fontanese
25:56picking up her 23rd Grand Prix victory
26:03this weekend
26:05tying the all-time list
26:09with the absent
26:10Courtney Duncan
26:12I'd love to give you some results
26:17but the last two laps have no timing
26:19so
26:20Valk
26:24crosses the line
